Not well recommended as there are bands playing at night shaking up the entire building. A bit annoying, but you pay for what you get.

3-night stay in 4-bed mixed dorm in March/April…read more The cafe area was so cute! When we arrived mid afternoon, there were so many people milling about on their laptops or chatting. It gave a pleasant feel. This is also the area you check-in at. The front-desk staff were very friendly and walked us through how to use our key cards and where things were located. The room looked like a dorm room, as expected, with bunk beds and lockers. We also had a private bathroom and shower, which I was pleasantly surprised about. We couldn't get the A/C to work, so we had to keep the windows cracked at all times. It would've been nice to be able to open the window completely for more airflow as it got stuffy/warm often. The beds are a place to sleep... don't expect much comfort. Loved the basement common areas! So much space and unique places to sit. It is also a bar at night with karaoke and lots of people mingling. Overall, it was a clean and fun hostel experience.

I don't thinks that's fair. Room service is not prompt. And the restrooms and the rooms stink. Absolutely no ventilation in the restrooms. The only solace is the bar in the basement which has some nice vibe but watered down drinks. The Wombats at Budapest was 10 times better and that's the reason I chose to stay here, but I'm disappointed.

Stayed here as a bit of an experiment for myself as I'd never stayed in a hostel before and it…read morereally wasn't too bad. I booked it as I needed somewhere to crash for a few hours after leaving a club at 4am and it suited that purpose perfectly. Each room has a supply of lockers to keep your stuff safe. Bring your own padlock if you don't want to end up buying one. For £16.49 (less cashback through Quidco!) I got a bed in a shared room of 12 beds, usable wifi, clean toilet/shower facilities and a continental breakfast consisting of cereal, toast, boiled eggs, yoghurt, tea/coffee, juice. It's about 10 minutes walk from New Cross Overground station and less than 5 minutes from the bus stop. The night bus N89 brings you from central London to the end of the road in 15-20 minutes all through the night. Luxury it isn't, but at this price it's not supposed to be. It serves it's purpose well, and I'd use it again if circumstances require it. The decor could do with freshening up in some areas but not if that impacts the price! The downstairs doubles as a pub with a small selection of drinks. I had a Fosters there for £3.50.

There's a bar downstairs so it may be quite loud sometimes, but it wasn't an obstacle, at least for me. I'll be back! ;) The only problem is that it's quite far from the city centre, but you can always take a bus or tube. Not the safest part of London and it's better not to hang around alone at night.

In my opinion this hostel deserves at least 4 stars. During my short period stay in London, i…read morestayed in other one, and was better located but not even comparable with this one. YHA Rotherhithe is a hostel for young people located in the other side of the main river, the Thames. With only one metro line or one bus, you are in the city center, so the price its reallly good value. I have to say that the first day, because of an staff error and a misunderstanding, they charge me the room twice, but once I told them, they changed us (me and my friends) to a private room, without paying any extra fee, and gave two days breakfast for free. The breakfast was really good. English one, and bread, cereals, milk and yogurt were also available. The common areas were very well equipped even with football table! :)

Apart from the access, it is a nice hostel so long as the lift is working. You can have a good laugh with the chef he does a decent meal for under a tenner, watch the footy at the bar, and get all of your travel/exploring information from reception. The price you pay for the hostel and then the travel to get into the city, it would be more worthwhile to pay a bit extra and stay in the city where you can walk everywhere.
