The food is delicious, the flavours are fresh, not sickly or oily which I find a lot of Chinese take away can be. The buffet has a nice medium size selection, a little bit of everything. The only down size is that most of the deserts arent made on the premises, they seem to be out of a box.

Currently it is £5.99 for lunch during the week, which is excellent value. The buffet contains mainly Chinese food. There are about 10 different starters, 20 or so main courses and some desserts. In a sense the place itself is somewhat basic - in that it has tiles instead of carpet - there are no table cloths etc, but this doesn't spoil it at all. You leave your used plate on the table while you go and get some more food and by the time you return it has been taken away-brilliant! recommended.

Stopped in here for lunch while driving from London to Liverpool on a gloomy, rainy day because I…read morewas craving noodle soup and the reviews were incredible. It was set about 15-min from the A6 but wow was it worth the detour! They have a massive menu with foods from all over east Asia. We decided to share a starter of salt & pepper short ribs. The husb opted for Singapore noodles (his favorite) and I was going to order spicy combination noodle soup but was recommended to try the Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup the was on the specials board. I love tom yum so it was a no-brainer to take the recommendation. The short ribs were delicious. Perfectly fried so they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and they were covered in a delectable salt, pepper, garlic, and onion topping. (chef's kiss) The Singapore Noodles were a healthy portion and OMG the meat was SO TENDER. Sorry for yelling, but I needed to make sure everyone understood. Sometimes meat can be overcooked slightly and a little chewy, but they have perfected the art of meat here! The Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup was brimming with ingredients and was massive! The combination is their house mix of meats and seafood. Again, the meat was INCREDIBLY TENDER! The seafood was plentiful and also cooked to perfection. I was able to stop myself from stuffing it all into my face so I could wrap up a third of it for future me. I found both dishes to be decently spicy and the server let me know that both were level 1 spicy so I'll definitely kick it up a notch next time I'm back. I think the husb will happily stay at level 1 . The chefs come from Hong Kong and we gave our compliments to the chef over the short wall separating the kitchen from the dining area. This place is now a must-stop for us when we drive from London to the North and it should be for you too!
Asian fusion? Chinese crossed with Japanese and a side of vietnamese?…read more It's a bit hard to pin point the exact origins making up Wofon, but that's what makes it such an exciting treat. There are three steps when ordering -- choosing your noodles (or rice), topping and sauce. Noodles vary from the traditional Japanese ramen (wheat noodles), Udon (thicker wheat noodles), or perhaps a classic Chiense Dan Meen (egg wheat noodles). The toppings selection varies with Wofon special (selection of meats, prawn, roast pork), mixed seafood, or roast duck, for example. And lastly, the sauces. Selection can be Chinese Szechuan spicy, curry, or Japanese teriyaki. What I love about Wofon (aside from their amazing cheap prices) is that there is such a plethora of selection choices. You can order soup noodles one day, mixing noodles another, mixing rice, or wok fried rice. The selections are completely endless! I also strongly recommend the spare ribs with barbecued sauce as a starter. And the banana with vanilla ice cream as a dessert. And for £2.50, you can't beat the price. Enjoy!

This lovely Cantonese restaurant was such a surprise. I've learned that in England many…read morerestaurants require reservations to be seated on the weekend. My group wanted to visit another Cantonese in Stourbridge, but it was booked. So we settled on this one. Nobody in our party of 5 was disappointed after that meal though. Since we had a large sized group, we found the easiest was to order off a set menu. It said it catered to groups of 4, but the restaurant was able to accommodate our 5. We chose menu D, £21 per person. I am struggling to remember the food we had because it was so much!! I know the meal began with crispy duck pancakes. Our server shredded what looked like to be a whole duck!! It was fantastic. So fresh and crispy. Next came a variety of starters. There were prawns, wontons, chicken skewers, and fried seaweed. The chicken was in a strange sauce that wasn't my favorite. But everything else was delicious. It felt like we were forgotten about after those starters because we sat there for quite a while. It wasn't until a member of my parter asked where our food was that they brought it out. And the food wouldn't stop arriving. So. Much. Food. Luckily we had a mini spinning lazy Susan to spin the dishes around. For our mains, let's see, we had lemon chicken which was so good we debated ordering another plate. There was a lamb dish, sweet and sour pork, a sizzling steak dish, and this really cute "birds nest" seafood dish. Yes I said cute. I'd never seen something served like that before. It was so much food. Oh yeah we had fried rice too. The lamb was the least favourite of the group, but don't think it was bad. We just aren't lamb people I guess. After a "pre starter", filling appetisers, and 5 mains we only wanted one thing...dessert! The group was split between banana fritters and this caramel ice cream dish. I choose the caramel. It reminded me of ice cream bars from back home. Perfection. The bill was also served with some orange chocolates. Bonus! Although I don't have pics of the food, please believe me when I say it was wonderful! I think it was pricey, but there were 5 of us, and everyone was drinking but me But it was worth it. I think I found my new favourite Cantonese :)

The christmas before last me and my boyfriend decided to go there as a treat. They changed the normal menu to a set menu (which was a shame but understandable because of being extra busy at christmas). The service was nice and quick, our waiter couldnt speak or understand much english but was friendly enough. But the food was disgusting. Considering I had the choice of 4 dishes I couldnt believe there wasnt a single one I enjoyed!! One was too salty, I meansure, season itbut it was as though I just put a table spoon of salt in my mouth - I couldnt taste anyhing BUT salt! The beef dish tasted nice but the meat was such poor quality, it was all stringy and it took me ages to chew through it enough to swallow. It was rank. The veggy dish was okay, but how can you screw up on veg? Luckily my boyfriend wasnt too keen on sweet and sour and that was my favourite - so I decided I'd make up for not eating any of the other dishes by eating all of the sweet & sour chicken. First few mouthfulls were good But then disaster! All the chicken was bite sized and battered, I didnt want to make a scene but the small piece of chicken I'd just put in my mouth turned out not to be chicken at all. If it just had a bit of a chewy bit or a bit of bone then fine I would have pretended it was fine just so I didnt make a scene but it was basically a battered knuckle! It made me feel sick, I hated everything about the meal, and to top it off its actually quite an expensive place! I hated the whole entire meal. The only thing that was actually enjoyable was the tea at the end. But the rest was disgusting. We did go back once again about a year later with his family. It was ok that time (meaning I didnt have to spit a piece of gristle the size of a knuckle into my rice bowl!) but really, its over priced and nothing at all special. Ive had tastier take aways. If I experienced the same today I would refuse to pay and have a good complain about the quality - unfortunatley I was shy and quiet back then and too scared to complain and ruin what was supposed to be a good night.

I have heard that they change the menus for christmas, on having a look it seems most of the dishes on the christmas menu are turkey - which i've never had from a chinese before!
