Also in this branch the customers sometimes stand far too close to you in the queue and often don't give you enough privacy at the desk.

I called at Lloyds Bank while shopping in Birmingham to simply do some basic banking at the ATM…read moremachines, knowing I can do near enough everything here I can at my bank, being a member of TSB, who are part of the same "banking group" as Lloyds but in the past few years split, after previously trading together. I didn't have any interactions with the staff so can't comment on that in detail, but they seemed okay. They was a decent number of cash machines inside, which were easy to use and in good condition. The inside of the bank was quite nice and modern, and I'm sure I remember seeing a second floor as well, there were machines for paying in money and withdrawing it, your typical ATM'S. This is a nice bank to have in a city center of a town like Birmingham, fairly close to the New Street Train Station too and a short walk from the Bullring and Grand Central, and I have to agree with the average rating for this place that it deserves a solid 3 stars!

What we have here is a large open plan banking experience in bright green trade marked Lloyds Colours. There are 2 desks for info, a number of tills and seated areas to wait or sit and complete your banking before joining the que. There are a number of self service deposit machines and letter boxes if you wanted to avoid queing.

Its quite small inside, so at busy times can be ackward with a pushchair. The comfy seats to wait on are also a bit squished together, even though they are slightly out of the way of the main queues. Some of the managers here so try the hard sell on my partner but alway done with a pleasant attitude and normally take a firm no as an answer. There are 2 cash machines outside which frequently have queues to use due to them being the closest cash machines to this part of the town centre.

There are normally plenty of counter staff although be prepared to queue at peak times. There are plenty of staff in the other areas waiting to help you with personal banking and there is also a business banking section. There are cash machines both inside and out if you want to bypass the counters.

They have a large branch, with lots of counters, although they can get very, very busy at the weekends and the wait can be annoying, same in most banks. They have desk areas when you can sit with someone for help and offices for super private business.

It is on New Street close to Odeon. This store is much better than the last one despite only showing minor differences, they now seem more willing to offer customers rather than just new-customers a hot drink, while they did seem a little understaffed; the staff that were working seemed helpful and the ATM's are faster than they were when I visited last which is good. The opening hours are pretty average, I do find them to shut far too early on a Saturday in general however at 4 pm, of course being closed on Sunday's too. This bank always seems quite busy, It is the town centre near where the market is now so is quite…read morehandy. The bank itself isn't the largest but I never seem to queue for long. The staff always seem helpful and the customer service desk is always busy but well staffed. They used to have a car park behind but not anymore. If you are coming in by bus to the town it is quite a trek, I have never had a problem here although with it being quite small can sometimes be a pain getting the push chair round.

The open plan counter and feeling that someone might kick off with a bank manager in a side room is something I always notice when I'm waiting to pay in here. The counter staff are always pretty helpful and the days of endless paying in paperwork are long gone. There isn't really a quiet time in this bank..as it's steady from 10am until 4pm so I don't have a fab tip for what time to visit..
