When I got pregnant with our second I knew I wanted to have a natural birth with a midwife and was lucky enough to come across FBC. They do fill up quickly because they can only take so many patients at one time. They have two birth suites that are very calming with a giant tub, bed, and any labor tool you would need to get through a natural birth. They even offer Nitrous Oxide as a coping mechanism if desired. There is so much autonomy to going through FBC for your birth and you will never feel forced into anything. You dictate how you want your birth experience to go and that was exactly the case for me. I made it to 41 weeks and 1 day and was losing my mind, Dawn was there for me every step of the way. She was so great at calming me down, making great recommendations and truly cared deeply about the prep work I put in for labor beforehand and my prenatal care. They care so much about your diet, prenatal supplements, health, exercise, things you can do to prepare your body for a natural labor both mentally and physically, as well as your immediate care after birth. I felt like my birth team had my back and was there for me every step of the way. I ended up having Dawn break my water at 41 weeks + 1 day and my labor lasted for 5 hours. I pushed for 2 minutes and our little man was here. I truly think a lot of this had to do with Dawn + her team's recommendations and the prep work I did beforehand. I would highly recommend going to FBC! They will empower you to have the birth of your dreams and give you all of the tools you need to do so! They do work with insurance carriers which made this even more affordable for us but they do payment plans so you are paid in full by the time you give birth and don't have to worry about that right after. My labor was long and difficult due to baby being in a less than optimal position, but Nicole worked with us through the entire process and the birth center's doula (Kennedy) was there for us the moment we arrived at the birth center to coach us through the hours of active labor. Through every visit, every emotion, every question, and every prenatal challenge, she was endlessly kind, compassionate, and encouraging. She never once made me feel rushed or unheard. Angelina is an incredible wealth of knowledge--not only about pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and babies, but also homeopathy, non-toxic living, and natural wellness. No matter what came up, she always had thoughtful guidance and practical solutions. Christine is very hands-off which may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for us it was exactly what we were looking for. I saw Christine for all of my prenatal care, we had the usual visit every four weeks and then as we got closer to the due date every two weeks and then every week. Visits were usually at her home office, certain visits were at my home (1st visit, 36week visit...) and if we had a scheduling issue it usually ended up with her coming to my home. The visits were short, which was fine for us. Christine always included our toddler in the visits for as much as she wanted to be included (letting her listen to baby's heartbeat or take mamas blood pressure). Christine did often run late, which was okay for us but I know that could be an issue for some.

I guess telling them your on the way to go birth your baby doesn't count. It really felt as if we were taken advantage of as first time parents. Nicki promised a refund for the services they didn't fulfill, however they no longer return my phone calls or messages. Small claims court it is I guess.

She meets with couples, pretends to care about their desires, gets $100 retainer (and any amount you choose to out toward her $900 fee) and proceeds to push her own agenda until things are so awkward you have to fire her. She will then refuse to refund any money you've given her. She uses the guise of providing "researched suggestions" that sound alarmingly like a high school student using made up statistics to win an internet battle. She told us she would support any of our personal decisions and was there only to make the process more comfortable. Based on that, we hired her. When she met with us, she spent two minutes talking about comfort techniques and 30 minutes equating circumcision to a murderous practice of male-dominated society. We were shocked but told her we would make the decision by ourselves and to move on. She continued talking about it to the point where it was uncomfortable. If you are unfamiliar, a good doula will not ever make you feel uncomfortable (our replacement was perfect). Weeks later, we contacted her to make sure she could maintain professionalism in the delivery room despite us not holding her views. She responded with a new attack on anyone that chooses circumcision and more "statistics" about circumcision causing many infant deaths - something the hospital even refuted. That was the end. She is wolf in sheeps clothing that will promise everything at the initial meeting and proceed on a scare-tactic crusade for her own extreme worldview. Before she showed her true colors, we recommended her to some friends. They were also scammed. She promised them everything, got their money, and shifted gears to her own ends until they fired her for changing her tune about epidurals - no refund. She argued with them about circumcision despite them having a girl. She is bizarrely opinionated about anything but providing a quality service. We did not receive a single helpful moment but lost hundreds of dollars. Zero stars - do yourself a favor and get anyone else. A bum on the street would be a better value.

She has an uplifting spirit that I enjoyed, which made my experience so much worth having her as my doula. She was so so so supportive of my choices on having a natural birth for my first pregnancy. During labor I almost gave up and was about to request that epidural when I reached about 8 centimeters (that pain is no joke) but she was not letting me give up AT ALL. I love the way deedee consoled in me, make helping me feel like a warrior. I definitely need to recommend her to the "moms-to-be" squad so you guys can see for yourselves. She's the best.
