Spoke to the waiter in Nepali as I don't yet speak German, and it went very well. The sauce wasn't very good, but the Momos were home made, and tasted very authentic in the way that they serve Momos. In the sense they tend to add a dash of curry sauce or curry flavoring in their fillings for both meat and vegetables that give it a unique taste that I have only seen served in Nepal. Nepal Haus was an amazing find in Munich. It seems to be run by one dude. I don't know if he cooks as well. Hopefully, he has a cook in the back. This place looks pretty authentic. Also most Nepalese can speak English, and the dude could speak English quite well, even though he said he hasn't practiced in many years. The place is small. They have maybe a few tables inside and outside. Luckily, it wasn't that busy when we came. I would advise sitting outside. It was super-hot inside. They have a big menu. Everything looked good. I tried their momo or dumplings. It was like your traditional Chinese dumplings, but the fillings had more of an Indian flavor. Nepal uses a lot of spices similar to India. I loved the flavors. It was so different, yet familiar to me. Their Veggie Dal Bhat is your basic vegetarian platter with Dal (lentil soup), potatoes, chickpeas, and other veggie goodness. They all had great flavor from the many spices they used. They also have a bunch of fried noodle dishes, so I tried one. It came with chili sauce, that reminded me of sambal oelek. The noodle were cooked well, and I liked the flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the food. It's a great place to check out if you're near the Ostbahnhof (munich east station) and want to take a break from all the heavy, Bavarian foods. read more

This review is based on service alone. We came here yesterday for for the first time hoping to get dinner. The middle aged man who was seating us was incredibly rude. Instead of seating us at any of the 3 outdoor tables available or at any indoor table (no one was inside), he instead asked a family that was already eating to move and take up 1 table instead of 2 then asked us to sit at the opened table. The table was obviously dirty and we were immediately next to the family that he had asked to move. It was incredibly awkward as the family was glaring at us and we felt horribly uncomfortable. This family also had 2 young children, who were loudly watching a TV show and making a lot of noise. We would have loved to try the food because it looked great but we could not sit through an entire meal inches away from that family so we left. read more

We came in for a late lunch and had a wonderful experience! The food is quite authentic as the owner brings special ingredients back from Nepal. I ordered the veggie Dahl bat set and it was the best I've had outside of Nepal. My hubs had the Momo platter and it was also delicious. The owner and his family run this amazing restaurant and have lived in Munich for 20 years, so you can converse with them in Nepalese, German or English. Hi / Namaste, I just wanted to share a little tip about a new really small Nepalese restaurant that has just opened up in Haidhausen. It is called Nepal-Haus at Weissenburgerstrasse 39 (very close to the DM Markt and the Ostbahnof end of this long street). Although walking past it many times, I didn't notice that it was even there despite being told by the waitress that it had been open already for a few weeks. Not sure if it is just an opening special or not but they currently have a small buffet (all you can eat) with really authentic (yes, I can say that because I have spent time in Nepal) tasty food all for 7.99 EUR including a small drink! The lunch buffet is offered from 1100H -1500H Mon-Fri only with a menu that changes daily according to the waitress. I have since been there 3 times now and each visit has been worthwhile and available seats harder to find between 1200H - 1300H. On one occasion, there was a vegetable/lentil soup, potato curry, mixed vegetable dish, grilled chicken and basmati rice with some condiments and salad on the side table. Please don't ask me the names of the dishes though! They also have a small a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. I look forward to returning to try the momo's one day. However, the small lunch buffet is hard to beat for value and quality. Take away is also available, The food on the buffet disappears onto people's plates rather quickly so the kitchen needs to work hard and fast to keep up with the demand and replenish the buffet fast enough. I was told that they deliberately cook everything fresh so nothing sits too long in the serving trays. The service is low key with a smile. Being open only for a short time, I think they need more time to settle into their new jobs and systems but hopefully they'll have enough staff soon to meet, greet and seat people on arrival. If you are nearby and looking for something fast, a little exotic and delicious tasting in a low key environment and at a very reasonable price, it is worth dropping by. It's a nice alternative to having a doner kebab or pizza for lunch ! read more
