She never did. In September I tried again at the urging of my boyfriend; when I called from my phone I went straight to VM but if I called from my boyfriend's phone she'd answer. She said she'd take a look at my paperwork, to drop it off and give her 2-3 days. Ten days later I called and asked if she'd gotten a chance to look at it, she hadn't, she said to call her first thing the next morning. I called at 11am the next day, she still hadn't taken a look. It's not even tax season and she couldn't get to me! I asked if I could pick it up later that day (to take to someone else), she said yes; when I got there my sensitive tax info was sitting on the front desk, unattended. No one came out to greet me. I took my paperwork and left. She never gave a single apology for wasting so much of my time. This business lacks common courtesy, and judging by how I was treated in September there's no way I'd ever take anything here during the busyness of tax season.

So, why is it when I ask questions that they do not have the answer to, I get billed in excess of $200.00 an hour for them to research? -Becuase they look out for your best interests, right? Not here. On my taxes they were making assumtions that were incorrect, and then bill me to explain what the heck happened. - Because they are fair, right? Yes, you guessed it, not here! I asked a question about including some donations made...and got billed over $500 for them to do research...and this is on a $200 donation, that would have maybe saved me $20 in taxes. So, I end up getting all my tax returns amended and pay to get it done. The new accountant did it in record time and charged nothing in comparison to this CPA firm. I could go on and on....but all you really need to know is you should not go here. P.S. Get this, they charged me to look for my phone number that they lost.

We gathered all of our business and our personal tax papers and made an appointment. We took a chance and gave full control over to ABC and they are fantastic !!! One of the very best business and personal decisions we had ever made. We found out (the hard way), that the tax software we, (and others) purchased and used would get all of the legal and ethical write-offs that we were entitled to, but no, we were surprised to find out that ABC Bookkeeping and Tax Service found out that we were not getting everything back that we legally and ethically deserved. I was very very skeptical at the time, I couldn't believe that they could do better than the computerized tax program we had used, but we were assured that everything, both our business and personal taxes were done correctly and they again told us that they stand firmly behind all of their work. Skeptical as I am, I spent slot of time double checking and found ( to my surprise and amazement) that they had been able to get all of the legitimate tax write-offs that we were legally and ethically entitled to, plus more that had been missed previously. We didn't mind paying our taxes, everyone of us has a duty and obligation to do that, we feel we are helping provide for others until they can provide for themselves, or if they can no longer provide for themselves, we want to help them just as they too had helped others by paying theirs. That said, we don't want to pay more than what the law says we need to pay, and we had found out that we had been doing just that. We decided to retire the business this year, but if we stayed in business, we would continue our relationship with ABC, they have been absolutely amazing these past almost 10 years. He launched into a long lecture about how the process "isn't simple," emphasized how much time (8-9 hrs. of meeting - ooh! wow!) and reading we would have to put into the process; we probably wouldn't like his rates and spoke in a way that felt dismissive and condescending - as if I was clueless about the estate planning process or had never worked with attorneys before. I never asked for a simple process; I simply described our estate. My husband and I are already familiar with the steps involved. I tried to redirect the conversation, because he had already clearly dismissed the call by saying, "Let me share more information," but based on the communication so far, I added that it might not be a good fit. Even then, he didn't ask what our actual needs were, and I never even got the chance to explain that we needed a professional trustee or fiduciary. The call ended without any meaningful discussion of services or options. I was shocked and disappointed, especially since he had been recommended by close friends. I left the call feeling talked down to rather than helped. We were genuinely trying to understand whether this firm could support us, but the interaction made it clear this wasn't the right place for respectful, client‑focused communication. He may not have been the right fit for our needs, but the call was handled in a way that felt dismissive and premature, especially since he didn't have enough information about our situation to make that judgment. His loss; we'll be moving on to someone better. Less money in his pocket to go buy a high-end suit! Here's how it happened: The initial meeting seemed scattered, as the accountant jotted down notes haphazardly on a yellow legal pad. Maybe he's just old school? Nope -- when I got a call that my return was ready, I immediately noticed that our moving expenses were not deducted. I then took the return home and found several BASIC errors such as: 1. Failure to claim a credit for taxes paid to another state (raising our tax bill by $600) 2. Declaring business property based on the pre-1987 codes AND misrepresenting the value ($100) 3. Failure to deduct business expenses ($50) 4. Failure to deduct moving expenses ($350) Needless to say, I informed them of their errors and they said they could fix them but would still charge me the regular price for preparing the return. Nope, I'll do it myself since L Burdick seems to employ incompetent workers. I wonder how many thousands of dollars L Burdick has cost Eugenians over the years.
