Their providers all have bios on the website so you can try to discern who may be right for you. I originally went to Great Oaks to get an appointment with the psychologist but she books out about 4 months in advance so I ended up seeing the nurse practitioner (who met all my needs just fine). Maria at the front desk is friendly and professional. If you go to the office with any regularity she'll learn your name. Great Oaks is in the same building as Don Bacon's office at the moment. The building is currently undergoing renovations but most offices seem to be open. My main gripe is the quality of the bathrooms (super outdated and dirty looking stalls, toilets, sinks, and dryers) which I'm hoping will improve with the renovations.

Unfortunately, after the death of my son (when I needed support the most) the person who scheduled the appointment did not put the appointment down as EAP, therefore it was run through my insurance. I had no knowledge of this for almost 2 years because I never received a bill. Upon receiving the bill, it stated the bill would be turned over to a collections agency. Again, my assumption because I shared with the office I was using my EAP benefit as an employee of Nebraska Medicine was that I would not receive a bill. When speaking with the provider she was very argumentative and defensive. She then blamed me not receiving a bill on COVID and apologized for that, but then in the same sentence stated her staff was competent and couldn't have made an error. She compared the death of her husband to the death of my son. Anyone who has lost a child is well aware this is not even in the same universe as it relates to grief and loss, which speaks to her incompetence as a provider. If your company contracts with Associated Counseling Professionals for their EAP program be aware you may receive sub par care and errors in billing. Sadly, they already are paid by a 3rd party for this service, so billing insurance is double dipping. Just an FYI, if you experience a situation like this and should not have been billed, as of July 2023 any medical bill less than $500 will not be reported on your credit report. That being said, many years prior my husband and I did use the EAP service for marriage counseling and had an ok experience with that provider.

I battle the daily ins and outs of Ehlers Danlos, and with a recent scapular issue that would not…read morego away, I found myself working with Dr. Steskal and his Nurse Practitioner to see if there were any atypical or more non-conventional treatment options. They started me on peptides, and we have been doing adjustments and trigger point injections once a week. It is never perfect recovery as anyone with Ehlers Danlos knows, but I feel that they are always trying to think of other alternatives to try to get the persistent inflammation and muscle strain under control. I reached out to Divine Ascension, I had never tried Reiki before Michael explained what Reiki was, how it could help me, walked me through the process. After a brief conversation on what I was feeling and on what I was trying to accomplish we began. After my session I felt lighter, calmer, we spoke about what I was feeling, how he felt about the session as well. I left there feeling better. Michael also followed up with me to see how I was feeling and if I had any questions or concerns. I will definitely be going back for future sessions.
