I really liked National car rental's excellent customer service at the El Paso Airport location :) Everyone from the front counter (where I checked in with Jennifer for my online car rental reservation) to Marisol and also 2 male employees upon choosing a rental car in the parking structure, to the male employee at the exit gate were awesome :D ! They all really made sure that I was well taken care of :) ! At first, I actually wanted to rent a brand new white 2023 Toyota Corolla hybrid :) ! I got all of my bags and items into the car and I was ready to check out when I noticed that it didn't seem to take my USB charging cord. I read the manual to make sure I didn't miss anything. Finally, I asked one of the male employees, who pointed out to me that the newer rental cars now only have the USB-C ports (and not the regular USB ports anymore). He said I would need an adapter to be able to charge my device on this new car. I was dismayed because I actually really wanted to try out the new 2023 Toyota Corolla hybrid. But I only had the regular USB charging cord :( . The National male employee was really nice and pointed out some other rental cars, such as a burgundy Nissan Altima, that would allow me to charge since they still had the regular USB port. So I rented the Nissan Altima instead :) ! It still served me really well and I was still really happy that the Altima got me around town :D ! Upon returning the Altima yesterday at the conclusion of my trip, the employee who checked my return was really efficient, and also really friendly and courteous :) ! I will definitely rent National again in the future for future trips :) ! Their cars are very polished and so clean :D ! I was pretty happy overall with both the exceptional customer service and the awesome quality of the available car rentals :) ! read more

This updated review was for a trip in April 2022. Back in good ol El Paso. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and for us in National Elite, there was a bunch of really nice cars. My now fiance chose the jeep for us and our friends to ride in. Quick check in and quick return this time around. This location has Emrald Aisle. No waiting in line. No getting stuck with a car you don't like! I love their Emerald Club! I'm a regular due to my job and I have reached Executive level. When you 1st start in the Emerald Club you can go to the Emerald Aisle and pick out the car you want. You jump in and just give the person at the booth your ID. No need to go to the counter. When you reach Executive you get a better choice of cars. I love it because I get to drive cars I would probably never buy because they are not practical, but they are fun! read more

I had a very smooth experience here. I belong to the Emerald Club, and had reserved an Intermediate car, which means you get to choose anything in the Emerald Aisle. Unfortunately they were sold out of Intermediate cars when I got there, but they gave me a full-sized car at the Intermediate rate, which was OK with me. Checkout was very speedy. My flight back was cancelled, but I was able to use the National ioS app to change my return time with no trouble. Car return was also very speedy. Note that the airport has rebuilt the rental-car area and it's all inside a covered two-story structure now instead of out in the open parking lot. It's still conveniently located across the street from the terminal, so you still walk across instead of taking a train or shuttle like in big airports. read more

Thanks to American Airlines I'm 2.5 hours late to El Paso airport. And thanks to National for stranding another customer. How in the hell can you not have just one person hang around or be on call for when a plane arrives late. The very worst in customer service. Surely the technology exists for you to read my credit card, scan my license, and even remotely checkout a customer. You don't even have to have someone on site. Really get with the times this is seriously lame customer NO SERVICE. And I love how they post send your info and they will look into it. What's to look in to. You have NO SERVICE from 12:00 midnight to 6 AM. Fix the problem that is obviously impacting multiple customers at this location on a reoccurring basis. read more

You cannot just choose any car on the lot - but ask at the desk when you get your keys. They often have multiple options and are happy to work with you to give you the car you desire. At least, that has been my experience the few times I have rented at this location. Also, the attendant on the lot was extremely friendly and very helpful. Helped me put my bags in the car and made sure I had exact directions to my hotel from the parking lot. Asked me how I was doing and chit-chatted to make me feel welcome to El Paso. I will definitely rent from them each time I visit El Paso. read more

