wanted to update my review. One disappointment is that the free EV charging that used to be…read moreavailable here has petered out and has been broken for months now. There's a sign on it that says out of order. But on the upside I just learned about this 3d printer I couldn't be more thrilled. Yes the library now has a 3-D print lab. They only allow 1/mo and it must be something that was successfully printed from thingverse or similar site. in other words you probably can't just design your own without uploading it to one of those sites first and getting others to successfully printed to show that it's not a disaster and then it is a successful design not that they only offer PLA (Polylactic Acid). It is the standard for library printers because it's easy to use and doesn't give off toxic fumes, it can warp if left in the direct summer sun or high heat though so if you're printing something for use outdoors you may need to spray on a protectant of some sort.

They also have cords you can use their for free cell phone charging while at the library. They even have a great bulletin board of all the activities happening in the community. I am not a Truckee resident and did not have any issues connecting to the internet which was speedy and free. The library is decently sized and has all the usual library stuff, including fiction and non-fiction, reference and periodicals. There are computers available to be used though I'm not sure if those are for residents only. I'm not suggesting that there's an exposed power outlet on the back wall of the library but if someone was looking to discretely charge up their RV's onboard battery while using the wifi of the library, they might be interested to know that. Not only is it a great place for students to come for a quiet place to study, it is also perfect for anyone looking to use the computers or have a quiet space to work or read. They have free wifi, printing and copying that are only 10 cents a page. They also have fantastic rooms in the back where you can study with a group, or if you just want a private space to be alone and quiet to concentrate. These rooms are such a plus! Where else can you go to use free wifi, but also have a private area all to yourself? In these economic times, money is scarce, renting movies can be $3-$5! But at the library, you can rent three movies at once for FREE! Not to mention, their late fees for books are very low so if you forget to return a book for a few days you wont be paying big bucks. Check it out! As a lover of books and quiet places, I highly recommend.

The Governor's Mansion complex includes the home and an adjacent (and nicely appointed) Reception Building, where this event took place. The impressive 2-story Governor's mansion itself is within a residential neighborhood of Carson City, and apparently is a stop along the Kit Carson Trail. The Governor's Mansion is also known to be one of the most haunted places in Nevada.

A monument to pioneer families [Truckee CA]…read more A short walk on the paved trail from the visitor center led us to the pioneer monument. The monument stands on the spot where the Schallenberger, and later the Breen, cabin once stood. Dedicated and honoring all the emigrants (not just the Donner Party) who followed the Truckee River and crossed the Sierra on their way to the west (California). The emigrant family sits on top of a 22-foot pedestal and is facing westward toward Donner Pass. Completed on June 6th 1918 and marked California Historical Landmark #134. There are educational interpretive signs nearby worth the read. Interesting to see this monument standing at one of the most historic sites in emigrant history. During the winter of 1846-1847 we learned that nearly half of Donner Party died from cold and lack of food. They set up camp around this area and was trapped by snow during their journey, imagine trekking in prairie wagons pulled by oxen from Illinois. So sad for those who perished just because of this unfortunate decision they took as a shortcut... ahhh! so close yet so far. Review #3557
