While waiting inside some of the scare actors will be going around trying to scare you, it is very entertaining to hear them scare someone haha. This is probably thee best haunted house attraction we have been too, definitely worth going here if you love haunted houses as much as we do. You do take a photo before you go in, as a photographer myself, I will say they need to turn down their brightness as it does over light the photo that was taken, but I do love that it was included in the price. *If you do go, please don't be a sourpuss, the guy behind us w what we assume was his wife was a buzzkill the whole time. The show restarted a few years ago; decades…read moreago there had been shows out here every year or two, and a big one in 2007 for the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends. I'm glad they got it going again. It's not huge, which has its pros and cons. Smaller than Dayton or Cleveland's shows. Much easier to get around, especially for older folks or families with young kids. Parking isn't horrible, though you will walk a fair distance to the gates (sometimes the golf cart folks will give a few people a lift.) Prices are fair if you buy in advance, and pretty ridiculous closer to the show. Buy parking- you have to get it in advance I think, and it too is cheaper the earlier you get it. Bring the usual airshow stuff: sunscreen, a water bottle, hat, a folding chair maybe. You're not allowed to bring in full water bottles (though they weren't picky about it today.) Water stations are just inside the gate, and at the far end of the show near a hangar. Plenty of vendors and display aircraft to wander and see, plenty of overpriced food and drinks. And booths from the military, local museums, and more. A STEM tent for kids. Helicopter rides for sale. Some shade by the entrance and under wings (maybe bring a sun umbrella too.) The show is solid: Blue Angels or Thunderbirds, other well-known national performers. Always dependent on the weather, of course, but they can do a "low show" if there is a moderate cloud later. Oh, maybe bring earplugs for little kids (there is at least one booth selling them.) All in all a fun event, loud fast stuff, friendly people, and neat things to look at. If you love aviation, or history, or festivals, check it out.

I love that the water table was her height level too, at cosi the kids her age have to stand on stools which isn't very safe for the kids or relaxing for mom.

This place is essentially like the kids space at COSI. Different areas for them to play and get creative. Dress up, read, sing on the little stage, climb on the construction equipment, pretend to grocery shop, play on the splash table and build a pipe line for the water to travel through, and much more. My sister and I took our little ones here on a rainy day, and they definitely enjoyed themselves. We (unfortunately) went on a day when a HUGE daycare or playgroup was also visiting, so about 15 mins after arriving, this swarm of over 50 adults and kids came in and it just got insane. I overheard another mom say that she's never seen so many people in there, so it reassured me that it's not always like this. This place isn't super fancy, and I did wonder about their sanitation procedures because I didn't see any buckets or bins for toys to go in if a kid had put it in their mouth. My LO being under a year, and my nephew being 18 months, you know everything goes in the mouth. They had a little "plop zone" which is the sacred safe space for babies under 2 to not get trampled. My daughter liked it, and liked chewing every toy, which takes me back to the germs... Butbi tried to let it go. The one thing I truly disliked about this place is that you have to pay to get in, even as an adult. $8 for me to supervise my own kid? Okay... Luckily my daughter was free because she was under 1, but I thought it was kind of ridiculous that adults have to pay for their child and themselves. It would make me think twice about coming here regularly once she's over 12 months because I don't think $16 is worth it. As of right now, all she can do is sit in the little baby plop zone. So if you really need something to do on a rainy day, definitely come here. It's safe and the kids for sure have fun. But if it's not a rainy day or you have a lot of kiddos, weigh out all your options, lol.

But over the past few years, and the downtown in the economy, its gotten a little weaker. In fact, it used to be a 3-day festival with live bands, food, and entertainment, but now its only one day with no live bands, only a few bouncy castles for the kids and a parade that I think is getting more and more peaked by the year. What redeems this event is that it really is a family event and you can spend all day here and have a good time. The children's parade starts at 10am and ends at a carnival. The main parade was at 1.30 and featured Eric Smith of the New York Jets as the grand marshall. The fireworks are surprisingly good and lasted around 30 minutes. Quite a few people come to watch the fireworks so parking can get a bit tight. The school lot was completely filled up but the cops aren't too diligent about ticketing for parking illegally during the fireworks (but you'd better move your car right afterwards) or you can also park for free at the rec center down the road. Or if you don't want to walk or risk a ticket, several of the houses along Main offer parking for $5 a car in their yards.

