And for Christmas time, even better. It's right in the middle, between two different christmas market. For sure you won't get bored here. I was here with my partner and friends for christmat market at the weekend. And we were staying in the really nice rooms. The room that we were staying was really big. It even got the small room just for the luggages and cloths. The view from our vindow was quite nice as well. The TV was a bit hidden. It took some seconds to find it. But the room did make me feel really comfortable. The breakfast of the hotel was really great, it offered quite a lot different food to choose from. The design of the place it really gave me warm feeling at the same time really classy. The chistmas decorations were all around the place, really nice atmosphere in the air. I didn't find that one point a bit inconvenient, it really took a while to get back to our room. Basically, I had to walk around the whole place to get there. And even they offered free internet, which was great, but it was really slow. But at the end of the day, I think, I could oversee that on my review. We all had a great time and enjoyed our staying at this hotel very much. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I am glad that we were able to stay here in the hot holiday timing. Brilliant!

The hotel was about a ten minute walk from the train station and it's pretty much a straight shot. It would be pretty hard to get lost or not find it. The staff was really nice and gracious. The rooms were good sized, modern and clean. The bed were a bit small. I would say twin sized, not queen. There was a shower, not a tub. There was a bar located outside our window and it was really loud. There was music and people shouting, but maybe that is the price you pay for being in the center of everything. The line for breakfast in the morning was insane, if you show up after eight prepare yourself not to find a table in the main dining room, we had to eat in the bar area. For breakfast there was a choice of boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, meat, cheese and bread. Lastly, this hotel was a bit pricey for a holiday inn express. I think it was because we booked at Christmas time, I'm not sure! It was over five hundred dollars for two nights.

We came into contact with two of the Housekeeping staff and they were very friendly. However; the check-in clerk was very unfriendly initially, which really infuriated me - but eventually she thawed and became much more pleasant. The other front desk staff were pleasant. A buffet breakfast is included in the price, although it was very mediocre and the selection was quite limited. However, the coffee was very good. The reason why I'm only giving three stars (instead of four) is because the internet connection was PATHETIC (as mentioned by the previous reviewer, but at least there's no longer a charge). Truthfully, the hotel should *pay* people to use the internet. In this era - and when a large hotel in a major chain is located in the center of a city - there's no excuse whatsoever for such pathetic internet service.

I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival with the quality and value for the price. It's by no means a luxury or fancy hotel, but in terms of budget hotels it's one of the best I have been to. There are a lot of little extras provided here that make it a great value and pleasant place to stay when visiting Dresden. There is a very large lobby area with stylish tables and seating, and the check in desk doubles as a bar. At the check in area one can order alcoholic beverages and snacks. The prices are reasonable. Many patrons take advantage of this service, and as a result the lobby area is lively. In the same lobby area they have their breakfast buffet. The quality of the offerings in the buffet are extensive, and it is well worth the extra 9.50 Euro charge. The room was larger than many single rooms you find in Germany. The hotel itself is a fully modern building, and they have card keys for the rooms and there is no need therefore to turn in your key when you leave There are a few nice details in the building. When you enter your room, there is a slot to place your card key, which turns on all the lights and the TV. There is a switch right next to the bed that also controls all the lights--this is nice, not to have to get out of bed to find the light switch. The televisions show a screen saver image with soft music or sound effects instead of an advertisement before you switch the channel. The bathroom has a few stylish details, such as an external basin and a very large and powerful shower head. The shower is also behinds a glass wall instead of a cheap curtain. The location is very good--it's only about three quarters of a mile from the city center, and it's a very nice walk there across the Elbe. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, either in Dresden or in any of the other cities where they also are located.

The reason I'm giving this hotel a 3 and not 4 or 5 is because they will not guarantee either a non-smoking room, or the type of beds you get (2 singles vs a king). So, having reserved a non-smoking room, we arrived and were given a room that was a smoking room and reeked of smoke. When we went back to the desk, they said that they had no non-smoking 2-bed rooms available and that we could try coming back in a few hours to see if anything opened up. Since we were there around 2 pm, this didn't make sense to us at all. It seemed to us that they should know what rooms were available since check-out had presumably been accomplished 2 hours before. The desk clerk was very nice and finally did accommodate our request, but it seemed for a while until she did so that we might just be out of luck. Also, as mentioned in another review, the free internet isn't really free. Yes, it's free for ONE device for a certain amount of web browsing. My sister used her phone for some web browsing and within a few hours got an error message that she had used up her allocation. We ended up paying the 5 Euros to upgrade to the paid internet. We did not get the breakfast because it was something like 20 Euros.

