No pipe organs here - the sacred music is guitar and vocals. It's fun to sing along or just tap your feet to the talented church band. Pastor Marc is a gem too. His sermons are uplifting and he's a great guy to chat with before and after the service. This church reaches out to midtown adults that want to enjoy a friendly and open worship experience. Come join us, service is at 10:30AM every Sunday.

I like City Life, because the community there is built to welcome people whether they are including lifelong believers, those mired in doubt or even those who are feeling hurt and/or openly hostile towards the church. Wherever you are at, this place welcomes you without sacrificing orthodox theology. There is a real commitment to understanding and living in grace. I also really love their current meeting place which is sublet from Sol Collective, a great community arts non-profit.

It features stations by Andre Girard (who also painted on the windows in lieu of stained glass)and a mosaic & baldachin by Louisa Jenkins. Miraculously, the Diocese of San Jose didn't rip everything out and turn it into an auditorium in the mid-20th century, but in 1998 the building was sold in order to finance a new Campus Ministry parish at Stanford. The Luce Foundation purchased it, leasing it to the goofball Thomas Merton Center, who wanted to purchase it but--Deo gratias--couldn't afford to. In 2003, the chapel was sold to the Anglican Province of Christ the King, a traditionalist Anglo-Catholic jurisdiction. St Ann Chapel is again a place where the orthodox faith of the Church Fathers is proclaimed, and the holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered. Mysterious ways, indeed.

Excellent preaching and beautiful music from a professional choir. Anglo-Catholic worship (unaccompanied by social progressiveness) is hard to find in the Bay area, so St. Ann Chapel, as a parish of the Anglican Province of Christ the King, is a true blessing for the many bewildered that have fallen away from the Episcopal Church because of its steady move away from orthodox worship and values.
