Quote was a lot cheaper than I was expecting and was able to book in for the next week. My bumper was sticking out at a funny angle from the side panel so they even got it back into shape for free before they let me drive home again. I live out in South Belfast and they stayed around about half an hour they should have closed so I could collect my car the same day. I've been restoring my Mercedes C200 coupe for several months, and it's nearly finished - I brought…read moreit to the dealers for very specific repairs, only to be told that the mechanic was 'afraid' to diagnose the stuck sun-roof, in case he broke it. I was then charged for 2 hours labour to change door seals that should have required at most 15 minutes each. I was also charged for repairing a design flaw that causes motor oil to wick through the engine wiring loom. I had agreed to £1800 pounds in repairs - which they couldn't do because 'autoglass' wasn't available to remove the glass from the hatch - for several days, because they can't do that at the dealer. Basically they made it ultra clear that they could only work on my car under the following conditions: 1. I had to leave it with them for an indefinite period of time. 2. I had to agree to pay over £3000 for an entirely new sunroof (and all mechanics) before they would try to fix mine at all (which is merely stuck on the left side). 3. They will not do 'complete' repairs if electronics attached to glass is involved, relying on third parties to accomplish anything related to glass - and they have no priority for this work with their providers. Ultimately, the worst part is that they put an uninformed agent in-between you and the mechanic - so the mechanic can say whatever they want to the agent or the back office, the agent then just tells you that they don't understand everything because they are not mechanics. When I did speak to the mechanic, I was assured that all would be done, but the agent failed to coordinate the glass work in time, so nothing happened at all. - But I still got charged over £500 for what should have cost about £100. I will never buy another Mercedes - just because of this and I'll never recommend anyone else do so either.

After some research (on Yelp of course) I headed to Gilnahirk Tyres, even though it was on the other side of town from where I lived. I initially called to see what their prices were like and was told it was going to be £20 for a quick check over - I was happy enough with that as I didn't think much needed done. I arrived at 8:20am and it was absolutely rammed, must have been 5 cars queued in front of me - I was actually quite hesitant about going ahead with the service but I popped in to the reception and spoke to Billy and he said Bay 2 would be free in a few minutes! After that it was all straight forward - the car was in for a check over. The mechanic came out and told me I needed two new tyres so I went ahead and got them. £40 per tyre seemed ok with me. I was expecting to pay £100 - £20 for the service and £80 for both new tyres but to my surprise they only charged me £80 as the service was free if any extra work needed completing! This is genius and a lovely surprise. I was home by 9:15 am! The service was great. It may look chaotic but they know exactly what they are doing! They even offer an MOT service where they take your car to the centre for you while you're at work! Easy five stars!

The time I went to Gillnahirk to get new tyres for my beloved first car (which was a Suzuki Swift…read moreaffectionately known as Swifty to all who encountered it!) I had a pleasant and professional experience. I prearranged a time to come down to their garages to get them sorted, which was a painless process. There are about 4 different ramp areas so in busy times you should be able to get serviced efficiently. I was able to get 4 brand new tyres for £90 which was very reasonable. They performed their ask very fast, and I was in and out of the place in about five minutes, I felt like I was in some sort of formula one pit stop! The garage will take payments via both card and cash for when you are short on immediate funds! I have never had to have my exhaust serviced by them, but I am sure that if their tyre service is anything to go by it would be a quick and reasonably priced service!
