I have no problems with the CHP or any sheriff/police department as I am American and love my…read morecountry. Although, I recently received a ticket for "speeding" a few weeks ago by CHP officer Steven Strobel in Truckee, California. Strobel was hands down the worst officer I have ever dealt with. I have no idea if he was having a bad day, but he WRONGFULLY towed my car in the middle of nowhere due to the fact that "he didn't have enough time." I was on my way to a convention in Tahoe/Reno for the weekend and my car was being worked on, so I had to borrow my Father's Lexus. Since it's not my car, I didn't have the insurance or new registration or any information on the car for that matter, as my Dad keeps all of his info on his phone. When I was pulled over, he instantly took my keys and explained the issue. I told him the scenario and he kept rushing me to get information needed( which I understand) and I was making numerous phone calls to receive that information. My father wasn't answering and Strobel was getting super impatient with me. He started getting irritated and repeatedly called me a liar and intending I lied about registration and insurance. He told me to get out of my car with all my luggage as my car was being towed and I can pick it up. I told him I was four hours away from home and he told me to take a train. I was in the middle of nowhere and was left stranded. Because of that I had to buy $100 uber to the nearest civilization, and buy a hotel to wait 2 days to get my car out on monday morning for a whopping $800!! This situation was completely unfair and unlawful. I will be pursuing this case deeper. Also, after research I learned that this officer is from southern california. Keep the Left out of the CHP. Strobel is a joke.

Update: About a week ago a pedestrian setting up reflective…read moresafety triangles at the scene of an accident was run over and killed by a Truckee CHP. This is very unfortunate. I don't blame the officer involved as this event is likely the result of an office who's leadership is unwilling to accept that their officers may not be perfect and address minor safety and other issues before someone ends up dead. From 2012: I recently tried to ask a Sergeant Andy Mayo at the Truckee CHP about a parking ticket that I received. It was an interesting ticket because it was for two things: not having updated tags, and being parked in a no parking zone, neither of which appeared to be violated in any way (a passing by Placer County Sheriff looked at the ticket and also could not figure out why we were ticketed). However, I know that officers are human (and make mistakes), so I wanted to talk to somebody at the office about the incident. This is where it all went downhill. I could not have a reasonable conversation with Sergeant Mayo. He refused to explain to me anything about the ticket, he refused to look at the car which clearly had updated tags, and he refused to look at the many pictures that I had taken showing that the vehicle was in fact not parked in a no parking zone. The only thing that this Sergeant would say was that he refused to question the integrity of his officer, and accused me of being drunk (I was not). I was treated like a piece of trash. Mayo also told me I couldn't record our conversation (when I was getting a bit frustrated). I was later told by another officer in the department that I should be allowed to record as I was on public property. This whole situation bothers me because I see law enforcement as agencies which are supposed to "protect and serve", and it seems as though Sergeant Mayo has a vastly different view on what "protecting and serving" entails. I don't mind getting a ticket, I do deserve to be treated with respect. I want to have faith in our law enforcement in California, but when officers like Mayo are in leadership roles it is hard keep faith.

When I arrived, desk clerk says grace period is 5 minutes!! They have window signage and conflicting email information about waiting at curb vs going into office. This public resource is not community oriented or aware of what is baseline accountability for customer service

There was an officer Alfonso evaluated the minor accident. Officer Alfonso, first spoke to the driver that hit me, then he spoke to me. Officer Alfanso asked me what happen! Then I told him. The officer in question demeanor changed towards me. In the middle of our conversation, the CHP officer walked away. I called International Affairs, then that Department referred me to an officer Sargent Tweet, I explained to Sargent Tweet my issue. Sargent Tweet spoke to Officer Alfanso. Discrimination towards me. During the accident I asked the other party for active insurance card. He could not provide an active insurance card. When I spoke to Sargent Tweet about not having an active insurance card, if they are cited on the spot? Sargent Tweet said that it would be up to the present CHP officer. I then called the DMV and asked if it is against the law not having an active insurance card? DMV said under California law, it is against the law. How corrupt can the Rancho Cordova, CHP be? Be aware of this office. Don't let them push you around. If perhaps you have an issue contact Internal Affairs, CHP. Also put your phone on record when speaking to them. What an awful experience.

I assumed this place was going to be the same, but it wasn't. My husband's cousin received a ticket on the freeway because he was speeding at 85. The officer said it was a 65 freeway. They took his car away since he didnt have a driver's license. He asked me and my friend to help take out his car. When he called this office an officer told him that he need two licensed drivers to take it out. When we went the officer ignored us at first. I'm pretty sure they do this because they think that everyone that walks in there is probably someone that broke the law. The officer stared at us and told us he would be with us in a minute after standing in front of the window for awhile. There was someone sitting at the waiting area, but we honestly don't know how long he was there. When the officer finally attended us he asked my husband's cousin if he was the one that called earlier about taking out his car. He said yes and then asked us for our driver licenses. We gave it to him but he didn't even stare at us. When my husband's cousin started talking to him very nicely the officer started being friendly. It wasn't too bad. He gave us directions on where his car was. It is a highway patrol office and obviously I didn't expect it to be a 5 star experience haha.

Unreal situation! I am stunned! Words to the wise out there, no PD are truthful or admirable any longer. They are ALL incompetent, corrupted by the militarization of police. Such a complete disgrace. I used to support the pd no more, not ever again. They ALL LIE! This clown, threatened to arrest me if I did not provide my DL immediately! He was aggressive, nasty and cruel! Wth! He lied and said the black mercedes was behind me, no he was not, I had a witness in the car, he was going around 110 in the hov lane, I was in the middle by that time, I cannot believe this officer lied under oath signing a document, dont you ever trust police people! This is why there is a defund movement for a reason! These idiots go after anyone including good drivers with a perfect driving record just to meet their quota! Why would any county or city fund a department that unlawfully writes tickets on purpose to anyone they choose to? These people are out to destroy society, dont you believe they are doing good in society, this is why they collaborate with neighbors, nextdoor and facebook & media to create fake stories and glorify themselves, We do NOT need police, they lie about everything. Read up on all the lawsuits against pd online across this country & state on youtube etc. The stories are everywhere, lawyers are constantly inundated with lawsuits against police injustice! Speak up people & defend your rights because these jerks are trying to take away anyone's rights, even of speech! This officer tried to shut me down until I told him I was recording him & I have a witness who interjected in the car that saw the entire situation happen & he asked the same thing, why did this officer let the mercedes go driving more than 110mph & literally flew by us in the car, The officer admitted he saw the black mercedes drive past me which indicates he did not catch him so he came after me instead. Turn on your devices and record every conversation and contact doj to remove camera coverage, because everything is a setup these days to destroy the public! www.targetedjustice.com I will never ever have ANY respect for any pd ever again, you are all a complete travesty & disgrace!
