The Lead teacher Marriyah & Asst. Director, Bronwyn have been the absolute best with our daughter. The center also utilizes the DailyConnect app so I can see updates throughout the day, get messages from teachers, and know how much she ate for lunch and snack which is helpful for dinner preparation. The Director Roberta is wonderful to work with as well! She is great with communication and wonderful with the kids as well. We're very happy with our decision after a rough first daycare experience.

So when I had to look for a place that I could trust with my firstborn when he was 10 weeks old, I was pretty particular, to say the least. I also needed a place that was convenient to my commute and was reasonably priced. It's been 10 months now and I am so happy I found this place. First of all, Pat, who works in the infant room, is an absolute baby-whisperer (or a Godsend, depending on your religious affiliations). It is such a joy to leave your child with someone who makes him flash that adorable toothless grin. She takes excellent care of the babies; my child is always is well-rested, well-fed, clean and - most importantly !happy! at the end of the day. The toddler room also seems to be a happy place. All the ladies have been almost like co-parents to us. They are baby experts! and will give you helpful tidbits about your particular child. I don't expect the moon - it is a daycare center, and it is tucked in a place that has crazy construction going on right now. Also it's not like they offer a fully organic menu or baby reiki or anything, but at least they are willing to work with you. They've also been flexible with our unpredictable work schedules, which is huge.

I was frantic and desperate for childcare, and when I walked in and saw Mary (the owner) wearing a cheery green leprechaun hat for St. Patrick's Day and calling each child by name, I knew I was in a good place. I only have a few (minor) complaints about this place, and I'd send another child here in a heartbeat. My son is starting kindergarten soon, so I'm sad to say we'll be leaving CVM soon after nearly 2 years. I'll get the cons out of the way quickly: (1) Parking is a little rough, since CVM is smack dab in the middle of a swath of auto-body places, and it's in an urban neighborhood right next to the University of Minnesota. Often there are no parking spots and parents have to idle their cars in the middle of the lot. (2) The staff could probably use a dress code. Their clothing is sometimes a little off-putting... there's something to be said for looking neat and tidy and well-groomed, and CVM staff occasionally are lax in this department. The pros: (1) CVM accepts childcare assistance. You'd be astonished how many places don't. This was a major factor for me. (2) The location is very convenient -- RIGHT next to the University of Minnesota, which is great for people like me who are students, staff or faculty at UMN but couldn't get in off the waiting list at the university daycare. (3) The mix of kids is healthy. The kids almost uniformly come from good homes, and many are the children of grad students and university employees. The racial balance is well-distributed and diverse, not skewed in any one direction, and my son has playmates whose parents hail from countries as diverse as Ethiopia, Somalia, Laos and Norway. Having playmates whose parents are involved, serious about parenting and affectionate is so important. Parents often bring treats for all the kids. (4) Mary, the owner, has been at CVM for almost 30 years -- longer than I've been alive. That continuity is so good for the children. There is less turnover at CVM than other childcares I've used. (5) I have never felt anything less than completely secure leaving my son in the care of CVM. Even when they bring the kids to the park (a few blocks away) or walk them to the playground, I know they're keeping a good eye on him and taking good care of him. You can't put a price on that.

However just this month I walked in early from work and heard my 2yr old screaming and being carried like a rag doll by a teacher named Sarah. They changed the story 3times and kicked my kids out instead of investigating it and try to say my son has issues with kicking when he see's me arrive. They are all about the money and if your child is mistreated they do not care. Stay far away. My whole time with my kids have been stressful. Glad my kids are gone but sad for the kids still there who I've seen been mistreated. Zero stars!

They are amazing. The food they serve isn't the best, just like grade school would I guess, no organic meals or anything but you can bring your own food for them if you can afford it. They have fun side classes and my son brings home the sweetest stuff that he's worked on. My son comes home with great knowledge and the teachers communicate to me everything each day. He has grown by leaps and bounds being at primrose compared to where he was going in our prior state. He's also built some amazing friendships. Other notes...they never close compared to other school districts when it snows. Which has been really nice. The kids will not go play outside if temp is below 15 degrees. Plus another cool thing is the place is always clean! We toured many schools in the area and we like PSW the best. We haven't changed our minds after many years of attending. The staff is either college educated, getting their degree, or have many years of childcare experience. They do not hire summer break college students, etc. This is a big plus for parents and for the children. Another positive for us - the infant cribs are in an area where they can be constantly supervised while sleeping. Some other infant daycare companies have faux bedroom areas that are closed off from the play area. This means that an adult cannot see into the cribs at all times. This concerned me. The location is owned by a husband and wife that reside in Woodbury. It is not a location that part of a larger organization that simply has a manager. The owners are actively involved making sure parents and students alike are enjoying their daily experience. My older kids have learned so much going to "school" there and our kids continue to impress us each day. The kids are exposed to many different things to help them nurture the fun of learning. The nightly recaps of their day are now sent electronically when you check out. Sometimes the recaps include pictures of your child or activities during the day, and that is fun to see. The PSW staff also takes time out on weekends or after school to put on additional activities for children and families. Parents in the Woodbury area should strongly consider PSW.

I totaled my car and had a hard time getting my child to them for a bit until I was able to get a new car and the woman was extremely rude to me telling me my son cannot come anymore because missed too much and it was only like a couple weeks total. she made it sound like county wouldn't pay anymore but when I talked to county after the fact they said my case was fine and open. extremely rude I was appalled. bad vibes from her from the beginning.

I only got information if I asked the question. The space does have a weird layout but classrooms appear to be clean, secure, and structured. But the first impression has left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be bringing my children to a place that didn't seem very welcoming or forthcoming with information.