Uber DOES NOT run in Dresden at all. We took a taxi from the train station here. The taxis are located at the main entrance of the train station. Do not try to exit a side or back area of the train station, there are no taxis there. Arrival: The registration desk is also the bar. The employees checking you in are also working as bartenders. Very odd. We asked if we could have a room upgrade. There were none, we asked if our room had a tub, no tub. We asked could we please have a tub, she said please wait, she made a call and we got a tub. Room 115. The hotel runs warm. Elevator: There is a tiny elevator that says can fit 8, but it would be a tight 8. We have luggage and 2 more joined us on the elevator and it was tight. No keycard is required to go to the rooms, but the keycard is required for the gym. Odd. The elevator is very slow when there are many customers. There is a staircase available, I used it once I realized it was a staircase. The staircase is not heated so it was refreshing to go in the stairwell. Room: It is a large size room with a King bed, really two separate bed combined into 1 and two separate blankets. There are two nightstands, only one nightstand has a USB-C charging port. There is a desk, TV, and a nice chair for sitting. Nice wall wardrobe for storing your clothes. Krups Nespresso coffee machine with pods. There are 4 coffee pods and 2 tea pods available. The mini fridge is packed with stuff for purchase, so it is hard to use. Bathroom: tiny sink area with limited countertop space, but there is two shelves under the sink area to store stuff. There is a heated towel rack mounted on the wall. HOLY TUB! Now that is a tub! It is tub with jets and a light! The tub is huge and you can easily fit 2, but for one is a treat. BUT, the tub I do not think gets much use because after 4x of use, it was still spitting out down chunks of mold I think? Big brown flakes were floating in the water with each use. It was really bad on first use. The water takes forever to fill the tub to get the jets to turn on, takes roughly 7 minutes. And the water temperature fluctuates based on use of others in the hotel. The jets are very strong and rough and does feel nice after a long day of walking. I opened the windows to get a nice cool breeze as I was soaking. Sleep quality: pillows were odd shaped and not too fluffy Andy's bed is hard but the hotel gets quiet at night and sleep was good. TIP: Inside the Gallerie mall there are two grocery stores in the lower level. One is like a Rewe and the other is Go Asia. Great selection of beer, wines, whiskey, bakery, snacks, and typical grocery store. Gym: You can only access from the elevator even though the stairwell says gym, you cannot get to the gym. The door is locked. Enter the elevator, scan your keycard and hit -1. When you exit the elevator, you see the locker room for men and women. Turn left and you enter into the pool area with seating. Looked shallow and kids were enjoying the pool. Directly in front, you will see the gym equipment, tiny area. To the left there is a door, the water station is there and then you will see some showers. To the left to the showers are two doors: dry sauna and wet sauna. The dry sauna was more popular, but i prefer the wet sauna. Both are not very big spaces. 5 could fit sitting only but you will be touching each other. If someone is lying down, maybe 2 could use the wet sauna. I wore my bathrobe down from the room. All guests using the gym walked around in the public areas wearing their bathrobes, so I did the same. The wet sauna was hot at all. I added some water and the wet sauna started to heat up. It took 3 rounds of heating up for the room to get hot enough for me to sweat. It was a nice treat to enjoy the wet sauna.

Check in: Efficient check in process. Asked for an upgrade based on Marriott status and was told that no junior suites were available. Asked for a room with a bathtub and received one. Room 115: Very nice room with a large bathroom including a large jacuzzi tub. Room had everything one would expect from a quality hotel: Nespresso coffee maker, glasses, mini-refrigerator with stuff for sale (but enough room to keep a personal item or two in it), Samsung TV, etc. Bed: Kingsized bed made from two twins. Firm mattress. Decent linens. Bathroom: Fantastic bathroom with huge jacuzzi tub, heated towel rack, and plenty of space. Very good hair dryer. The bathroom has two downsides: (1) lack of counter space and (2) mildew or mold in the fancy jacuzzi tub. We anticipated some possible cleanliness issues with the tub and filled the tub with super hot water and cycled through the jacuzzi. It generated a ton of filthy mildew and looked horrible. But the mildew persisted through the next two soaks. It was really disappointing. I wish I had some bleach to clean the tub system out thoroughly! Housekeeping: Good housekeeping Pool: Pool, steam room, and dry saunas in the basement. WiFi: free WiFi Restaurant: See separate review of [M]eatery (pathetic little place) Misc: (1) Overall good location in Dresden. Easy walk to the museums and the opera house; convenient access to trams. With luggage, it's too far to walk from the main train station. As of the end of 2025, Ubers don't operate in Dresden. A taxi to/from the main train station costs about Euro 9. (2) Hotel provides a complimentary bottle of water, but only one bottle per stay (not per day). Points or voucher: If you're a Marriott elite who is given a choice between the Euro 10 voucher and points at the hotel, take the points; otherwise expect to be frustrated by trying to use the voucher at the pathetic little bar and restaurant.
