Very disappointing experience.
The courier held onto this job for around 7 days after accepting it on Shiply, despite repeated requests to either confirm a delivery date or release the job if he was unable to complete it. Communication throughout was poor and unclear.
When he finally confirmed delivery, we specifically asked for at least 1 hour's notice so arrangements could be made for someone to be available. Instead, we received very short notice while I was still around 45 minutes away.
To avoid wasting his journey, I arranged for my mechanic/garage to receive the doors on my behalf and transferred the money to them so they could pay the courier cash on arrival. The mechanic had to quickly go to a nearby cash point (around 5 minutes away); however, the courier refused to wait and drove off with the doors immediately after being told payment was being arranged.
Following this, we started receiving demands for significantly more money than the original agreed delivery price, eventually rising to over £300 to have the doors returned or redelivered. We were uncomfortable transferring large sums upfront with no guarantee that the goods would actually be returned.
We later tried to resolve matters amicably by offering additional money above the original agreed amount as a compromise, including part payment upfront and the remainder on delivery, but communication then went silent again.
Overall, this has been extremely stressful, time-consuming, and has left us without our goods. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution. read more