Horrible. I'm an executive member and have never had am issue with national except here. I have 2-3more weeks to be in El Paso, and may choose somewhere else. I can typically chose any car on the lot. ... Here they will only bump two levels. No big deal. .. except they were or of one,maybe two classes. Instead of bumping my up, they dropped me down the levels. Also the cast was makes up and the A/C doesn't work half the time. I've called the location and the manager. No response. It was my first visit to the El Paso airport. One of the big things that stuck out immediately is the rental car area is attached to the airport which I always feel is super convenient and preferred. When I arrived at the National area I was greeted and confirmed where the executive row lies. There were plenty of cars to choose from which is also a great thing. When I returned the car the person that checked me out was quick and it went fast. The car was clean and newer. It did have a real powerful scent which makes me wonder if there had been a smoker in car before me. In the end the main point was this entire process was easy which is what matters on these type of services. read more

I would have given this place a better rating, but they totally screwed me over. My flight ended up being horribly delayed. I called this location and specifically asked them if I had options, as I knew my flight would arrive well after their posted closing time. The guy on the phone took my name to confirm my reservation, flight info, and assured me that they would remain at the counter to greet me when my flight arrived. What a relief right? Yeah, not so much. So when my flight landed, I hurried to the rental counter, and what do I find? A very vacant counter. At this point I tried going to the only open car counter in the airport, and of course they had no rentals available. The girl explained that they were only open to assist customers arriving on my flight. I figure I'll just get a hotel nearby. Well turns out, I would not. There were no hotel rooms available at any El Paso airport hotel. I ended up having to get a room on the far west side of town, and spending over $50 on taxi services. I also lost the hotel reservation at my final destination because I never showed up and apparently they sell out nightly due to their remote location along I-10. Had the guy told me from the start that they wouldn't remain open, maybe, just maybe I could have gotten a hotel room before they all sold out in El Paso and rebooked my original hotel reservation in my final destination. While I've always had a very positive experience with National at other locations, I'll be sure to explore other options when my travels bring me to El Paso. Tell the truth to your customers, as lying gives them a false sense of hope and can cause a huge headache of problems for them in the end. read more

I'm a fan of National Car Rental. I'm a fan of the car lot courtesy of the attendants - someone always meets me to take my luggage and twice when raining, met me with an umbrella. I am not a fan of not having Executive choice of cars and having to pay for upgrades that I get free at other locations. I am also not a fan of lugging my baggage all the way out to the lot - which is a long walk! There is a courtesy cart, but it is infrequent. read more

I've rented cars from other car rental places and have been disappointed by the lack of good customer service and quality of vehicles. I was pleasantly surprised when booking a car with National Car Rental this past weekend. I was greeted, called by my first name, and my hand was even shaken. When looking over my car before leaving the parking lot, the attendant was very nice and helped me look for the smallest damages to the car so I wouldn't be responsible. The car I ended up with was also fairly new (not even a 1,000 miles). read more

I have been using national for the last eight years and I travel to El Paso once every couple of months for business as well as many other cities and states for work. As past travelers have noted most national locations in larger airports have an aisle for executive members and executive elite. Smaller location such as El Paso does not have this feature. I don't think it is fair to judge the operation of a rental car company based on this. Every time I come here I am always greeted with very courteous people. I have not once had an employee of national car rental at this location provide me with poor customer service. This last experience is what finally prompted me to take the time to write this review. I rented a car that was available at the time. However because I was going to be driving a longer distance than usual I wanted to trade in for something more comfortable like a mid size suv like I had rented in the past. I had gone back a few times during the week to see what they had and nothing really stood out for me and inventory low this week. Selena at the front counter did everything she could to try and get me and something that I would like. If I were her I would have been sick of me. Instead of getting frustrated with me she just kept trying and when we couldn't find anything I just told her I would come back. She exhibited great professionalism and customer service which I very much appreciated since I was being a little bit difficult. When I went back to my original a Rent-A-Car I was approached by Andrew, Tatyana, and efrain Who all politely asked me if I had found something that I was happy with. I saw a Buick that looks nice and I made a comment. They immediately asked me if I wanted to take that car and that it had just come off the truck with 5 miles on the odometer! They even helped me moved all my stuff from one car to the other.. I can't say enough great things about this team in El Paso. They really work together as a team and you can tell that everybody gets along very well. All of the people mentioned tried to help me out. Once I took the Buick out of the lot, I received a call from Jennifer to see if everything was to my satisfaction. this may be a smaller national Location, but the customer service is the largest of any other location! As an Executive member I miss being able to pick any car in the lot, though I did hear that this will be coming soon at this small El Paso location. While the employees were all very firendly, I did not appreciateall the upsale attempts. Three different upgrade opportunities were given to me. Normally I get free upgrades, but this location wanted to charge me for them. Even offering me a luxery SU, that I had recieved for free in LAX, for a $50/day fee. read more

This National Car Rental has good customer services. There is no Executive lane for automatic pickup.

