Anton at Le Leon had no trouble taking charge of my overgrown, processed and lifeless blonde mane! He has a great eye and is very comfortable making recommendations that are spot on! I liked the small quaint salon and the dog that sits in a chair right next to the washing station! He has a mix of clientele from all ages- and that means plenty of other people trust him, too! I went there back in September to get my highlights done. This tedious and expensive process - the bane of many a blonde's life - had become increasingly frequent as my hair had got very blonde from too much highlighting over the years and bleached from a 3-month trip to Asia. Although I loved the colour, my hair had become dry, dull, overprocessed and very knotty with dark roots coming through very quickly. The manager and lovely Linzi spent a good half hour explaining to me why instead of redoing my highlights as usual, I should tone the colour down. They convinced me I would gain more contrast in the colour, and have shinier and healthier locks as a result. They also told me how by adding darker tones I would end up needing to come in much less often. I was reluctant at the time to take their advice, but now my hair is indeed healthier and shinier as a result...and I'm still blonde, just a bit darker. I also now only need my highlights doing every three months rather than every six weeks. No other hairdresser in all my years of highlighting has ever suggested this approach. Apart from this, Le leon has got all the essential ingredients of a fine hairdressers - skilled cutters (Linzi and Paula are my favourites), plentiful and current magazines, decent complimentary coffee and one of the finest head massages-during-your-hairwash I've sampled. One time a few years ago, I was mid-massage and mid-moan and tilted my head to notice Geri Halliwell at the next door sink. So it's got celebrity cache too. Definitely a cut above the rest.

On my first visit I didn't get the desired color, therefore, YUkiko offered me to come back the following week to fix my color, and I would require to pay if I need bleaching, otherwise I won't. I like how my haircut went, I just trimmed about 2-3 inches n cleaned up the end since bleaching pretty much kill my hair anyways lol. My other half had a hair cut all went well, he had a junior stylist cut his hair n he payed 35£ n he like it so that's all it matters. The décor of the treatment room was lovely and it smelled really nice, but I wasn't impressed by the music. I intended to book another massage with him next month, after he finished the massage, but Chris informed me that he would be leaving this month and I asked where he would be going, but I forgot, so I called Aveda to find out, who informed me that they don't know, right! Don't waste any time and book a massage with him now, as he will be gone soon. 100% highly recommended.

I wanted to treat myself during the holidays, and somehow came across about a new salon opening in Liberty. Oh well, if I am going to indulge, at least do it at an iconic location, right? So here I am, 3rd floor of Liberty's with a view over Carnaby Street with a cup of Earl Grey in the cutest cup ever seen in history. I could have gone for a Bellini, but for some reason I decided to be good. And there I met Natalia. You can see Natalia knows what she is doing, so I instantly decided to trust her. Yes, even when she took some scissors to cut 5cm off the bottom of ALL MY HAIR! Although I didn't end up with something exceedingly complicated, she made a few choices that were adapted both to my hair type and face shape. It seems silly, but it made an incredible overall difference, and not enough hairdressers do it. She also took the time to show me how to get the best out of my hair and took the time to give me 101 blow-dry and a "fun-with-straighteners" class (although I haven't been really good at reproducing the sexy beach waves myself yet. But I'm the one to blame here). And that people, is good service. Cherry on top? They use a range of products from Davines. Don't know them? Try them. Especially if you have coloured hair. Overall, and despite the location, I did not have to break the bank to get a good haircut. Only downside? I'm now only going to be going to Liberty's to get my hair done.

A quaint, quiet wee street with a slight Dickensian air to it. The small, independently run salon was a breath of fresh air from the faceless anonymity of the big chain salons I've patronised in the past. It was obvious from the outset that Rick knows about hair and he took a good look at mine and had good chat with me before whipping out the scissors. The result is that I'm now delighted that my hair no longer makes me look like Tina Turner circa 1990 and is very pretty, and I'm ever so pleased. Moreover I feel confident that should I ever have any further hair disasters or even small queries; I know exactly where to go. I will certainly be recommending the Rose & Crown to whomever shall listen and I will definitely be returning whether for a new do, colour, manicure or massage (yes, they do all that in one cosy wee place! As an idiot student, I was looking to get my hair dyed a wacky colour. Popped in to the salon to ask advice and Rick took one look at me and said I'd need a better hair cut if I was going to dye it. Got to admire the honesty! From that point on and for the next 10+ years, Rick handled cutting my hair better than anyone else. I have quite curly and awkward hair (as a guy) and Rick managed to cut it in ways that didn't make me look like a complete idiot. This was something that previous hairdressers had somehow failed to accomplish. Even over the course of 10 years, I never felt that Rick got lazy or complacent when cutting my hair. He'd always be willing to discuss different styles as my hair changed over the years. His prices are reasonable, considering the central london location, and Rick himself is a top bloke. His colleague, a lady called Emma, came to me and offered help--she literally spent the next 2 hours fixing the messy 'layers' that Fabio did to me, and tried her best to make it look neat and back to normal. I am grateful for her effort, but Fabio did such an awful job in the haircut making it impossible to recover. I have been to countless haircut and style in my life. Met various stylists. I am also a master student in London. My advice is, DON'T WORK WITH FABIO. THE WORST STYLIST I MET IN LIFE.
