The sign above the door tells you that the landlord and landlady welcome you inside, and, once you are inside, you do feel comfortable, welcomed and at home. On my driving visit, I went for the beer (coke) and burger deal for a fiver. Now, these deals are usually bad ideas in pubs, 'cause the burger is bound to be cheap and microwaved for that sort of price isn't it? Not here. It was pretty darn tasty, and definitely value for money. On the occasion that I went to get hammered with some mates on a weekend night, it served me similarly well. Surprisingly full of lively young folk (it is located in a rather small, lifeless town), it had a great atmosphere and the alcohol offers (on both beers and spirits) made the night a lot cheaper than it should have been.

But, thanks…read moreto recalling the recent review of this place from Kate W, whilst on an aimless jaunt along the outer roads of Leeds, this place called out from behind the windscreen of my cohort's car. We pulled up and had to park opposite the Guisley theatre (who're showing Guys and Dolls at the moment, if you care for it) and took a very brief and very chilly walk over to Coopers. The bar is large, with boothed areas for dining and supping, and boasts a number of past and present beer mats on the wall behind the bar. I'm told there's a huge function room upstairs, and sure enough there was plenty of literature about the bar with events coming up. We took advantage of their 3rds offer, where you can sample a 3rd of three different pints on taster trays. In all, it meant we got to try 6 of the 8 beers on offer, and whilst I did my best to be cognisant of what I was drinking I quickly forgot which was which... Excepting the porter, which was the only dark beer on offer. With Kipling, Bete Noir, Wild Mule, Okams MPA and more, it was lots of fun taking in the different tastes. Being a beer fan, but not fanatic, it was great to get a feel for how the different flavours come through, from overtly citrus, to hoppy, to chocolate. And of course, each tray is priced at the cost of one pint. The bar is dog friendly, as we saw many different pooches lazing around, and it's very friendly. We were sat outside for less than a minute before some gals came chatting, so I can imagine it's lovely to nip in solo or with friends. The staff looked really happy too, bantering with locals, and they were happy to advise. Essentially, it's a fantastic warm pub, and another great Market Town Tavern. Love it!

The name is a bit clichéd for sure, but the pub itself is quite refreshing. This is because it is rare to find a drinking hole nowadays that is so live-music friendly. The Rose offers upcoming bands and old crooners equal time on the mike, and they also offer an open mic night, meaning that you can often stumble upon a rare bit of talent. Because of the live music feature, the atmosphere is usually good, and the drinks are standardly priced. But sometimes you just wanna enjoy your pint in peace.

It had a definite atmosphere of hearty Yorkshireness about it, from the massive plates of food to the well poured pints of stout, all of which is offered up at expectedly small prices. I didn't have food or ale, however, I had a coke, and then I left, because I felt like an outsider - I'm sure it's great if you live in Yeadon. But I don't.

Neighbouring world famous Harry Ramsden's chippy, the White Cross is a family orientated pub in a family orientated suburb of Leeds, and so it works well. Stylish and modern inside, and simply attractive from the outside, the place does the important things well, something I have come to expect from Ember Inns pubs. The food is definitely above your average pub grub, yet it is priced as if it is no better than some of the rubbish you get served all too often in other pubs - I wolfed down a mixed grill without thinking and loved every bite. They also offer cheap deals on certain nights, including curry and steak nights occasionally. A word of warning to those who want to get smashed however - this probably isn't the place to go. It's very much an eat-and-have-a-couple of-quiet-pints sort of place.

The Pub has ample car parking and is local to the famous market and historcal towns of Yeadon, Guiseley, Otley and Ilkley. The pub it's self provides a warm and friendly envionment in which family and friends can relax and enjoy a drink or even a lovely meal. The envionment is modern and relaxed. The food is of a high standard and on various nights of the week offers meal deals, these tend to include steak nights and curry nights which include a drink with your chosen meal. The staff are friendly and the service is timely.

But we were very disappointed that we had a table booked from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and after the main course the waitress asked if we would like a sweet to which we answered yes, and then a couple of minutes later we were told that we had to change tables which I do think was very bad mannered. We had 40 minutes or so left on our booking, and had noticed a table near us that were there before we got there and still there, only drinking hot drinks so we couldn't understand at all why we were moved. This really made us feel that we weren't important clients at all. If the pub had overbooked, that wasn't our problem. We have been to this restaurant many times, but this time went away feeling very disappointed.