Usually 5 stars. They go out of their way to accommodate you. Recently though I attempted to use my free days but had errors using online booking. Went to National, told the counter help that I had errors while booking and he said they had no cars available. The person didn't even check to see if I had a valid reservation. National debited my account and took the free days. I called National and they promptly put my days back and said I did have a current reservation. More recently I picked up a vehicle that was filthy inside. The lot attendant said that they had no cars to trade out with and that he would talk to the cleaning crews. No offer of remediation. I cleaned the vehicle myself as I hate a dirty vehicle. customer service needs to pick up. read more

Great service and the rental cars are right across from baggage area. The people at the lot offered to help put luggage in the car. Went out of their way to make sure I knew how to get to my destination and at all times asked that I was happy with the car I was renting. This is as good as it gets!! read more

I'm an executive member and have been since 2010. I rented a car for the long holiday, my family lives in las cruces. I had a reservation for 11:30 pm, due to the weather the flight was delayed and landed at 12:30. I headed to the garage like I always do, assuming that someone would be there, as most National car rentals stay open up to two hours after to close for customers on delayed flights. To my surprise everyone was gone and it's the holidays! You'd think they'd be courteous enough to wait late customers!!! This is the worst experience I have ever had with National! I would understand if you guys had the small dirt parking lot you had a couple of years ago where keys had to be handed off, but now you have a gorgeous garage that houses up to a hundred vehicles and you can't have ONE attendant checking cars out after midnight? That's extremely unfortunate. read more

I don't even know where to start. My husband is an executive member who made the mistake of accidentally leaving his prescription glasses in an Oakley case in his returned rental. While I understand that this was his mistake, I am quite sure he isn't the first to leave something behind. Having realized right away that he had done so, he contacted the airport location and they had indeed found the case in the vehicle. They were in the lost and found. He was told that they would be returned to him at his expense. Upon receiving the FedEx parcel, much to his dismay, while the packaging was perfectly intact as was the rigid case, his prescription eyeglasses were twisted in half to the point of being completely broken. Naturally he was upset, as we can assume what happened. Most people would come to a similar conclusion. My husband called the main number to be told that he would need to contact the specific location. After several attempts with no success, he left a voicemail to be called back right away. He finally got a call back 5 days later to be told that they are not responsible for personal belongings and to esentially be called a liar. He was informed that the employs at that location would never damage anyone's belongings. Just not how customer service should be done. This will be escalated. read more

I am a huge fan of National Car Rental across the country. Their programs are great. At the El Paso location I had the least enjoyable experience I have ever had with National. I believe it will get better in the near future, apparently they will have a garage set up where you can pick up your car like any other National location. But when I went I wasted my time walking out to the lot to be sent back to the terminal to have to get in a line to get a car. Then I did that. There was at least 4 or 5 guys working the counter. Definitely polite young men, but informed me they did not have any keys, they could not guarantee what sort of car I would get and even though I had booked a nav system they had none left. Then I along with many other customers had to wait for a runner to get some keys. With 5 guys at the counter one of them should have gone to get keys. So it ended up being a 45 minute experience which was horrible. I reiterate they were polite but just simply ineffective. Other National locations are a much better exprience than El Paso. read more

I rent a car every week, and the staff at this location is fantastic. The desk people are friendly, offer whatever car is available, and process the minimal paperwork quickly. The lot people take you to the car and help with the baggage if necessary, and are also friendly and helpful. I enjoy this location. read more

The manager Erica said she would hold me a nice car because when flying in at midnight there are only trucks and soccer vans left in the lot. When I arrived at midnight, the counter agent said Erica never informed him and I could choose between a truck or a soccer van. The same thing happened the previous week with Felipe. Driving a truck isn't as bad as being lied to by the manager in charge. read more
