My brother recommended new jawad for good Pakistani cuisine while in Paris. I went to this location that was near the Eiffel Tower. Pretty spacious restaurant with outdoor tables as well. Even though the street gets rather busy, I don't think I'd like to eat outside at this location. I was seated promptly and menu was given. Service was a little off. It felt like I upset one of the wait staff when he asked if I was ready to order and I told him no. He just kept walking and I had to say my drink order out loud behind him. Someone else heard it and brought it for me. Then it felt like forever before anyone would give me service. The wait staff who had previously asked totally ignored me. Another gentleman came and got my order. I had the chicken biryani for 20 euros and raita for 7 euros. The biryani tasted decent but had nuts and raisins in it. This was different from Pakistani or Indian cuisine. We mostly see that in kabuli pulao. However, the biryani wasn't bad I actually enjoyed it. The raita was really fresh. I then had to wait quite a bit for my check as well and had to ask for it. I'd give the service a 2/5. The food a 3/5. read more

By the last day in Paris, I was craving some desi food. Being of Pakistani descent, I love my desi food atleast once in a week. We had walked towards the Eiffel Tower and New Jawad restaurant was very close to the Eiffel Tower. We ate there for lunch. When we got there alittle after 12 PM, we were the only patrons dining. By the time we were leaving the restaurant, almost every table was full. This place seemed like a local favorite. The ambience is fine dining and there is a good vibe in the restaurant with good tables, artsy plating of the food and more. Service - It was extremely slow at the end while trying to get the check to pay. They seemed to take forever since we tried to flag down multiple wait staff. Service is a a 3 star. Food- This is definitely close to a 5 star. I would only change one thing, the naans were a bit too crispy. They needed to be alittle softer. As far as both of the dishes we ordered were excellent. The mutton keema was tasty and the chicken curry was nicely flavored with the sauce. Pricing- The lunch menu was 15 euros per person and came with dessert. The dessert Sam M ate was kulfi (desi style ice cream) and I had two popular desi pastries. Drinks were additional cost, the chai is a must to order with those desserts. They also had a 20 or 25 euro menu per person for lunch that came with more meal courses to eat. Overall a extremely solid choice for desi food in Paris.~ read more

My fiancé and I stumbled past New Jawad when we smelt how good the food smelt and decided to pop in for dinner. We were completely surprised with how DELICIOUS everything was. We ordered the vegetable samosas, rice with peas, garlic naan, butter chicken, and mango lassis. When I say this is the best butter chicken I've ever had... I mean it. New Jawad is a Pakistani restaurant a few minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower. On one of our morning walks from Champs Elyees we ended up for lunch just as they opened for the day. The restaurant is well decorated and at the high end which is unusual for most Pakistani restaurants in Europe. The menu has many different entrees but we chose to go with the lunch special which ended up being a great choice. We ordered the following: -mutton Keema -chicken curry Both were tasty and delicious. The lunch special came with naans and rice and I ended up getting a Kulfi for dessert which was yummy. As good as the food was getting out of this restaurant is a nightmare. It took literally 45 minutes for the servers to finally settle the bill so we could leave. 4 star with food being great but service leaves a lot to be desired specially for a high end place. read more

Extremely rude service!!!! Was looking forward to some Pakistani food but this spot was not authentic at all. We were seated right away but asked for water multiple times until we finally just got up and got a jug of water ourselves while all the servers just congregated by the entrance area. I ordered the Pakoras as an appetizer and 4 small pieces came out with just the besan (bread coating) and an extremely thin slice of potatoe that was barely visible. When I asked the waiter if this is how much we would be getting he said yes and appetizers are not meant to be shared and that's the portion size you get with an attitude and that this is not the US where everything is larger....ahh okay. I dont know what world he lives in but everywhere else in the world appetizers are meant to be shared. Next came out Chicken Tikka Masala which was alright and tasted more like it was frozen and re-heated again.The Lamb Biryani was decent but the service just killed the entire experience. I asked for the bill since we had been waiting awhile and the waiter responded with "I know" rudely and came back. We paid at the table and reviewed the bill while he hovered over us. No dessert was offered to us but an attitude was definitely given. I don't know how they have so many reviews they all look fake to me. I won't be returning here at all. This Pakistani restaurant is great. We met the owner, Balal, who was so friendly and passionate about his food. We ended up letting him order our whole meal. We had the butter chicken, lamb, basmati rice (they have 5 kinds of rice) and then of course the nan bread (they have 12 kinds of nan). Everything is prepared in-house and from scratch. If you are looking at the great reviews and thinking of going here...DON'T!! The only perk is that the restaurant is open till late. The food was not ok..it was BAD. And we tried a lot of things - chicken tikka masala (horrible), naan (OK), biryani (bad), daal (bad...its tough to get daal wrong...but these people did), tandoori platter (horrible...please don't). If you think the service will be any better....it was not. The staff was not interested in their work, and they had to be called multiple times before they came to check on you (and it was not like they were busy...they were all gathered together and busy chatting). The bathroom was a mess...with water all over the floor. If you want a good experience, want fine dining with good food and service...this is NOT the place. Only go here if all other places have closed for the night and there are no other options. read more

