Mediterranean Wholesalers is your one-stop shop for your fancy pants, post-holiday showing off dinner. A few things to note: 1. It is enormous 2. 90 per cent of the goodies are canned - tomatoes, olives, sauce etc. Which is quite funny on mass. 3. FRESH PASTA (needs to be capitalised) 4. FRESH CHEESE (also needs to be capitalised) 5. Heaps of European wines and beers are also stocked. 6. Please don't annoy everyone too much with your smugness and holiday snaps.

Sometimes I feel the full brunt of my lucky life more than other times, and right now, I'm feeling full of love and gratitude for the Mediterranean Wholesalers. Having said that, this place also makes me feel guilty that my wonderful big brother bought me a pasta maker for Christmas (because he overheard me saying how much I wanted one - damn those Masterchef dudes) and that I haven't used it yet, not even once. I can't blame the Med Wholesalers for my slackness, but if you pop in and see for yourself the incredible variety of pasta lining their many shelves, it might go to explaining why I haven't felt the need to whip out the pasta maker. I mean, these guys are my pasta maker! There are also tonnes of great Italian cheeses, breads and other Italian condiments that when combined just so, will lead to full and happy bellies.

We've recently begun doing all of our fruit & veg shopping here. It's a little bit further to drive…read morethan we normally would but the variety here is well worth it. Conveniently located right next to an entrance to the new section of Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, the Market spills out from inside of the store with barrels of all sorts of wonderful oddities. There's stuff I've never heard of before here, let alone ever seen. There is a lot of Asian fruit & veg varieties, but plenty of other stuff too. I couldn't find okra anywhere else around home the other day, so I headed straight here and right at the entrance stood a huge pile of it. There are probably close to a dozen kinds of potato here, they've got herbs, chillies bigger than I even knew existed and pretty much anything else you could want. We've only ever not been able to find one thing here that we needed! There is a small grocery section at the back of the store that I've yet to fully explore but it looks like it has a nice variety of sauces and assorted goodies. Littered around the store you'll also find nuts, dried fruits and spices that seem reasonably priced, as does the whole store in general. Actually paying for your purchases can be a bit nuts here sometimes. There are ten or so registers at the front of the store, but the layout of them means that there are only three lines to get to them and they sprawl out amongst the aisles of the store when it's busy (which it seems to be all the time). As the store is fairly new the cashiers don't always know the prices of everything, but with them all working so closely together they usually find out quicksmart. With a few good little cafes & restaurants located in the same area, as well as a huge butchers, fish shop, bakeries and on certain days, a little indoor Farmer's Market and much more, this is a great place to head to pick up your groceries.

Some items i've seen here i have not seen anywhere else! they have jackfruits, taro, sugar cane, dragonfruit, and tonnes of asian veg i can't even remember. It gets pretty busy but they have a lot of staff on who are quick at getting you through. They take eftpos as well which is great!
