Story #1: My cousins forgot to bring a turkey with them from NYC. They called us last-minute to buy one ... on CHRISTMAS EVE! We went to the River Bend Market and asked if they had any non-frozen turkeys (my cousins left no time for thawing). River Bend not only had a range of sizes, but they were all FRESH, non-GMO, organic, and from a local farm in the neighborhood! Ended up being the best turkey I've ever had. Story #2: We once again had to get something last-minute. This time, a Christmas tree. During Christmas week. We drove all over the county looking for one. We finally found a nice one, but it was an hour away. We bought it, and then stopped by River Bend for some snacks and wine. Wouldn't you know it ... they had a whole selection of Christmas trees! However, recently my spouse and I have been openly discriminated against right at the front door because we mask for my spouses health. This is first time it happened (or mention of any policy), we spoke to the manager and she was very reassuring that we would not be asked to remove our masks and they were so sorry for the way we were treated. Today, we went, and was actually yelled at and spoken to very rudely and sarcastically by the front check in person who was working. I could actually see how excited she was to turn us away, like she had been waiting for the first opportunity. We have gone in masked since they have opened. We go every other week almost, never once before these last visits have we been asked to remove our masks. They claim they are following state law which is not the case after researching Massachusetts masking laws. So this is a store policy they are enforcing. And the way they are choosing to enforce it is very unkind. Please do not take stock in the older reviews saying this place is kind or understanding to immunocompromised folks or folks with masks. It was genuinely cruel the way my spouse was spoken to today. Even after pulling their mask down a bit in the busy lobby, the woman really wanted to escalte the situation. I am unsure if they are under new, hateful management, but it is really disappointing and frankly concerning how the culture of the business shifted so suddenly. Beware and be safe, there are plenty of other dispensaries in the area, it's just very disappointing to be treated in such a way from somewhere we have been going for years.