We came here on a recommendation from the hotel we were staying in. Overall it was okay but not the tastiest Indian food I've had. We ordered a bunch of food for the table, including matar paneer (which we had to send back because we ordered it mild and it was incredibly spicy), dal, mixed vegetables, and butter chicken. We also ordered three types of bread - garlic and pistachio naan, and a stuffed bread with nuts and coconut. The breads were the best item on the table! The flavors in the dishes were just not too remarkable, and that was a bit of a disappointment. Specifically, the peas in the matar paneer were very mealy with little to no taste, it's almost as if they forgot to put spices in the dish when they had to make it again. The spiciness of the mixed vegetables and dal far outweighed their flavors, and that's not how Indian food should taste to me. It's a very nice restaurant, but the food doesn't live up to the presentation of the place. Hopefully the chef makes some improvements! read more

I am another one who doesn't understand the negative reviews for this place. The junior waiters were not very friendly, and some of the lamb pieces were a little chewy, but the sum of the experience was very positive. So you're traveling and you miss some good curry so you head to this fabulously reviewed place. Famished, we go straight to the mains and order Matar Paneer and some other dishes to go along. Being a vegetarian, I generally have to compromise in quite a few cuisines but curries are my friends, till this place decided they shouldn't be. How would you feel if you ordered Butter Chicken and they gave you the awesome buttery curry but no chicken? Or Lamb Rogan Josh with no lamb pieces in it? That's exactly what their Paneer dishes were - Palak paneer had no paneer, matar paneer was peas in a gravy. I understand that in a more meat focused region, I shouldn't be expecting amazing revolutionary curries but is it too much to ask for that you at least give me what's written on your menu? I do see the other reviews are more focused on meat dishes and I can't say how they were but if you're a vegetarian or intend to order anything veg, skip this place. Also, icing on the cake was the guy who served us - I probably have never been served with such disinterest, slamming-food-on-the-table way than this place. Terrible service. We came two hours before closing yet we were treated like they were about to close. Once we were seated we were given nasty looks and stares from the servers around us. Once placing our order we specifically asked for water, yet we did not receive water FOR THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE. However other tables were receiving a large amount of attention. Not once were we asked if we were ok with the food or if we would like something else to eat. Upon arrival of the bill we politely told the server that we did not receive water and that we were unhappy with how we are treated. The servers response was simply "Ok" and he left. This restaurant is an amazing find. I took my family on their first trip to Paris, and on the way to the Eiffel Tower they got hungry. Fortunately New Jawad was on the way. One of the best parts of Paris is having more than just excellent French cuisine available. We have had excellent Indian/South Asian food before at excellent restaurants and in friends kitchens and the food met that high standard. Our waiter was very helpful, and upon realizing we needed the menus in English made every effort to make us comfortable. The service was prompt enough to make an American feel content but not invasive enough to shy away Europeans. The food was excellent, and definitely take what the waiter recommends into account. read more

Greatly disappointed. My boyfriend and I had initially wanted to go elsewhere but had to come here because the other place was closed. Looking at the fancy atmosphere and prices, we expected quality food. Quality was far from what we received. The lamb vindaloo had maybe 5 pieces of overcooked lamb. The curry was disappointingly small in portion for 15€. The chicken tikka masala wasn't any better. After ordering exactly just those two dishes and two pieces of nan, the waiter asked if we wanted water and rice. We said sure, not knowing they would charge us a total of 9€ for the two. Talk about service. The service is not only slow but also rude. There were two ladies next to us, seemingly of Indian descent. One lady had something stuck in her throat at one point, obviously in great discomfort. Upon asking for a glass of water, the waiter simply put a hand up and said, "wait," and promptly ignored her attempts to explain her situation. Just got ripped off by the thieving staff working here. There was clearly an extra drink charged to the table, around 6 euros extra. When i asked about it, the server who was already so arrogant for no reason said it's the tea, which was clearly already charged. The worst part is, the lady sitting at the table next to us had the same exact problem with her bill, an extra charge. I was going to leave a tip, but they took care of that themselves I guess. To the owner of the restaurant: Please keep your staff in check, it's not about charging 6-7 euros more per bill but more about trust. The cuisine was great and contrary to a recent review we were seated immediately and given excellent service. Very tasty in moderate portions The raita and bread werel excellent. Pretty good Indian where you'd least expect it. The biggest plus is the ambience, white tablecloths, nice service, clean, attentive, greeted with an aperitif as you sit (albeit a blue aperitif but still good if you like a martini blanc). We had the salmon tandoori appetizer that was excellent. Great spices, quality salmon, two big pieces for 10€. Mango lassi was also very big, tasty, and refreshing. Other than that we got the channa masala that had a nice sauce with a good blend of spices but the pois chiches were canned and mushy. Also got the saag paneer, which was also nice but instead of paneer had what we finally determined was cream cheese. At least trying to figure out what the weird dairy was gave us something to discuss vigorously over dinner. All in all a good experience when you're craving Indian, I think I will try more meat dishes next time. read more
