Natural Bridge Canyon is a one of the easier hikes with a quick reward, LOVE these! From the parking lot that has bathrooms it will take about 15 minutes walking up a gentle but constant grade, along pebble floor to the Natural Bridge, which extends across the whole canyon and is quite impressive. Along the way you will see various chutes carved out from flood waters from manyy years ago, you can stand inside of these starring up into the deep blue skies peering out into the beauty of Death Valley to capture GREAT photops. Natural Bridge Canyon offers a short hike 2 miles round-trip with a expansive reward added bonus if you are adventerous continue up past the bridge to see the dry waterfall with the beautiful bluish-green rock colors andd if you are up for scrambling over take in the 20ft dry fall, huge boulders and chutes. ALWAYS bring plenty of H20, be safe and courteous to others. read more
It's a beautiful arch but nothing extraordinary. Probably my least favorite stop during my recent trip to Death Valley National Park. I was intrigued by how so few people had reviewed this part of the park, but now I can totally see why. That DRIVE! Ouch. Almost turned around. I was just thinking the whole time like... "Is my car gonna make it through this Gawd awful road?". Saw several cars behind me and a few in front of me just turn right around in the middle of the road. It says it's only 1.5 miles to the parking lot, but it feels like a journey because the road is unpaved and bumpy. If you don't have a 4 wheel drive, good luck and drive slooooow. Once you make it to the parking lot, there are a few restrooms and a trail map. But for that crazy ol' drive, this "hike" up to the arch is super short. AllTrails got it extremely wrong. The whole thing is maybe only about a mile roundtrip. You'll hike up a hill which isn't super steep, but it'll definitely have you huffing and puffing (especially in the heat). And then you'll look up and come up on the arch almost without even knowing it. It's not the most rewarding feeling, but the arch is pretty. I don't know... seeing those massive arches in Utah and Arizona has heightened my expectations. This wasn't worth the long bumpy drive in my opinion. If I could do it again, I wouldn't. I'm glad I can cross it off my list, but there are much better places to explore within the park. read more
During our Spring Break trip to Death Valley, we enjoyed various hikes in some of the more wild and desolate parts of the California desert. Still, we didn't push the 4WD hard enough to do anything really daring with my three kids onboard, but thankfully, DVNP offers several canyon hikes with relatively easy access. Among these is Natural Bridge Canyon, a fairly flat hike on a gravel and cobblestone trail through a narrow canyon carved by aeons of erosion. The canyon meanders and curves like the water that created it, with steep walls on either side. Our afternoon arrival time kept us mostly in shadows, and the deep gullies and caves in the canyon walls piqued our imaginations. Within the first mile or so, you reach the "natural bridge" part of the hike: a minor arch where water undercut the sandstone and conglomerate above, creating a short tunnel of sorts. Pretty. I've visited more awe-inspiring arches in other parks-- Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Capitol Reef, Grosvenor Arch... still, this is one of the prettier and easier hikes if you're bringing littluns along. Always carry lots of water and a few snacks here. Your cell phone probably won't work either. read more

Nothing that amazing about this arch. You can go further down this canyon to check out other sites, but I found the arch mediocre compared to the other sites/landmarks that Death Valley has to offer. The drive to the canyon is the BUMPIEST road I have EVER been on! It's like the Indiana Jones ride to Disneyland, but funner/worse, depending on how you view it. If you plan to visit the Natural Bridge, be sure to put the Indiana Jones soundtrack while you're driving! It's the most fitting song for the ride up, haha. It's an easy, short hike to the bridge. It's a small incline all the way up to the bridge, so going back down is all decline. If you're looking to see an arch for the first time, this is a good stop. I recommend hiking further down the canyon, as I don't think the drive up is worth JUST to see the arch. Have fun! read more

The natural bridge is impressive but the main value of the site is the opportunity to take a short hike. The first quarter mile is steep and rocky, after that walking is easy. The trail continues after the bridge and dead-ends within one-half mile. The road leading to the parking lot is extremely rough. The road is dirt with many rocks and potholes and washboarding. A sedan can make it if you drive slowly and carefully. There is a single outhouse at the trailhead. read more
Natural Bridge is basically an arch. The road to get here is very rough. It's short, but sure feels a lot longer than that as my car slowly crawls on the bumpy road. My poor car was taking a beating! I drive a compact SUV, but I did see a lot of sedans, so it looks like those cars will make it too. It's an easy hike to get to the bridge, definitely less than a mile one way. The trail is wide and mostly leveled. The bridge itself if not very spectacular, especially compared to the arches at Arches National Park. It's a small arch, but still makes for some good pictures. My sister and I did the standard "pretend you're holding the arch up" photo and we did one where we jumped and formed an arch with our arms while in the air. Ah...good times. This attraction is not as crowded as the others, I suppose because it's not as accessible. And, most people will hike to the arch, snap a few photos, and then just head back. If you're the curious type, you might want to walk further and see what lies beyond the arch. We didn't do that due to time constraints. As with the other Death Valley sites, Natural Bridge is definitely worth a stop. read more
