I thought that now I have the leisure to do so I will find a great stylist at a foreign place. Thank goodness my hotel recommended this place. Just as stated by the previous reviewer they do not speak English but what they do well is style hair. You only have to show using magazines or hand gestures and they know what you mean!!! It is unreal. I have long, fine and wavy hair. To be honest I have had the same hairstylist for a decade but she has been gone for mat leave so my hair has been a hot long mess. So I almost walked past this place because the sign still says "Paco Caballo" but it should be "Audrey's Studio". Oh well, details:) I sat in the chair and had my hand gestured consultation. I must say every woman who came out of the salon looked great so I was very encouraged. The hair washing was good with a massage and the hair cut and blow-dry was phenomenal! The lady who cut my hair really knew what she was doing and instinctively knew where to cut and how. I was so relieved when I loved the end result and I was so proud of it that I got dressed up and showed off my new do. My total with tip was 55 euros, which is less than what I pay for similar experience with my stylist. If you need a haircut, trust me this is the place to go! I will go back tomorrow and get a blow-out. Why not? I am on vacation!!!

However, living in Madrid, my hair was getting pretty long and the situation began to get pretty dire. That left me to ponder: Should I continue walking around town with split ends and scraggly hair? Or take the risk and give a Spanish haircut a try? Girls in Madrid have very pretty hair and I couldn't help but feel envy (and maybe some judgment) being out and about with mine looks as it did, so decided to take a deep breath and try my luck. I centered my salon search in Malasana figuring there are enough bars nearby that I could quickly grab a drink to calm myself after things went wrong. Thankfully, Tamara at LaPeluQueQueria took care of me a-ok and no drink was needed after to wash away my sorrows. She listened to exactly what I wanted, did not try to pull out any curve balls, and was extremely nice all the while. The price was fair and I left more than pleased. I'm happy she was able to restore my faith in unfamiliar hairstylists.

He's a very confident, no-crap kind of stylist who intimidated me at first; consequently, I didn't quite get the cut I wanted the first time (he's the type who will tell you if he doesn't think your idea will work out and has no problem not giving you exactly what you ask for). Despite not getting what I was looking for, I got an immense amount of compliments, so I kept going back. As we got more familiar, each cut was more and more exactly what I'd asked. And the price has always been a predictable 25euro. (I don't know if the price is higher for long hair) Also, I never asked for a style but he always dried and did something nice to my hair after each cut, never charging! He's a little rough with his handling, I remember the first time he washed my hair he ended up washing half the makeup off my face, but in the future I asked him or his colleagues to be careful and it was fine. They're very relaxed and nice there. I will say that two friends asked for his info because they liked my hair so much, but both left a bit unsatisfied. For some reason he was more conservative with their hair and they didn't feel they got a big enough change. One requested he fix it and he very pleasantly saw her again and gave her a better cut. I will admit though, the highlights didn't look like much!