This is a cute little museum featuring exhibits, shows, and interactive stations related to…read morescience, history, technology, and more. There is a very nice little planetarium (the Scidome), and viewing a show is included in the price of admission. We saw "From Earth to the Universe," which provided a crash course on astronomy throughout history and a look at our galaxy and the universe. The first floor of the space features a lot of interactive and hands-on activities, such as building a circuit, learning about your body, building and racing cars from objects like Legos, plus a 6-and-under play area. The hot shop is also located in this area, and it was very interesting to watch them work with the hot glass (and a very pleasant space to be in on such a cold day!) Upstairs is a wealth of local and regional historical information for Newark and Licking County and its citizens and discoveries. A giant mastadon skull greets you as you come up the stairs, as the Burning Tree Mastadon was found in the county. The Jerrie Mock exhibit, complete with a flight simulator and a replica of her airplane, the Spirit of Columbus, was extremely popular with the kids. (Jerrie Mock, a Newark native, was the first woman to fly solo around the world). A little historic village, complete with cash registers, scales, and games is also available to walk through on this level. Given the weather, we didn't spend as much time out in the courtyard as we probably would have otherwise, but we definitely made it over to the building housing the interurban railway car, the back end of which you can walk in and look around the interior of. There's also a really well done mural on the topic out by the parking lot. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and the museum was clean and comfortable. There is plentiful parking outside. A small gift shop, including items made in the hot shop, is available near the entrance.

The Works is hands down a better experience than the other children's museum. This is now her favorite of the 3 places we've been. Unfortunately, the glass blowing was closed for routine maintenance & we have plans to return when open again. The bottom floor houses the small planetarium & hands on exhibits & play areas for kids & upstairs is more informative displays of the local area, the Works history & a brief technology over view. I've heard there's a café associated with the museum across the outdoor area but we didn't look into that the day we were there. 10/10 recommend a visit if you're in the area & looking for something new, fun & educational for kids to do.

I recently attended a music festival at Legend Valley (Lost Lands) and with it being my first time…read morethere, I was really impressed with the venue and how everything was run. It's located right off interstate 70 in Thornville. Being that it's in a smaller town, traffic got a little backed up arriving but it moved fairly fast and leaving wasn't an issue at all. Getting into the venue was also pretty easy. There was only one day (out of four) where the entrance line was a little backed up and by little I mean maybe five minutes. The space is huge, with a ton of space to walk around and room for all sorts of vendors. From food and facilities to merch and medical, everything flowed pretty well. I know a lot of this depends on the fest and who runs it but I know the venue has a lot to do with that. I didn't camp, but I did catch word that there's a new tunnel that connects campers to the entrance, which I can only imagine makes the experience much easier. I have no doubt that I'll be back!

@( * O * )@*500TH REVIEW*@( * O * )@…read more Wow, on a three WEEK roadtrip that I did from California to New York, Lost Lands was my Grand Prix, the triple crown, or whatever parallel you'd use for the biggest of music festivals. Really fun 4 day camping with 130k other people so enjoy the full festival while you're at it. Legend Valley is a venue about 30 minutes from downtown Columbus, and Lost Lands is just one of many events here. The venue itself is pretty far out there and has some intense traffic to get in, but they do have a general parking area if you are coming from a hotel in Columbus. One big negative that I do have to mention was the camping entry times which was HORRENDOUS. This particular year (2021) was brutal af because of the 13 hour wait time from 6pm to 7am just to enter the venue and setup camp because the organization was rusty and police were just taking people in circles. That was the only bad part of the event and hopefully you don't have to wait that long just to setup your tent because that's the longest I've ever waited for a camping festival. However, that negativity pretty much ended with how everything else went SMOOTHLY. The venue seemed bigger than ever, the event ran without much issues, and the music was good. YES, showers are $10. Bring your own. Yes, the food options are typical overpriced crumbs you call food. Bring your own. need good vibes? BRING YOUR OWN. Now in comparison of the other big festivals like EDC, Bass Canyon, Forbidden Kingdom, I do want to point out that the vibes imo are pretty good, though I think Bass Canyon tops Lost Lands unsurprisingly. Still, tons of space and you never feel overwhelmed like you do at EDC due to Columbus being a much smaller town to host than Las Vegas. There's no shortage of grass to sit and it's nice overall. The dinosaurs add a nice touch to the venue, so enjoy the 60 ft brachiosaurus in the middle of the crowd while walking towards mainstage. It's hard to describe without being there yourself. Overall, great time with friends , dubstep fans, and camping trips if you're in Ohio in September.
