We loved the fishing, canoeing, game room, pool and being in the middle of nowhere with no option but to RELAX! Gary and Pippa were wonderful hosts and were very helpful and patient with all our planning. They were also available to cater a BBQ on site for us. Since they don't have a large meeting room/hall we rented a tent and ended up putting it to good use. Also, the part of the lake the Cedars is on is VERY shallow and murky which didn't entice any swimmers. There are swimming areas nearby which does help. Overall we had a WONDERFUL time!

The place is fantastic and each cottage comes fully equipped with everything you expect and more - bed sheets, all cooking equipment, spices, abundant amounts of plates cups and utensils. The owners are extremely friendly, and also keep chickens and sell freshly-laid eggs (I didn't get a chance to try though). Also on the premises is a games room equipped with a ping pong table, a pay-per-use pool table, foosball table, shuffleboard table and a pay-per-use washer/dryer. The cottages and chalets (we've stayed in both before) all come with electric heating, as well as a wood stove to keep yourselves warm. The water is clean and drinkable. The washrooms are updated and modern. The larger cottages and chalets come with a pull-out couch that will fit an extra couple people. BBQ and associated tools are of course included. On the Summer trip, we went canoeing on Lake Eugenia (the resort has a beachfront on this lake, and they rake their shoreline of all the debris that occasionally washes up). Past the road bridge, lake Eugenia is very vast and beautiful. There are also paddleboats to use, and both of these are included. Kayaks are rentable at an additional cost. All the buildings have easy access, but the chalets are the ones that sit closest to the waterfront. On our Winter trip, we used the cottage resort as a base and went to the nearby Blue Mountain ski resort (about 1/2 hour), coming back to cook delicious meals. The three bedrooms share a generous and comfortably furnished common area with TV and VCR. The kitchen is more than ample for simple meals, with a full-sized fridge/freezer, plus microwave, 2-burner hot plate and slow cooker. There are 2 small grocery stores in Eugenia, both an easy walk away, as well as a restaurant and a diner (open weekends). Each room has its own private entrance to the guests' patio. The bedroom was very comfortable; I was in the north room with large windows on 2 sides and a lovely king-sized bed. The shared bathroom was small but well-designed. The house is just steps from the conservation area and the falls, which plunge into a forested gorge. I cleared my head with walks on the Bruce Trail, and up to Lake Eugenia. I understand there's plenty to do in the area, though that's not why I was there! It was a perfect week -- highly recommended.

We were speaking with the owner's brother, Michael, and he let us know they had only been open for 8 weeks. Felt safe in the house and we ended up having the place to ourselves for the most part as the other peeps also staying at the same time went into town for most of the evening that we stayed. House was spotless and very nicely furnished. Bed was super comfy. One thing to note : everywhere nearby we called did not deliver food to the inn (even the local courrier/delivery place) so if you are having a few drinks, be sure to plan accordingly. We ended up going to a pizza place in town (see next review) before we got too into the "sauce" LOL. Breakfast was really amazing and the highlight of our stay. All of us agreed it was one of the best French toast dishes we ever had - super crunchy on the outside yet amazingly fluffy on the inside - YUM! Michael is actually a chef in Collingwood and you could tell from the care and execution of the dishes. I do think they need to possibly reconsider the bathroom situation (ie add another one if possible) as there was only one shared option on the upper level. Just made it a bit awkward trying to shower in the morning as there were probably at least 8 people trying to get in there. Also, one small note - there was no where to hang the wet towels after being used. Perhaps just adding a rack behind the room doors would suffice! All in all, I would definitely stay here again!

The housecleaning staff are fantastic The hotel is kept very clean. They have a continental breakfast everyday and it is a really good one suppling expresso type coffees all day & night long. Head of the restaurant comes by with refills often! You pay at the till at the front of the restaurant when you're done eating! Also, they've very good at splitting the bills for you if you're eating with your friends as they just ask you what you ate, and you pay for those items.
