I am from the West Coast and am pretty particular about seafood as a whole. I've gone into local restaurants and was like ohhhhhh I can taste that this shrimp was frozen. Ohhhh kay... We normally love shopping here, but recently they did 3 things that are quite irritating…read more 1. Recently they've been changing up the ReadyMeals in many ways. Firstly they removed the tortillas from the taco kit, eventually replacing the kit with a "bowl" with most of the same ingredients, but seemingly less chicken and no tortillas. A very problematic change they've made to seemingly ALL of their ReadyMeals is removing cooking/heating instructions. Not only does that seem like a hazard, but it certainly makes it quite the challenge when trying to cook a pizza in the oven. Does it need 350 or 400°? Does it need 8, 10, 15, 20, or 25 minutes to properly cook? These factors vary by each type of pizza. Is the fraction of a cent saved on printer ink on the label worth the customer dissatisfaction? I would think not. 2. They removed all the wall art of the history of Wichita Falls, which had previously made the store feel more "local" and less "uninspired corporate cookie cutter location." 3. They moved the Dublin sodas (a local to Texas brand) to 4 different places around the store and have slowly been phasing them out. Of course, starting with our favorite 1891 Founder's Recipe Cola, followed by our second favorite the Cherry Limeade. We used to buy 6-12 bottles every 1-2 weeks. Normally I could see this being an issue with a lack of demand, but they were constantly sold out of those 2 flavors. I don't expect the 2nd change to be addressed, but it would be nice if the 1st and 3rd would be addressed. Regardless, staff is always friendly and helpful.

There are very few organics, no bulk section, no fresh seafood, and the counter that could be used for fresh seafood/meats next to the deli is used for prepared fried foods instead. I have found that all United stores carry a lot of Dole brand produce, when they could supply customers with local produce (i.e. lettuce, mushrooms, etc.). The store tends to hire polite cashiers and has a nice manager who generally goes out of his way to greet customers or carry groceries to their car. On the other hand, two of the deli associates go out of their way to be rude and unaccommodating. Other than that I would say that this is an ok store to buy some basics, but thats about it.

I am the founder of the local reptile rescue and reptile wildlife rehabilitation org in town, and from nearly the day Natural Grocers in WF opened, I was welcomed by the GM, Aaron, to come in and get culled produce I could use to feed the animals, which ordinarily would go into compost for the city. I was surprised. I previously picked up cast off produce from United, which were often quite obvious they had passed their best sale by date. But the produce NG is taking OFF the shelves is better than I see ON the shelves at Wal Mart. No comparison. And when it gets a blemish or a little over ripe, we know discerning customers are going to pass that one by, so they're always good about rotating it, and my animals benefit now from the best slightly off condition produce in town! Many of the critters I rescue and rehab are either herbivores, or omnivores, and this produce aids greatly in keeping expenses of the rescue down. But, there's more than that. I don't just pick up stuff from them. This is also my preferred store to pick up essential oils and supplements for medicinal purposes for personal and rescue use. I use the tea tree and oregano oils for topical medicinal purposes, or oral rinses. I use eucalyptus and lemongrass oil for natural insect control outside the rescue, to keep down the mosquitoes around the turtle housing outside. And their supplement selection is even bigger than the dedicated supplements store I used to visit. I use many of these supplements for treating animals as an alternative to pharmaceuticals that can't be afforded, such as hibiscus, and quercetin. I also find that the range of selection for each product is impressively wide, with many choices for whatever budget you have. Being an animal rescuer, I can't always get too spendy with a $20 bottle of whatever supplement I need. But I've always been able to find a smaller bottle, different concentration, or different brand that would fit what I came in there to spend. I was even recently surprised when I saw that the Blue Sky natural sodas were only .59 each, and I began grabbing a few whenever I stopped by. This is a great store, with great people, and what they do to give back is very much appreciated. read more

I love NG! Wichita Falls doesn't really have anywhere else focused on organic produce and home products, so I was very excited to hear we were getting one a few years ago. There is a good selection, and it is a a realatively cheap cost compared to many organic stores. Another thing I really support about them is that instead of just throwing away barely expired food, they will give it to the local wildlife rescues. I know this really helps out the Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue, a small rescue that is short staffed(one person) that has homed and healed not just reptiles, but other animals when no one else would. I love that NG is letting him bring reptiles up on the weekend to help educate people about them. Way to be part of the local community NG! :) read more

I appreciate that Natural Grocers has given Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue an opportunity to educate the public on local wildlife. I commend your establishment for donating expired product to his rescue. He has on several occasions helped me with horned lizards I briefly capture identifying the sex of the specimen and noting size and the general health of the animal. My Daughter and I, earlier this spring rescued a baby Fox Squirrel, we consulted with him and he guided us through care procedures until 4 that morning and followed our progress until we got the little guy to a local rescue that afternoon. The Wichita Falls Natural Grocers store is my go-to spot for hard to find items like unusual types of flour that I sometimes use. They always seem to have things in stock that would otherwise have to be ordered. I also am very pleased that they aid our local reptile rescuer Mike (Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue) by their donations to his work in the form of vegetables that can no longer be sold. In effect they, too, are helping to rescue these animals that would probably not make it. I am happy to see that they value nature by contributing to our local rescuer's excellent work. read more

Your store is great! My mom and I have shopped in there numerous times. We love the essential oils you carry! We also enjoy the interaction that Wichita Falls Reptile Rescue has with the community. He is a VERY knowledgeable man. He has helped me on numerous occasions with baby bunnies. He helps other people with the reptiles he finds or that people are having a hard time with their health. Wichita Falls reptile rescue has been so helpful with expert information on the care of my box tortoises and iguana. Mike has been a valuable resource I've relied upon for years! I'm so glad that Natural Grocers gives expired veggies and other perishables to this worthy organization. All donations to Mike and this rescue go straight to the rescue and the animals. I killed time looking around the store, so I know what to look for if I need it in near future. Pizza and wings were very much to my liking, taste as good as any other Hunt Brothers. As if this wasn't bad enough, at checkout my sister-in-law swiped her target discount card for me just as a kindness, and when my payment wouldn't process, one of the employees stepped in and YELLED at me about how "using that discount doesn't work without a target red card" and rolled her eyes at us. I mean, geez... I'm sorry that I wasn't aware. I'm sorry that your day was so terrible you couldn't take 2 seconds to ask us if we needed help rather than immediately choose to be nasty. I would say do better, but honestly - learn how to be human. Being petty & mean is uncalled for. You never know what people could be going through. I would also like to say that by the time we got to the car, it was 11:06..... They closed at 11. If a 6 minute delay is enough to make you treat people maliciously, you need some real soul-searching. I hope you learn to treat people with respect.
