I really wanted to LOVE this place. It has everything that I was accustomed to in South Florida. I recently relocated to North Louisiana. I have been receiving Brazilian waxes for over 10 years and although one may find an experienced esthetician/waxer on every other corner in South Florida, unfortunately it's like finding a needle in a haystack in Ruston. So this place has the advantage offering this service. I called around 11am one day and did not receive an answer. I called again another day. No answer but this time I left a voicemail. A week passed and my call was never returned. I called a third time and FINALLY reached someone and scheduled my Brazilian. Upon arrival, I approached the desk. I am familiar with spa settings so I expected an offer of water or tea while I waited. Didn't happen. I was then escorted to the room for my service. The table was comfy and the room was a good temperature. Emery (my apologies if misspelled) was my esthetician and is an extremely pleasant lady. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. She uses a combination of strip and hard wax. I've had waxings done by Brazilians and they also used a strip wax. I prefer a hard wax for my procedure, but hey! I'm used to a wax taking about 15 minutes, this was a tad longer at 25 minutes. I am also used to the associate using tweezers to get any stray hairs. She asked me if I got my backside done :-) Heck yes! A Brazilian means take it all off!! I've never had that question but maybe women in this area are more modest/conservative. My appointment was over and I went to pay and was told the price was $85! Oh my! No tweezing and $85?! I paid. I tipped and left. I arrived home to check the work and I was not pleased. There were an unsatisfactory number of stray hairs on the labia and other areas. I'm not used to this especially for $85! I expect to have been dry brushed, clean as a whistle and then wiped with a calming solution for $85. As stated, I've been doing this for over 10 years, so I know what to expect at various price points. I will not return. Front office service was poor (phone calls unanswered and no return call). Personality of the esthetician was great! Quality of the service does not warrant the price tag even if it is a medspa. Looks like I will need to travel to neighboring cities for this service. I saw Lucy Douglas upon the recommendation of a friend who had seen her with good results. I was not so fortunate. Lucy ran a multitude of lab work on me and prescribed me a hormone capsule and added an additional prescription for my thyroid [I was currently taking Synthroid]. I was scheduled for a follow-up with her in about a month but within about 2 weeks, I was feeling so ill that I could barely make it to work. I had chronic diarrhea, lethargy, body aches, and weight loss. I called Lucy's office and explained my symptoms and was told to "just keep taking the medications." I requested an appointment but there was "nothing available" until my follow up [which was still a few weeks away]. By the 3rd week, I went to see my regular nurse practitioner and brought along a copy of the lab work which Lucy had reviewed when she prescribed the medications. I was advised to stop taking the additional thyroid prescription prescribed by Lucy as they could not see where my labs indicated that I needed it at all. I stopped taking the medication immediately but a few days later was still feeling terrible so I went to an urgent care clinic where I saw a physician. At the urgent care clinic, I also showed them the lab results Lucy had reviewed and they, too, agreed that I should NOT be on the thyroid medication they prescribed. They also ran their own lab work. I felt so horrible they tested me for flu, mono, and strep throat. It came back that I had a UTI and was severely dehydrated [most likely due to my thyroid hormones spiraling out of control and affecting the rest of my body]. I had to receive an IV of fluids while there and antibiotics. At a later point, I was contacted by Lucy's office to see why I did not come for my follow up and I informed them it was because one of the medications she prescribed made me very ill to which they replied, "Oh, ok. Do you want to reschedule?" Not hardly! Be very cautious of any health care practitioner. read more
