The loss of 1 star is the pricing - outrageous! She wanted $200 to alter a bridesmaids gown (I didn't even pay that much for my wedding dress!) and while I understand it had some rouching detail on the bodice, she gave me some weird explanation that the hem was 'complicated' and would take a lot of time. I probably would have believed her but FORTUNATELY, I got a second opinion, and as my gut told me - she was WAY overpriced. Someone else was willing to do it for 1/2 that cost. Maybe it won't be as good of quality, but it is a one-time wear dress. I am not looking to spend a fortune. I also brought a jacket/blazer that I needed the sleeves narrowed and slightly shortened. She wanted $84! WHAT?! More than the jacket was worth! Then she preceded to tell me, I obviously don't have much experience with getting clothes tailored. Granted, I don't think she meant that the way it came out, but still a little rude. Especially since I DO have experience getting LOTS of clothes tailored and have had the same thing done for $30 or less on heavier coats. Again - someone else was willing to do the same job for $20. The loss of another star is the availability for an appointment - she has limited hours on Saturdays (only works until 12) and is not available past dark on weekdays. Good for her to be able to keep those hours and still make a profit! But unfortunately, I work a typical work shift and can't get to an appointment midday during the week. So basically - if you want a Chanel piece altered, she is probably your woman, as her work is probably beautiful and (like her name suggests) couture. But if you're like most of us and just need some pieces altered for a better fit, I think she is WAY overpriced for basic needs.
