However, there are usually staff on hand to direct you to the right place if you look a bit lost. The indoor cash machine is handy when it's (or when there's a long queue of people outside). For other things I've always been served fairly quickly and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I suspect that there can be a bit of a wait at peak times but so far I've found it better than branches of other banks I've used on Byres Road.

Things have gotten busier now, and there's often a longer queue for the post office than there used to be. They do have a self-service machine, but I've always found it unreliable and seldom trust it to complete a transaction without something going wrong. It's worth keeping an eye on the shop counter while you're queuing for the post office, as they will often call you over if they're not too busy.

The shop/post office/cafe was quite busy which is great a new business. The gift shop section is packed full of gems like Nikki McWilliams cushions (you know the ones, they're shaped like biscuits), posh salted caramel marshmallows, sewing kits, notepads - so many beautiful Glasgow gifts. The shop is also full of interesting non-generic greetings cards. I spotted about 5 which I am planning to buy for people's birthdays. The gift shop adds an extra place in the West end to shop local. The cafe section is small but an welcome addition. We opted for a chemex for 2 as well as a slice of jaffa cake cheesecake to share. They get their cheesecake from The Artisan Cheesecake company based in Bathgate, which a firm favourite with a work colleague. The cheesecake was well worth it and was beautiful. However I would recommend sharing as it is really sweet. The coffee was delicious and I was so happy with our chemex as it meant I had more coffee to look forward to. I think I will definitely be heading here again for their coffee/cheesecake/shop/post office.

Don't be fooled, this does not mean that I've only encountered the business section of this branch. In fact, more often that not I was sent down here on a mission by my manager at the time to pay money into her account to cover bills. It's due to these occasions in particular, that I have found this bank to be preferable to my own. The staff have been friendly, helpful and did not seemed to bothered by the fact that I was playing about with an account that wasn't mine. Meanwhile, the service was unbelievably fast, even during the busier times such as lunchtime and/or Saturdays. This brings us onto the opening hours. This was one of the first venues where late night and weekend opening was piloted. It must have proved popular as this now seemed to have been adopted by other branches and indeed banks. In addition to all this, the branch was always clean, airy and clutter free. All you want from a bank - apart from more money.

It's located right by Central Station, which makes it a lot easier to find if you're unsure of the location. (I must admit it took me a while the first time I needed to make a visit). This place is very reasonably sized, but not generally very busy. This is great as you won't have to queue for hours before you get to talk to the bank tellers. Plus, if you do have to wait for a couple of minutes, there are plenty of seats available for you to make yourself comfortable in. The staff are friendly and helpful and will get you sorted easily. I once witnessed them explaining very patiently to a Spanish man that they couldn't help him with his account because they were not the Yorkshire Bank but the Yorkshire Building society and totally separate companies. This branch seems to be less busy when I go in, compared to the Partick branch which always has a line out the door. Since changing over to TSB a while back, the whole inside of this place has had an overhaul and is bright and airy with loads of blue and white in the ads. I've never had a problem at any of the branches, TSB really has been the best bank I've ever banked with (American banks included) and I would recommend them to anyone! The staff have always been helpful and if you need to call in to their help line, again, the phone staff is always helpful and get you off and running. Bravo TSB for being the bank I count on!

It's often particularly busy (always good) but seems to have the slowest customers in the world; pensioners, yummy mummy's with their screeching kids and people incapable of understanding the dynamics of queueing or able to complete their request slip BEFORE reaching the service counter. Perhaps, as a consequence of the catering to the slowest customers in the banking world, the staff have followed suit. As the staff are also unbelievably slow and lacking friendliness. However, if you are a Lloyds customer - like me - and in fairly urgent need of banking services then it's worth while utilising the most convenient branch.
