Being in the job that i am, i require sometimes certain things that you cant get at the normal high street chains. Today i popped into MilitaryKit.Com (used to be known as New Cross Army Surplus). They cater for Military, Police Force & Security as well as supplies for Camping. They sell brand new to 2nd hand goods with even the 2nd hand being of good quality. Today i required some new boots. Now were do go if your require a boot that not only has to be black, waterproof, warm in winter, cool in the summer. I may be one minuet traipsing through mud, gravel, concrete so this boot has to be able to stand up to all conditions. Well the Lads at here were able to help. We live in a country where the people have little to no say in the making of the laws, the rich have all the power. They have the media, the money and more importantly they have the men and firepower to back it up. We, the working class on the other hand are given a poor education, little prospects and no say in the politics of the country (unless you want to kiss rich arse), our only hope is armed revolution and for this reason we are banned from owning arms. To say only the military should own survival gear, webbing, mess tins, camouflagued clothing is to support an oligarchy that highly taxes its its people and does not allow them to have a say in the laws by which they are governed. If anything New Cross Should be selling us guns and ammunition and our town centres should be full of speakers pushing for a change. After visiting Manchester on a business trip, I had the rare opportunity to do some 'touristing' and came upon one of my most favourite things in life: Cheap Military Surplus Stores. Upon entering the shop, from one glance I instantly knew that this was a professional military store. The shelves are lined with cheap, good quality military, hunting, camping and survival equipment. You have a wide selection of things ranging from gillie sniper suites, to black balaclavas, to sporks. The staff at the MilitaryKit.com were friendly, helpful and had a wide variety of knowledge of the products they sold. They told me the pros and cons of certain products I required and how to get the maximum efficiency out of each item. My one problem, however, was the price for a pair of certain military trousers (costing £24.00) for a size 30. Apart from this one disadvantage the whole shop was spectacular, and I shall be hopefully revisiting this shop for many years to come. read more

In answer to Sam's question - I have no desire to 'dress up exactly like (I'm) from Top Gun'. However, I do find army surplus stores stock items of use to the average civilian. I walked out with two purchases. For the summer, a pair of Dr. Martens sandals with a leather upper/sock plus very cushiony Dr. Martens outsole - for me, a winning combination. Secondly, a pair of calf-length boots, comprising a waterproof rubber shoe, with an insulated cuff with velcro closures. Both items are well-made, functional and attractive, and pretty resonably priced. Overall, this shop has a big, well-stocked floor area, with a mixture of bargains and more expensive items - dressing up like you're from Top Gun would probably set you back a bit, as 'authentic' kit probably carries a premium. However, in this type of store, there is also a healthy focus on technical specification which I find a breath of fresh air versus the plethora of 'designer' outlets lining our high streets. For example, no matter how wealthy I was, I would feel far more inclined to spend £250 here on an industrial strength military watch than several thousand pounds one of the decadent baubles on offer at Selfridges etc. I'm raising an eyebrow at Bex's customer service experience, I'm concerned at Robert's sentiments on armed struggle, but I nonetheless snap a brisk salute to those more rugged elements of our somewhat effete modern society who find what they need at Military Kit. read more

I ordered from militarykit.com online, so haven't been into the store. The product I ordered (some second hand boots) were not in stock, so the owner called me promptly the next day to discuss the issue with me and ask what I wanted to do - take a different size, order an alternative or receive a refund. The boots I asked him to send out were in great condition and with me the following day. You can't get better customer service than that - they treat you like a sensible human being. The owner also really seems to know his stuff. I would definitely order from them again. read more

If you want some army surplus I'd head anywhere but here. Never have I been so offended in any establishment. I was working on a film and came to collect a uniform we needed for an actor. The staff seemed to have no recollection of the conversation held between their manager and my producer, so I set about finding another uniform to take instead. After about an hour we finally had something which looked about right but the staff refused to let us buy it because the boots weren't the right commission. Despite telling them several times that the soldier's rank is never mentioned and his feet are never in shot (we just needed the boots for the sound of him walking) they were adamant we must spend more money to get the correct items. I didn't want to disrespect the institution, but equally didn't want to be taken for a mug so waited for the manager to arrive and sort the whole mess out. When he did arrive he was no help whatsoever and even began making some unsavoury small talk whilst I was paying him. Apparently the staff here get all of their political ideas from the BNP and the Daily Mail is their only source of information about the planet. Excellent. RUBBISH! I bought some patrol leather cordura kombat boots and they cracked and split in less than a month.. speaking to staff (who didn't return my emails when i brought this to their attention)they said they were the cheap ones from China that should really only be used once a week by air cadets and not for gerneral patrol!! It doesn't say that on the website...it says KOMBAT....it says PATROL.... nothing about only wearing them on nices days once a week to go to ATC. Were not interested in refunding my money plus cost me a further £8 to send them back.. If they're sending this rubbish to our boys in Afghanistan then good luck those poor soldiers!! ordered some Laces for my Lowa boots on line it quite clearly states FREE POSTAGE i recieved a card from royal mail saying that postage hadnt been paid and that i would have to pay if i wanted the delivery, i called the shop who were rude and offensive they told me that i take 'pot luck' with free post and that it wasnt a 'decent' order anyway and if i want it then i should pay for it???. he signed off with 'Go F*** y******* you c***' visa returned my money i would Avoid this expensive and poorly run shop at all costs!!! read more

charged twice for the same delivery, equipment faulty. their comment (what due you expect from some thing made in china). asked for the item to be exchanged and was told i had to pay for the item to be returned. the staff of there on line service poor and ill informed regarding distance sell rules, or are they trying to rip off customers? still not been repaid for the over charge, there next day service is not always next day. the products they sell are not all good quality and fit for purpose, customer service is very poor. read more

Beware of ordering online. The stuff I was sent was pure Chinese crap of the lowest possible quality, certainly not what was advertised. I returned it for a refund and the shop would not even communiate with me. Eventually had to use the Paypal dispute service to get my money back. What a bunch of crooks. read more
