I am 41 years old, had back/neck issues off and on throughout most of my adult life, and had never even considered going to see a Chiropractor. Then I met Dr. Nelson. He met with me, ran some tests, and then gave me a thoughtful, thourough explaination of what he was seeing, and how it was impacting me. He described the technique he uses (It's called the "Activator Technique") which involves absolutely no twisting, cracking, bending, popping, etc., just basically the use of a small handheld device that is completely comfortable. We discussed a treatment plan that he had written and I took it home to discuss it with my wife. Two days later I was in a car accident. This time I had injuries in different areas of my back and neck that would definitely require treatment because I was in pain, so I decided to go forward with some treatment. Dr. Nelson and his staff are terrific. I had surgery for a herniated disk over ten years ago and recently experienced back spasms that kept me down for a week at a time. I love Nelson Chiropractic! I injured my back playing on the waves of Maui so badly that I was unable to work as a toddler teacher. I went to Nelson Chiropractic thinking he was going to come in and just step and push and crack my back all old school and without much to go on except that I said it hurt alot. Not the case at all! He took time to run some tests, take x-rays, and then create a plan to put me back together. Even after the first session, I had a substantial improvement in balance (something I thought I had just because I was clumsy!). I have been going for about six months and feel better than before I even injured my back. I was also armed with knowledge and information about how to take care better care of my spine. Nelson Chiropractic has been a lifesaver! I have been dealing with recurring lower back issues for four years now and every other professional I have seen has thrown muscle relaxers and narcotic pain relievers at the problem. Wanting a better solution and quality of life than that, I searched out other options and found Dr. Nelson. Even after the first adjustment, I was able to stand straighter (not upright, but better) and had less pain. This hasn't been an overnight fix, but it has been the only treatment that has made a difference and offered any hope outside of pills to alleviate my pain. I notice that Dr. Nelson does not have enough reviews on Yelp. This does not mean that he is any less than someone, who has 40 five star reviews, it just means that he does not specifically ask his patients to review him. Me and my husband have been going to him for the past 10 years and every single time, he has fixed our issue. It has varied from general shoulder ache, knee pain or back ache to bruxism. In fact, he fixed my 2 month old daughter's acid reflux in 3 sittings. Like other reviewers have pointed out, the activator form of chiropractic is very gentle and yet very effective. Dr. Nelson is very sweet, patient and encouraging to all his patients. His staff is awesome and he tries to accommodate you as soon as possible, which always is a plus when you are in pain. After a year of niggling back problems, my husband convinced me to go see Dr. Nelson. After a thorough assessment, Dr. Nelson was able to tell me about a scoliosis that I had no idea I had. After some regular visits, I was feeling better than ever before. Dr. Nelson and his staff are friendly and accommodating and his methods are gentle and effective. We even have our five-year old son looked at now and again to straighten out all the scooter falls he accumulates. I have to credit Dr. Nelson for saving me from a sedentary lifestyle. After years of hitting the gym, my 52-year-old body felt worn out with lots of aches and pains. Dr. Nelson addressed each and every issue I had -- from lower back discomfort to achilles tendonitis. My tendonitis problem, which had bothered me for years, was gone after only one month of intensive treatment. And my back and a couple of other troublesome areas are also much improved. I still see Dr. Nelson about once a week to make sure my condition doesn't deteriorate to where it had been, and I have to say I really do feel a lot better, not to mention younger. I was completely down on my back and by the encouragement of my walking partner I called Dr. Nelson's office. Even as a new patient he saw me the next day. Best Chiropractor in the area. When I first started with him I could barely walk and was told I would need surgery. Tried fasset injections and many other chiropractors for many different types of treatments and physical therapy with no improvement.
