At the price point of around $5 for a lunch special new China serves a well portioned and good lunch. I tried their orange chicken and it was good. For the price point I will return. I wouldn't say however there's anything super special. They provide a lot of options for the lunch appetizer from soups, egg rolls, to crab Rangoon. sadly all of the positive reviews from friends appeared not to be the case with my recent order. no variety in the vegetables onions and cabbage and a couple pieces of broccoli thrown on the top. We ordered and had it delivered. Orange Chicken and Sesame Chicken were really hard and chewy like they'd been sitting in a hot case for a while. I ended up throwing it away. The Chicken Egg Rolls were huge and they looked great, but they tasted terrible. Crab Rangoons were good. Probably won't ever eat from there again. Save yourself some money and eat at Hy-Chi in Hy-Vee. Cheaper and MUCH BETTER. read more

This is my first Chinese food order since moving to Davenport. Chose New China because they were close and easy to find. Did not disappoint. We ordered hot and sour soup, steamed dumplings and the black pepper chicken. Love that you can designate just how spicy you want your soup. The dumplings were plentiful, there were 10 in the order. The black pepper chicken was tasty and there was enough for leftovers. Can't wait to try more from the menu, and I will definitely be back for more. read more

Last night, we chose to eat Chinese. I decided to try A new place because I was close to the area. I googled, and of course, this was the one that came up with the best stars and reviews. I ordered chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and then my friend got the Mongolian beef. I get home, first to find that my rice LOOKS horrible, but being optimistic, I definitely decided to try it. The chicken in the rice was fantastic, but the rice itself was the most disgusting thing I'd ever eaten. It was oily beyond belief, no egg (which may just be my preference) and it was brown, almost burnt looking. The egg rolls were great. The Mongolian beef had more onions, peppers, and mushrooms than it did meat. My friend literally had the whole entire lid full of them just to reach the meat, and even then had to dig some more to find it. It was very little meat altogether and I felt bad that I surprised him with a crap meal. I would not highly recommend this place to anyone, as I was very sad and disappointed- not to mention, it was hard to find (even with my gps ) because I had not been there before. read more

I've struggled to find good Chinese food in Davenport but I'll definitely return even though it's out of the way for me. I had the beef with mixed vegetables and chose my veg. The beef was tender but not stringy or rubbery-a big issue with me. Sauce was rich and delicious. Staff incredibly friendly (it took be a few minutes to start eating because I was working on something, and she came over and said if I didn't like the entree they'd make me something new!). First time we tried the restaurant and I'm sad for not going here earlier. They are super friendly and quick. Now for the real question on the food. No question they deserve the five stars I gave them. My wife had the chicken broccoli. She went on and on about how great the food was. I had the hot and spicy pork with fried rice. Again the food was so good. Had to make a decision on which I needed to eat first, the fried rice or the hot spicy pork. Knowing that Rice does not reheat well I opted to eat the fried rice. Was not disappointed at all, could make a complete meal out of it was so good. The hot spicy pork was not over-the-top spicy had a nice finish to it. Lots of vegetables, plenty of meat stuffed container. We will definitely order from here again. While I was doing the pickup I had a quick chance to look in the eating area and back in the kitchen. Everything was very clean. We will definitely order from here again. I will definitely tell all my friends. read more
