Are you kidding me? £13 for 2 hours parking. Unbelievable. Tiny spaces make it really hard to park. Filthy lifts that I wouldn't step foot in other than having to get the kids pushchair down from the 6th floor. What a rip off. read more

Large car drivers need to be aware of the limited car park entrance size as it is somewhat narrow with a height of 1.9m. Front door fob key entry was a plus ! Good Wi-Fi. In a nutshell the property in question is in need of some T.L.C. Location is good, close to centre and seafront. Breakfast was good. The two staff I spoke with were pleasant enough. Eastbourne itself is what you expect from an ageing town. The sea front is flat which was ideal for our wheelchair. Toilets available as you meander along, free at the moment, but there are barriers installed for high season use I guess. There is a choice of theatres, depending on your choice. This review should be taken as constructive criticism.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are all bright and very comfortable, decorated in neutral colours enlivened by attractive modern artwork. There are specious lounge areas for those who wish to meet with friends, take advantage of the free WiFi, or read in quiet, comfortable surroundings - but most of the bedrooms also have easy chairs and satellite TV. Onsite parking is provided for all guests, which is a real bonus in this part of Eastbourne. And the breakfast... well that is superb - and very generous! The sea, the shops and the theatres are all just short stroll away so, although you won't have a sea view at The Sheldon, the location is close to perfect. It will be a regular bolt hole for me in future.

Every tourist traveling by car seems to want to arrive in Brighton via the coast road. This is the first real carpark they will encounter. Because of its location it takes cars away from driving into the centre. This enables the city roads to be less jammed. I once heard that all the squares off this main coastal route wished to have such underground carparks. The Regency square turned out to be the only one that didn't have an ancient river below it or any other problems stopping such a project.

Just earlier today actually, I was stuck in a traffic jam for about half an hour simply trying to navigate the queue of cars waiting at this venue's rather complicated entrance. If you ever manage to get inside though you'll find it a satisfying, worry-free experience. Crime, as far as I'm aware, isn't a problem, and you can stay here for a relatively long durations of time - for a cost of course -. Payment can be made with notes, coins and cards.

This little muse is called Cambridge Grove and is packed with little backstreet garages. These types of place are often given a bad rep by the media and larger dealers and service centres. In a number of cases this is totally unwarranted. Kingpin Auto services is a prime example if this. The Guys who work here are professional, polite and surprisingly cheap. As you enter the garage it's a little unclear where you should be heading or indeed if you should be in there at all. But once you've cautiously made your way past the ramps and filthy oil drums you reach an office at the back and will probably be met by Steve or John. The two of them have been uncommonly cheery every time I've been to see them and they can normally get any work you need doing done the same week. Be careful where you park though as with so many garages on such a small street the traffic can be a nightmare and the politics around parking a total minefield.

He prides himself in providing an honest service by outsourcing the MOT to Kwikfit and therefore not being the one who decides what work you need doing on your car. This is not a bad thing in itself but unfortunately he does not have the ethical behaviour to back this up. He is not upfront about the fact that he does not carry out MOTs, so it was news to me when me car was not at the garage. He said I 'just didn't ask the right questions' and he didn't say he did MOTs he believes he said 'I will sort it for you'. Had I known he would not carry out the MOT himself I would of gone elsewhere for 2 reasons, 1 it would have saved me £30 as he charges £65.82 (inc VAT - not normally charged for MOTs) Kwikfit MOT £35 and 2.) It would have been quicker. He had my car for 2 full working days and over the weekend even though it only had 2 and a half hours work to be done on it. And even then it seemed too much trouble to get it back from Kwikft at my convenience and instead I had to wait for a time when his wife could collect it! However, the main reason I would not return is because he was aggressive, unpleasant and had no concern for customer service, claiming things were 'out of his hands' even though when I rang Kwikfit directly they were more than happy to help. He barked at me in his office for over ten minutes when I queried the MOT bill, claiming he 'had to make a living and put food on the table' 'did I want him to work for free' (at £62 per hour for the work he did it was hardly free) and then concluded 'well next time I will put £30 extra on the labour - you'd never know'. But no this is a real working garage. Where you can come and get your classic car, four by four or even regular car repaired, MOT'd or diagnosed. It's owned and run by a chap Called Phil Woodhams and a lovely lady who I took to be his wife. As you talk to him it becomes quite quickly apparent that the signs are no gimmick, this guy is old school in his understanding of vehicles and his attitude to service. No bad language, no jargon or sucking through the teeth at enquiries, just a really pleasant and personal approach. He also harbours a great interest and knowledge of classic bikes. This is what brought me his away (apart from my love of all things old and automotive) this morning. My old bike had started making a strange grinding noise from what I thought was the gear box and without hesitation he came over and took a good look at it for me. There was no charge and his diagnostic proved to be spot on.
