We had a photo session in the garden at the studio. It was such a great setting and the weather was perfect by not having direct sun. The garden is huge and so well decorated, it's perfect for either small groups or the complete wedding entourage. It is entirely laden with flowers, manicured shrubs, mature trees and all sorts of great garden accents, a perfect setting. Catherine is a talented artist. She suggested some creative poses for the pictures that will look fantastic. Much better than the classic indoor family poses. Worst experience imaginable for such a simple job: a passport picture. So I got there with my wife whom needed the picture and the owner, I assume, goes on like this: "Do I have to take your picture too?" and I explain that I didn't need one, so he goes like "Oh... good!" so I ask why that was good and he said "She is much prettier than you", to what I reply "I thought you would appreciate the business" and he goes "money isn't everything in life!". At this point, I was thinking, great, since you're not in this for the money, you will not charge anything to take a photo of my beautiful wife, right? But I held myself back. As my wife was removing her coat, he tells her to remove her beanie too (which she was just about to do) and makes the following observation to me: "You need it more than she does!" (I have a shaved head) so I tell him that I got used to the weather and he corrects me "Nobody ever gets used to this weather" so I stand correct not to send him to hell. My wife sits down for the picture and he goes "Relax... it's just a camera..." in an **extremely patronizing tone*. Now, get this: My wife, who now is a gorgeous cougar at 40 years of age, used to be a catwalk and editorial model in Brazil in her early years, she has taken tenths of thousands of pictures and took part in several marketing campaigns, fashion shows, promotional videos, etc and here is this old presumptuous little man explaining to her that "that" was just a camera. Since my wife has good posture and was sitting upright, he goes again "you don't need to be afraid... relax..." and offers the following gem: "is he making you nervous?" while pointing at me. She says "no!", kind of embarrassed for him and I tell him in a tone of someone who is about to loose one's temper that after 19 years of marriage, I shouldn't make her nervous anymore. So he shut his mouth for once and did his job. After a while, he said it was done and I gave him a 20 dollar bill. He was supposed to hand me back the change but instead, he put something like 3 or 4 $0.05 coins in my hand, turned around and gave the rest to my wife. What an a$$hole! I turned around to leave the place before I lost it and almost did not take the the damn pictures with me. And guess what? I took my passport picture at Walmart and it was actually better than the one from this so called professional photographer. There you go! What a sad experience! read more
