Ordered to eat there. We both got the lunch specials. Pepper steak and onion and Szechuan chicken. Came with soup, fried rice, soda, and egg roll we thought. It came to over $29. For a lunch special? No price was posted on the menu so I was quite surprised. Food came out fairly quickly. The fried rice was not fried rice but brown rice with nothing else but rice. Egg roll was filled with nothing but some kind of cabbage and greasy. We didn't eat the soup and left most of my food bc it was bland and had way too many green peppers and no spice. Won't be back. New China is better than average. It's in a strip mall so you may not expect much. This is actually pretty good, all things considered. It's not authentic in any way, but it's still just good. They have a good amount of seating. I had the Hunan bean curd. It's about $7 for the regular portion. This was a great price for the amount you get. It came with a large amount of vegetables. It seems many Chinese restaurants give you mostly rice. This place did give me rice, but it wasn't as much as the actual tofu and vegetables. Inside isn't as tight as many strip mall Chinese places. Very standard Chinese American food. It was well-prepared, quick, and service was great. Nothing unusual or gourmet or special atmosphere or "user-experience". No surprises, which for some, is a good thing. Of major annoyance is a constantly repeating "student music"-themed video playing content often found in nurseries and other places where forced-calm (drug rehab clinics?) might be found. The annoyance was offset by very friendly service. This is the sort of place that contains condiments in small plastic packages, very focused one imagines on carry-out business. Staying at the Hampton and looking for quick tasty food at a locally owned eatery that would meet my teenager's hunger and meet our California palette. New China passed with flying colors. Spicy Sechuan Combo and Mushu Vegetable were made fresh and full of fresh, crispy just-steamed veggies, and the flavors were lively. The owner threw in a free cup of egg drop soup. A typical take out Chinese spot. We got the chicken and Chinese veggies, General Tsos, veggie fried rice, and crab Rangoons. The chicken and Chinese veggies were delicious with crisp tender veggies and juicy chicken. The fried rice rice was not as good, kind of bland, but veggies were still good. The order was ready in 20 min as they had said and was still hot when we got home 20 min later. The lady at the restaurant was friendly and communicated we with my sons and I. I received my call in order and saw that it was very meager and did not have the amount that it was supposed to. I called in, a manager told us that they were recooking out order, I sent my husband to the stoore to exchange the order, a NEW person who then proclaimed to be the manager would not let him pick up an order. In fact, they didn't recook an order at all! I have ordered from there many times, they are now apparently out of order with nonexistent management! Don't waste 13$ thinkng you will recieve a large portion order, order the combo or just go to CHENG'S Gourmet for what you deserve and pay for! We stopped in because we were visiting the new pet store in the area. We decided to give the Chinese food a try. I got the general Tsos chicken, wonton soup, and a egg roll. The Chicken and egg roll were good, But overall the food was really bland especially the rice. Not only that, we also found a little silver metal piece in the rice. This place could easily get overlooked, but it's a diamond in the rough. Located in the back corner of a mostly abandoned strip mall- It seems like a pretty standard Chinese restaurant, but it's execution far exceeds the norm. I had never been here before and it's closer than Cheng's so I decided to try it. Hot and sour soup: delicious. Crab Rangoon: decent. Chicken with cashew nuts: the worst I ever had. I've never had it with chicken thighs; it's always been breast pieces. While I liked that there were lots of mushrooms, celery and carrots, nothing except the water chestnuts should have been crunchy. I don't know what that chicken was breaded in, but that was bad too. At least the rice seemed to be fresher than what I got from Cheng's last time. So that was good. The soup is worth going back for. But that's about it. read more

I wanted to try this restaurant after seeing the Yelp reviews. The day we went, the food was mediocre at best. Sweet and sour chicken was reheated in microwave and served with red sauce. Like chicken nuggets with dip. Cashew chicken was the best dish we had and I could see him putting the ingredients in and cooking to order. Szechwan beef was awful. The beef was very chewy with lots of gristle. Very poor quality meat and gravy like Szechwan sauce. Broccoli was fresh. Egg rolls were a little bland and mushy. I'm going to try it again in a few weeks and see if it is any different because the family was really nice, very attentive, gave us some extra rice to take home when we asked for it, no charge.
