This is an excellent stop on Route 37, and a great place to visit on a rainy day, or if you're in the market for unique grocery items or homeopathic remedies. Most of the time, I visit the apothecary section of Natural Foods, as the shop is filled with a variety of vitamins, probiotics, cosmetics, incense, and homeopathic goodies. The staff is accommodating and knowledgeable on most of their stuff, although I don't find them very personable, but I don't mind. The grocery store is quite the experience! The store has many different sections, and is almost maze-like. I've only been there once, but it seems that the store has a focus on vegetarian and vegan foods - I don't think you can buy animal protein in this store, but again, perhaps I am mistaken. The store is not the cheapest - not for groceries, anyway - but I don't mind supporting a small business. And the apothecary has a rotating table of clearance items, which I totally appreciate. read more

I really love this food market. I've been going to this location for a few years, and now live quite far but stop in whenever I'm in town. Their little deli in the back is great if you need something on the go, and the pharmacy next door is awesome! The woman that's usually at the counter over there is so so friendly. read more

You can get good, clean, and organic lunch at this little market until their kitchen closes at 1:30. This has quickly replaced my other favorite lunch spots in the area and their menu changes from day to day. You can get a sandwich or wrap and a small soup for around $10. Oh and they're a grocery store and have great products if you want to replace just a few things in your pantry with cleaner and wholesome stuff without committing to organic completely. read more

Luv this place....You can get prepared foods here...I luv there veggie sub wrap, whenever i am in the area i come get one. They have a big selection of wraps, sandwiches, and entrees prepared and ready to go, or you can order from their menu. I also love the fresh juices, i get carrot, apple and ginger all the time, expensive but worth every sip!! They also have homemade soups which are usually good too. read more

Great customer service every time I am here. They are constantly adding new products as well. The kitchen in the back makes great sandwiches and juices which you can call in for to pickup. The vitamin shop next door is a great place to go when you need some supplements, soaps, sunscreen or hair color just to name a few things. I have gone in needing baby teething relief and I am always pointed in the right direction. If they ever have the chance to expand I would love to see a few tables inside to sit and eat at. I was so excited to support a small business that carried grocery options for different lifestyles, and to see a policy that focused on "human interaction" but don't be fooled. I have visited the store multiple times, for full grocery trips, and had mixed experiences every time I shopped. Sad to report that they reserve their good customer service for select customers who fit their target clientele and aren't good at providing a good shopping experience for all. I was disappointed that during my latest visit I was racially profiled by a woman who seemed to be the manager for the shift and I was watched the whole time I shopped and treated coldly, but the cashier was very nice as she rang me up. As a relatively new customer who started visiting since the start of quarantine looking for healthier food options, I won't be returning and letting everyone know of my experience. Guess I'll have to drive the extra miles to Whole Foods. read more

We were so excited to find Natural Foods General Store. We love their fresh squeezed juices and healthy food options. We are new to the Store and were not aware of hours when fresh squeezed juices are available. Yesterday, we stopped in around 3pm and were told in a rude terse manner, that fresh squeezed juices were not available then. As I was leaving, I was shocked to hear the staff say "good". We are life long juicers and have a business as well. We wanted to be sure management has an opportunity to improve their staffs' interaction with customers. read more

Visiting Toms River NJ for the first time and was struggling to find healthy vegetarian food options. But, thanks to Yelp found this little oasis of yummy options. I have been shopping here twice a month now for over ten years and I spend close to $200 for the month. Staff is friendly and there is a lot of food I like. But the one star review is because of the non-scanning system when you check out which can be a problem at times. It is hard to match up what you purchased when there are no names on the receipt. It's only bulk, grocery and produce and there is no price per lb shown on receipts. So this takes time to figure it all out and when there is a discrepancy, it's takes time to go down there to fix it. I think for a few items, it's great but when you do a big order it's a different playing field. Especially now with online shopping these days which offers much convenience and discounts for bulk orders plus each item bought is stated on your receipt making things a lot clearer. read more

The staff is very friendly, and they have a good, small selection of natural foods. I am frustrated at their "bulk" selection--which is all pre-packaged in plastic, no bulk bins. We are trying to cut down on our plastic consumption, and it is frustrating that we have to drive to Spring Lake or to the Middletown Whole Foods to access bulk foods. read more
