You don't want to cheap out on your feet, especially if you're a runner. This New Balance is literally right around the corner from me, so it couldn't be more convenient. It's also a great spot because they run workshops for runners (I have yet to do one....but they're THERE and I WILL in the NEW YEAR). Also, I have yet to go in there and not be greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable staff member. Two big toes up for that! read more

Another year and more continued disappointment with the New Balance Store in Bloor West Village. They simply don't want to help seniors. They have terrible service. No one in the store and they look surprised when you come and ask for help. They said there is only one possible pair of shoes for you. I didn't like it - oh well. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because they sell shoes if you can buy them you likely will enjoy. I am not able to go to another location sadly. Why would a store continue to have such terrible customer service. read more

I would like to point out that this star rating is based only on one particular experience and will hopefully bring the store manager's attention to the incompetence of the staff working at this particular time. My boyfriend and I walked in with the expectation we could get some help and expertise on selecting an adequate shoe with zero drop. He had been experiencing problems with previous injuries that were getting aggravated when running and we wanted to explore different shoes to alleviate this problem. Essentially, we wanted to work with a store associate and buy a pair of shoes that day. As someone who works in sales, I was severely disappointed by the lack of basic sales competencies from everyone working in that store. To avoid being too long-winded, I will break this up into points: 1. We were not greeted by any of the 3 employees working there as we walked in. We walked by each staff member and only 2 were helping other customers at the time. 2. We stood by the wall of shoes analyzing ones that caught our interest and not a single staff member asked us if we needed any help. The one female blonde staff member was helping another person but actually sat down, facing us looking at the shoes, and did nothing while waiting for the customer to try on his shoes. I would have saw that as an opportunity just to even let us know that she would be with us in a minute, but instead, sat down to what looked like to me as spacing out. 3. We continued to stand there for another 10 minutes, seriously analyzing each shoe and making it quite obvious that we had a few questions about these shoes. At this point, you are probably asking, "Why didn't you just hunt a sales person down and ask them?" It is THEIR job to ask us if we need any help. If we don't want it, we'll say, "Just looking thanks, but I'll let you know." Simple: An exchange in words to express exactly our purpose of being there. 4. We even looked around hoping that a staff member would be attentive enough to notice that we had further questions. There were a brunette girl working at the cash register who was not helping anyone at the time as she just finished her transaction and proceeded to help an older woman who had walked in 5 - 10 minutes after we did. On top of which, the third male staff member walked past us for easily the fifth time and helped the brunette staff member at the cash for what looks like the purchase of easily the smallest/cheapest item you could have bought at that store (their strength is clearly prioritizing the large sales). To give a little background on us, we work out 4- 6 times a week and have a very healthy and active lifestyle (cross-training, running, etc). We went there with the intention of improving our lifestyle even moreso through education and equipment upgrades and it was very disheartening to see such a hypocrisy to New Balance's company culture for people who would stand/sit around and not impart their running shoe expertise on people who actually wanted to learn more. We went in there in our gym clothes so I suspect it's also possible they thought we were just too poor to afford their shoes. Between us, the larger gentleman, and the older woman wearing a skirt, I would think the people ready to run/workout would be most likely to purchase running shoes. Maybe it's just me but I assume people working in a fitness store would catch on to that (could prove to be a good sales tip too). Whatever their reason was (pretentiousness or flat out laziness), I would like to thank everyone working there on Saturday November 2, 2013 at 12:30 PM for being absolutely no help to me at all, wasting my time, and being hideously insulting through your ignorance/inattentiveness. It's a shame too because I've had positive experiences there many years ago (oddly enough, when I knew almost nothing about fitness or running at the time, and probably looked the part too). I can't say that I would never go back there but they definitely lost a direct sale today. What I can say is that I might walk in and just walk right out if I see the same people working there (maybe even tell them about my piss poor experience with them too) - I'm willing to give the other employees a chance. To finish this review, I would like to give a small sales tip: It doesn't cost you ANYTHING to ask if a person needs help. I know it comes with so many other consequences after the fact (the time sucker who doesn't buy anything, or the guy who had a really bad day and just wants to take it out on the next poor unsuspecting sales associate) but you get paid to put up with those potential consequences for a few hours, just like the rest of the world. So PLEASE ask people if they need help, it may just land you a good $200 sale and avoid getting you a scathing Yelp review. read more

You can get New Balance shoes in a lot of stores, but the selection at their own store is better, as you'd probably expect. As someone in the upper size range, that's especially important to me. I picked up a new pair of hiker/walker style shoes here, after completely wearing out my old New Balance shoes (it took many, many miles). Lately, their styles tend more toward flashy cross-trainers (not my favourite), so it came down to only two pairs that fit the look I was going for. The sales guy was helpful without being obtrusive, and after a lot of back-and-forth, I made my choice. They haven't fallen apart on me yet. read more

New Balance - Shoe Stores Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I have worn the New Balance walking shoe for years. Mainly, I shopped in Oakville, but as we moved I now go to the Bloor West store. Last month, I bought a new pair of walking shoe and a pair of Nikes. Last week, I started wearing the new walking shoe, but discovered I could barely do up the laces, as they were too short. As I have narrow feet, this seemed incomprehensible. This morning, I went in and expected a replacement pair. I did get them, but was charged for them. I was expected to buy new laces for brand new shoes. Although the cost was not prohibitive, this is an example of poor customer service. Guess I will be checking out the Running Room for my next purchase. read more

Terrible customer service. The retail staff was extremely rude. Would only look up the size of 2 styles at a time while I stood there waiting like an idiot. Didnt even attempt to be apologetic that they had no stock during their sale. I walked right out the door. I live in the area, but I'll be looking elsewhere for my kicks. read more

I went there to buy a pair of causal sporty shoes with my little guy. While the store was not super busy there were enough customers there. It took no time for one sales staff to approach me to help. When she directed me to the classic section to check out some styles another sales staff came to help me. I found they were all very friendly, helpful and even tried to engage my little guy so he was not totally bored. Overall a very positive customer experience! read more

Signed up for the SportingLife10K and received a printed coupon which states I can get 20% on Footwear or Apparel. This store refused to full fill the agreement for Apparel items and it can only be applied to their expensive footwear shoes. I say no since I didn't need any footwear items at the time. But honestly, new balance needs get their act together with the communication of these promotions and fulfilment agreements with their stores. read more

I've had mostly 'not bad' experiences at this store over the years, however my most recent experience yields a one-star - as in WON'T GO BACK AGAIN! For the 2nd time in as many years, my daughter's running shoes started to fall apart within months of buying them. As you know New Balance shoes aren't the cheapest, but we paid more to get better footwear. I brought the shoes back to the store to see if anything could be done about them (by the time I returned them they were just over 10 months old, but looked much older). I explained the story to the sales associate, who asked that I wait to speak with the manager. When the manager finally spoke with me, he looked at me with ridicule, saying that they (New Balance) don't expect a pair of kids shoes to last longer than 10 months! I explained that we paid more for NB shoes with the expectation that a quality shoe should last longer. He continued to be curt and dismissive. So I walked out disgusted. I will not go to NB again, and subsequently bought my own new pair of SAUCONY running shoes from the Running Room experts. read more

Went into the store looking to buy a pair of Cross-Trainers. I was surprised at the attention provided by the sales staff and their willingness to help pick out the perfect shoe. They were not pushy at all and had no hesitation brining in sizes from other stores (next day). Would highly recommend and will be buying again in the future. read more
