I know how my body works and my pain is very real and it is a real problem. Was told verbatim and I quote, "your pain is in your head". I couldnt believe a dr would say that to me; when I tried to see someone else in his practice I had to get my therapist to call them and advocate for me because they would not return my calls. They told my therapist I was filing a lawsuit against them and slammed the phone on her, (whom by the way is the kindest sweetest old lady), when I had no such intention. I am on medicaid and dont even have money to do such a thing; nor would I want to as I am not a vindictive person. I went to another practice in New Britain and finally had laporoscopic surgery and was diagnosed with stage four endometriosis. I dont want other women to go through what I went through. I want Drs to know women cannot be treated this way. We are people not pieces of meat and a paycheck and our pain is real and we deserve to have our medical problems taken seriously. I sincerely hope no one else is dismissed in such a way and his practice starts treating women more empathetically and not gas light them into believing they are crazy and their pain is fake or "in their head".

I thought I was on deaths door five years ago (2019). I was passing out at work because of the pain and pressure on my spinal column. I was fortunate enough to get an emergency surgery with Dr. Doherty. He showed me a picture of the bone growth he removed from my neck that was the size of a quarter. He then performed a fusion on my C6-C7. I walked out of the hospital the next morning with no neck brace, no physical therapy, and no pain or narcotic medicine needed. If I did not have sleep apnea, he was going to send me home the same day as the surgery. Five years later, 2024, I had my C5-C6 fused. This surgery was more difficult because of the scar tissue which has made my recovery longer. Dr. Doherty is the best there is and I would never go to another surgeon for neck issues. His communication with his patients is amazing and it is in a timely manner. I have to clarify; it was Dr. Doherty got back to me not anyone else. I have never had that commitment and dedication from a doctor, especially a surgeon of his caliber.

After cortisone shots and an eventual MRI, I was told that I do not have a tear or anything else that can be fixed with surgery, and given a prescription for physical therapy. I was not happy about this at all - I wanted a quick fix to be pain free and thought (naively) that surgery was the answer. I live close to Spectrum, so based on physical proximity (and the recommendation of a friend) I made an appointment with Corey. Long story short, I am in 95% less pain, sleep all night through again, and have far more range of motion than I did a few months ago. Therapy is as much fun as working hard can be, but we DO laugh (often) and I AM so much better than I was. The facility is clean, well-lit, and the bathroom is clean, too. Corey seem to have all the requisite tools, AND the necessary expertise. He is not just competent and trained in his field, he is so contagiously passionate about health and fitness!
