Timing was good, not rushed. I had a go at the broccoli soup and the Mexican chicken burger. Soup was simple but tasted fresh and delicious. The burger was decent, and although there were jalapeños on there I was expecting a little more heat. Washed down with an Everard's original ale. Good spot for a beer to catch up with friends or for a meal. Can get busy around holiday times - recommend making a table booking for meals. Free parking out the front.

Trendy without having to try too hard, friendly and upbeat staff, the management team got it just right when they set this place up (free drinks always welcome if you read this Dave or Andy!) Its been a few years since its last refurb but still looks fresh and inviting. The beer garden is brilliant (and packed) when the sun shines and has just the right balance of open space and enclosure from the high street. You do tend to find (as with most bars in the town centre) that the age group is predominantly 18-22, however I am 34 (yes and proud of it!!) and I do not feel out of place and like an oldie in the way that I do for example in Yates's wine bar. Dress code - understated cool, think jeans and a fave top, and accesorize up , rather than full on club gear. Labels abound - but not obligatory. Music varies but mainly your typical dance tunes, coupled with drum and base and some mainstream. Reasonable sized space on the dance floor for throwin a few shapes if that's your bag - the staff tend to encourage this and join in with gusto. Always a party atmosphere to be had, very little genuine posing, and a no hassle ambience. A little known secret is their food.. pop in for your lunch on a weekday and you will find that its good value, excellent quality and the portions are on the whole very generous. I had the linguine the other day and it was enough for three!!. Also DO come here on a sunday for your good old roast - iin my opinion its unbeatable in Tamworth for value, portion size and a good laid back atmosphere. You do have to sometimes vy for space with a few pensioners - who somehow seem to have got wind of the place - but it just adds to the good old British Sunday traditional atmosphere.

The couple who own the pub are super-nice people and you will easily be able to strike a conversation with them. The decor is very basic indeed, but you will certainly find all the usual amenities. The beers I tried were all fresh and well-kept. Nothing sensational then, just a good, solid community boozer.

Not the best offering in the area. Luckily they haven't spoilt the cosy local feeling that these kind of pubs have (or used to have). And there are some colourful characters as patrons and staff. Boasting a great outside area, plenty of sport on the telly and some interesting personalities. Old Clarence is great as a local to come down, watch the game and sink a few pints with mates.

The locals usually meet in this bar before taking the train (it's a good point of meeting if you have a football match or a night out before heading to what you are up to). Or if you prefer to watch the matches there, as well! Euro 2012 inclusive! Offering disco and karaoke nights, The Norton Arms seems to be a good option of night out as well. Drink menu includes real ales and there are loads of different meal deals choices at their menu. I would recommend one of their many baguette and sandwich options. They also accept pre-orders. As this pub is placed nearby the a huge industrial area I imagine it is very useful for those working nearby it. The Norton has a gorgeous beer garden when the sun comes out! it's a decent and popular pub that has to be experienced another time, when I am able to enjoy some drinks!

The rooms (well ours at least and so I assume the others too) are beautifully renovated, clean, airy and comfortable. The wonderful couple running the Inn, Becky and Doug go out of their way to make you welcome, comfortable and happy. We really saw and see them as friends and plan to continue that friendship once we move the the U.K. permanently in a few months. So long as you are up by about 9am Doug will personally cook you breakfast to order. The meals in the evening (5 stars for the fish and chips and the Stilton chicken) are excellent - as was the company during our stay. The other staff were also ultra-friendly and helpful. The inn/pub is the ideal size, lovely location and recommended with 2 thumbs up :)

We plumped for the 'Early Bird Special' - a limited menu at a reduced price before 7pm (£8.95 for two courses, £9.95 for three. We plumped for fish, chips and mushy peas, and lasagne, but there was also dishes like steak and ale pie. The food was good hearty stuff, huge portions too, you would do well to eat three courses at the Bulls Head! Obviously you've got to have a dessert, of which there was quite a wide choice, we chose bread and butter pudding, and waffle and cherries, again monster portions! The Bulls Head serves good honest food at a very reasonable price, you can't ask for much more than that.

Fairly unusually, the Chequers has outside toilets, which can be a tad bracing in depth of winter! It also has quite a big area of outdoor seating, which the last time we went had a horse on it!
