I decided to visit this museum. After all, I was parked outside it!
Admission is $7 for an adult. Donations are encouraged. You can also sign the guestbook.
I loved learning about how Icelandic immigrants chose Gimli as their new home. Some couldn't hack the cold, and ended up moving to either North Dakota or South Dakota. It's not exactly that much warmer down there!
Gimli contains the largest Icelandic community outside of Iceland. They are proud of their heritage and achievements. I learned so much, thanks to this museum.
You can watch a brief ten-minute flick about passing on Icelandic values and traditions from one generation to the next. There are enough displays and information to keep you interested.
If you have a chance to visit Gimli, it's worth your $7 and your time to learn about the town's Icelandic roots.
