I've been a patient of Natural Way for about 5 years. I had the same issue flare up both in 2016 and this year. In those two sets of visits, Dr Rissman developed a base line for my lower back issues that were mostly due to age and arthritis. He carefully reviewed the x rays in the first visit. He tried a variety of treatments and we landed on a stretching of the lower back on a decompression type machine for several visits. It helps to rehydrate the discs and with a few treatments, it was much improved. I walk and run a lot and hike and climb in the Rockies often, and four years later it recurred. We tried a few regular treatments and went back to the decompression. A few treatments and I am fine again. What really meant a lot to me were the following. 1- the staff to a person is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. 2- in 9 visits this year, I never waited for my appointment. They have established an electronic record system that knows when I walk in and scan a card. It makes sure that my records beat me to the treatment area and all the notes and pics are readily available. 3 - The paperwork is minimal, and the staff is great at keeping up with my needs between appts. the Doc and the staff allow me to participate in the decisions about me treatment 4. - Finally, and very important in these times, everyone wore masks, keeps a proper distance, and the equipment is freshly cleaned between patients and even more often some times. read more

This review is specific to the Overland Park location only. During my adjustment Dr Fenton accidentally injured my left leg it got pinched between my right leg and the bed. He blamed the thin beds. My leg swelled and bruised I did not feel the need to call the office as that is the natural process of healing. It wasn't until many months later that I noticed the area of my leg was still sore to the touch so I called the office Caitlyn the manager said she would talk to owner. I did not receive a call back so I called again and Caitlyn explained because I did not revisit the office there is nothing the owner would do. Again Dr Fenton acknowledged and supposedly documented the incident. This incident happened 2 years ago and I still can't touch that area of my leg without discomfort. I wish I could give this place more than 1 star. The services I received were great, but their communication with me regarding those services were awful. I started my services with them based on a free consultation referral. Upon my first visit, I was given the options for setting up a plan, including a payment plan. After the first couple visits, the amount due was much higher than what we had previously agreed on. I was assured the payments would decrease as my treatment continued, but they didn't. After stopping my treatments, I received a large bill in the mail. It was explained that even though I was making payments after each visit, the total they had given me was not the full total due, and a balance has been accruing the entire time. Rather than telling me that the balance had gone up from what was previously discussed, they kept charging me the same amount, and allowed an additional balance to keep building, which they then mailed to me upon my termination of services. A simple heads up would have been great, but I never received it. In the end, both me and my girlfriend (who recommended me here in the first place) have stopped our treatments. I would strongly discourage folks from this place, and find a place that is a little more transparent on what they are charging you for. read more

My experience was not a good one. I have a severe back pain (still) and went to this office yesterday. They took x-rays and said they would study them and for me to return today. I have never had a chiropractor not do a treatment the same day. Last night, I could not sleep because of the pain, and this morning I collapsed on my kitchen floor while simply trying to feed my pets. When I got to work, I messaged them simply wanting to confirm they were going to do something about the pain today. It's almost unbearable. Over two hours after they opened and four hours after my message, silence. No response at all. I have cancelled my appointment and will not make another one. Every chiropractor I have ever used has treated pain the same day, not put it off, x-rays or not. I honestly have to wonder if they are just trying to drag things out as long as possible to make as much money as they can. It simply makes no sense to me to put off treatment and then not respond when questioned on it. read more

I have been going to this chiropractor for some time now and they have always treated me with top-notch support. This is a very professional environment that really knows how to take care of their clients. I remember not too long ago I hurt my back and was not able to walk. When I finally was able to crawl and limp I went to the chiropractor and was able to get fixed up pretty quickly. This chiropractor office is unique in the sense that it is state of the art. You are given a card to swipe which has all of your info on it. The intercom then tells you which room to go into and you swipe your card in the room and your info comes up on the computer. You are able to see your x-rays and diagnosis if you want. When you first arrive they complete an extensive analysis of your situation and watch how you walk and carry yourself. You are given excercises and posture reminders to help get better. They recently added some water massage machines which work wonders and you don't have to have an appointment. They also have decompression machines, a physical therapy room and a tiens machine. I have had all of the services here and it has helped me tremendously. I've even had ultrasound on my back to break up scar tissue... feels good after the fact. The doctor that I recommend is Dr. Brian Rissman. He has really worked with me and actually listens to what you have to say. It's not just about his own interpretation of what he thinks you have, but rather what you know hurts. The front counter girls are nice and call you to remind you of an appointment or to reschedule. If you are looking for a new chiropractic office, then this is the place to go! read more

I got a card from this place in the old settler's day a couple years ago. My neck/jaw was hurting and I was on the hunt for a new chiropractor. I called for an appointment and showed up. Upon walking in I thought I had stepped more into a spa place than a doctor's office. All staff was pleasant and willing to listen to your issues. Only irritation was I just wanted an alignment but on first visit they just took info and xrays and I was told to come back. Coming back I did like the card swiping and automated voice to tell you which room to go to. I did get adjusted and a massage on my 2nd trip. It's a nice place. So nice that you better have great insurance to pay for it. Which I did not and therefore only went the 2 times. read more

Have been able to go in person at the start of my treatment and have been feeling better each time I go. They are friendly and concerned about what is happening with you. They don't just think of you as another number. I like that they can remember my name and I have never had to wait very long for any of my appointments. This is a very nice office. So much that they need to pressure sell you to be a patient. They put on the hard sell, make you watch this ridiculous movie, "proving" that chiropractic is the ONLY way to solve health problems. The office staff is very pushy to get you to make multiple appointments. They want to put you on a payment plan - to sucker you in for life. The office is beautiful, with lots of gadgets - but I don't know how honest they are in their priorities. To me, patient care should always be first. read more

While doctors here seem knowledgable, their billing practices seem deceptive. I've used Natural Way twice, a couple years apart, and had bad experiences both times with two separate doctors. I asked VERY specific questions regarding what to expect cost wise for treatments before starting a treatment plan. I was told one thing but charged an entirely different amount!!!! This happened when I was using my insurance the first time and again recently as a cash paying customer. I only gave them a second chance because I thought maybe I had misunderstood the first time I sought out treatment. But make no mistake, I did not misunderstand anything upon this return. My visit to Natural Way was a very horrible experience. I was to meet with one doctor and given a completely different person (who by the way is not listed on their website). All I wanted was a simple adjustment and some relief for some minor back pain that had gone on for about two weeks and instead they ran all sorts of tests and then told me I would have to come back the next day to get results. In my opinion this is simply to get more money out of me and when I asked how much the follow up appointment would be they wouldn't tell me how much it would cost. I was just very lucky that with stretching and such this has gone away....there is a reason at 36 I have never been to a chiropractor and will never go back. I will only be going to my Primary Care doctor going forward. It was a lesson learned both fiscally and emotionally; however, it was a total smoke and mirrors situation that I will not forget anytime soon! I hope someone sees this before going here, I just wish I had been smart enough to think to check Yelp first; however, I got a referral from someone and didn't, SHAME ON ME!!! read more
