I can promise you there is something for everyone - from non dancers to professional dancers. I personally have grown so much here and I love all my instructors. They offer dance classes in many styles. I've tried a bunch of their classes like hip-hop, bolly-hop, Jazz, salsa and contemporary. Oh! they offer fitness classes as well, you won't regret it. Check out their Instagram for videos! :) @danceid, @difitwithshaira

*Rediscovering Myself Through Dance: A Journey for New Moms*…read more As a child, I found joy in Bharatnatyam and Hindustani classical vocals, with performance feeling like second nature. But as a new mother, I realized how much I missed that creative outlet--something just for me. Stepping into Dance Identity in Sunnyvale reignited that passion. It's not just about learning new dance styles; it's about reconnecting with myself, embracing movement as an expression of joy, and finding a supportive community along the way. Some of my fellow dancers have become dear friends, making this journey even more rewarding. To all the new moms (and anyone else seeking to be part of a community while learning to dance) out there looking for an energizing escape, a space to move, express, and connect--come dance with us. You deserve this!

I have tried the Thursday Beginner Ballet and Strength and Stretch classes here. Both are taught by…read moreMacKenzie and she is incredibly patient, kind, and sweet! I do think the Beginner Ballet sessions are on the short side (they are only 45 mins) and as a result are better suited for people looking to refine their technique than complete beginners who need to build foundations. Strength and Stretch is also probably best suited to experienced dancers, as the class has students doing crunches for consecutive minutes with no breaks and going into straddles, side splits, and advanced yoga poses with very little preparation and no modifications (this class is also only 45 mins, so warm up and cool down are quite brief). I would rate my experience as a novice to dance as 3 stars, but more experienced dancers may get more benefit from these particular classes, and it seems the ballroom classes are much more popular and well reviewed. This is a convenient location right off Foothill Expressway with ample parking in the back. There are classes in other dance styles (especially ballroom) almost every day of the week, so I may try those another time.

Not only are the teachers very good, but they also create a very welcoming environment. Most of the group classes are small enough that students can get some individual attention. At the outset, I had no intention of taking private lessons, but one thing led to another and now I'm also taking a weekly private lesson.

So in 2 days, I'll have been at this studio 11 months. It's easy to remember because I started as…read moresoon as I was cleared to exercise following surgery. I'm really grateful this PB opened when it did bc I just got back a week ago from the longest, most arduous vacation of my life -- almost 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal in record heat, built around viewing my first total solar eclipse. Lisbon and Granada are HILLY and somehow I booked stays in buildings without elevators, which in my defense are very common? Also the Alfama (the neighborhood in Lisbon I stayed in) is basically a hill that goes all the way up to the Castelo de São Jorge (St. George's Castle), and I somehow staggered up that hill twice just for the views! Heat warnings were in effect for much of my trip. Temperatures in Granada, Seville, and Zaragoza soared well over 100F. Barcelona was only in the 90s, but with significantly higher humidity! And you know what? Sure the weather was miserable, esp for someone used to the Bay Area, but I was still able to keep to a pretty insane schedule -- up around 7am most days, in bed usually around 1-ish am, tons of walking up and down inclines and stairs, and standing when I wasn't moving. FWIW, I'm in my 40s, and there's no way I could have done this trip before 10 months of consistent PB workouts. The other thing to mention is that from what hear and see online, studios can vary quite a bit in terms of instructors and management. I like the instructors and other attendees here, and the owner is super nice and unusually flexible. For instance, according to my boilerplate agreement, membership freezes are supposed to be requested 2 weeks in advance. But when I froze for my trip he said just to let him know the day before, which was nice bc I didn't know my work and therefore workout schedule the final days before the trip. Maybe it's bc I have an unlimited annual membership and/or the studio is fairly new, and policies will be updated over time. But atm, it's just a super friendly place to work out. The last business I liked this much was my former dentist. I used to fear she'd retire and I'd have to find someone else to take care of my teeth and gums. Well, she's early in her well-deserved retirement, so I guess I can replace my fear of her retirement with the fear something will happen to this PB? On the bright side, many of us attendees really like this studio. On the flip, fitness is a super competitive industry these days. I will add that while the PB corporate advertising materials tend to show trim fit people who are very well groomed, there's a wide range of us at this studio. Some are older, some are younger, some are very fit, others aren't athletic/sporty at all. But I've seen noticeable improvement in those of us who stick around, myself definitely included. So if you're thinking about changing or adding something to your workouts, it's really worth checking this studio out!

i go to both barre3 and this pure barre location; while i love both studios, pure barre is…read moredefinitely more of a killer workout! every type of class here works out all the other little muscles you hardly train while doing the usual strength + cardio training. barre is also good for working on your overall posture, which is something i am adamant on. some instructors will provide modifications and some wont- depending on your fitness knowledge you have enough context to modify the moves yourself love that this studio is situated by a smart and final, a japanese grocery store and other eateries- think of it as multi-tasking when you can do your errands all in one plaza. very clean studio, i appreciate the no shoe zones. there are some dead areas where i can see them utilize as extra cubby space/ or quick shoe on/off caddys- that would help the bottleneck of people going out of the last class and into the next class instructors and staff are very friendly- i only go 4x a month and most remember my name! pure barre mv, please open up some -5ish am classes! i would def go!
