I have quite a few options where I live and have been going to Brilotti cleaner on Laurier for…read moreyears. They do an impeccable job but are slightly pricier than nearby options. I came across this cleaner through their partners on Parc Ave. They don't do as good a job but seemed worth the price. I had been bringing in clothes for the last few months until a recent incident. I brought in a white linen shirt and when I came to pick it up there was a red stain on the pocket. Right away they were on the defensive when I asked what happened. They said you had a pen in your pocket or something in there, and that this never happens... Pretty ridiculous considering if you have a stain you show the cleaner and ask if they can remove it, and you'd see something in a white linen shirt pocket (not that I ever use that pocket anyway). The owner of the shop on Parc said it's out of her hands she needs to speak with the cleaner for a solution. I waited 2 weeks which is ridiculous finally for her to say they could not get the stain out. She gave me the contact of "Maikl" who runs this cleaner. I called him and he was rude. His solution was to bring it back in to try to bleach it. It's been over 3 weeks and no real solution. At this point my best option is to bring it to another cleaner. At the least you'd expect the owner to be polite and understanding... but he was rude and unprofessional. That's what you're dealing with if you go to this place. I realize it's worth paying the premium a good place like Brilloti charges. Too bad they had to ruin a nice shirt for me to realize this. My girlfriend also brought her winter jacket to this place and they charged a ridiculous amount and did a terrible job. Definitely avoid the place on Park. They ship it out and it's always super slow getting your clothes and then you get a run-around answer if something happens. Average quality with no customer service. I can post pics of the shirt, really disappointing experience.

So this was a refreshing surprise. It was recommended to me by the Guess/ Marciano downtown. So you know that they can do nice dresses, competently. So when I recently found a brand new, unused Aquascutum navy blue trench coat at my local Frip-prix, I knew who I had to look for. These coats usually go for $2000 retail at places like Holt Renfrew or Ogilvy's and while the coat was way too big for me, I just couldn't let such a rare find get away. I came to Natale Tailleur and the elderly Milanese gentleman here did his magic. He altered the coat to fit me without once compromising on the integrity of the quality of the coat. You could tell his workmanship was Old School Milan. He charged me $50 total. Coat Retail:$2000 Coat cost at Frip-Prix $35 Coat Alterations:$50 Total savings for a high-end luxury overcoat: $1915

A pair of pants I asked to have taken in at the waist and legs came back with one leg too tight and the other even tighter. There was a difference of almost 3/4 of an inch in the taper. I insisted they be fixed, and the second attempt wasn't much better. I also brought a vintage coat from the 30s to find out if it was worth modernizing. The tailor assured me the fabric was hugely expensive wool. I told him I'd want to get the coat cleaned first to make sure it would look good, and he told me not to worry; he was going to take care of everything. When I asked if he was sure, he told me "Please, I'm here 30 years..." Well, when I got the coat back, looked like it had been sewn by a student, and it was just as unclean as it had been when I dropped it off. I brought it to a dry cleaner and the stains, as I suspected, could not be lifted. Also, the coat wasn't wool. The shop needs more craftsmanship and less con. I wouldn't go back there to hem a pair of Levi's, let alone trust them with anything of value.
