That was until I discovered this shop. LTS solves all your tall-related clothes problems. They have a huge selection, ranging from trousers, to pyjamas (gone are the days of cold ankles!), even shoes for those with 'banana' feet, like myself. Amazing. Their website has even more selection, however, instore they do their best to accommodate you, and can order items for you, which is decent. Slightly more expensive that other high street stores, a lot of stuff is best left to be bought in the sales, which happen every other month. Good for the tall, however, it's more function over fashion, and aimed at those slightly older than myself. Great for tall basics though! I might stick to Topshop for other fashionable items though... sorry LTS, I'll come back in a few years though. Promise.

With regards to price it is not cheaper than heading into a shop in Glasgow but it is handy to have a local store where you pick up a nice handbag if needed.

There is quite a good selection of shoes and underware. There always seems to be some underware on sale whether it is in your size or not is another qustion. This store does not seem to have too many problems with queues apart from sales just after Christmas where it was stretching up at least half the length of the shop. The stock is standard from jeans, shirts, dresses, tops, jumpers etc.

Zara does some fantastic tailoring which has a quirky twist to it and the colour palette is often quite muted with the likes of beigh, khaki, black, grey etc which I like because Zara clothes make a great base on which to build an outfit. I had been searching for the perfect mac for yeeeears and finally found it in Zara this week. It was £70 and I will wear it for years to come as it is very classic looking and will never go out of fashion. In fact it makes me feel like a sexy female spy during WW2! Or inspector gadget! One bug bare with Zara is that the clothes are sized as xs/s/m/l/xl and it is a bit of a pain trying to work out which size you are. I finally realised that I am an extra small (which I really shouldn't have been surprised about as I am a midget) but some of Zara's clothes stop at a small for some bizare reason. I've heard a lot of complaints about the length of Zara's trousers and jeans but a little known Zara fact is that they will tailor any of your purchases for free! Zara is a Spanish company and in Europe women don't think twice about getting all their clothes tailored to fit them perfectly. Zara have brought this ethos over to the UK and thus purposly make their trousers quite long to accomodate tall statuesque types but can also alter them for free for munchkin types like myself.

A few years ago Zara was one of my favourite shops, I bought pretty much everything out of here but I've recently grown out of it for some reason, I guess my style has just changed. I have a few really cosy knitted jumpers from here that have lasted a good few years and only cost around £20. I have to admit, many of clothes at Zara are great value for money and you can get quirky tees for as little as £6. They have really pretty dresses and tailored jackets too which are always a little bit different to most shops on the high street but they are rather expensive and some of their shoes can be over £100 and I don't really think they're anything special. I like the fact that Zara has their own range of perfumes and cosmetics, their lip gloss is particularly good and only £1.95 a pop! I guess, if you're looking for a new outfit then Zara is a good shout and you'll more often than not come away with something pretty. This is probably one of the best Zara stores around Glasgow as it is huge and they often have a sale section too so you could snap up a bargain.

The sandstone building itself is gorgeous and inside the store you will find a selection of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and accessories. Of course Ralph Lauren is expensive but the clothes are so timeless and so well made that if you do decide to indulge in something it will last you for years. I really like the Ralph Lauren menswear in this store. The tailoring just looks fantastic on a well built man and I prefer the quirky yet classic style of Ralph Lauren menswear to other menswear designers who I find a little boring, such as Hugo Boss. The kids clothes are adorable, very cute and preppy. Although if you spent this much money on your little monkeys clothes then you are mental because they will just ruin them! I could swoon over the woman's collections all day but as I can't afford them I am not going to wind myself up! The only thing I can afford from this store is the perfume. I love Ralph Lauren's "Pure Turquoise" for women which has notes of lily and amber and is very fresh and summery. If you want to buy into the Ralph Lauren brand but can't afford the collections in this store you can always pop along to House of Fraser's where they sell the ladies Ralph Lauren diffusion line called Lauren. It is the same preppy, classic style at a fraction of the price!

Evans is a shop selling women's plus sizes, so I usually am in here with my family rather for myself (though sometime soon I will probably develop more curves since I eat like a horse - and that ain't ever gonna stop). They have some gorgeous dresses and long tops which hug curves in all the right places. It's all very contemporary, affordable high street stuff. Unfortunately my mum threw a temper tantrum last time I was in here - she said that nothing suited her! Which was rubbish, since she left with a gorgeous dress in the sale and some swanky new undies. I like the clothing in here, and they have some rocking accessories. Very pretty stock that accentuates the voluptuous body of curvy vamps everywhere (and that is a body shape which should be celebrated much more in the media). With friendly staff that were really helpful to my mum as she stomped around in a tizzy, I was impressed by all.

I have a fantastic pair of extra wide calf fitting boots and they are still going strong after about 4 years. The footwear is all wide fitting which sometimes means I have to size down. The boots range is always excellent and some of the prices are very reasonable, but even at that I now really struggle to find boots in there which fit on the calf as they seem to have stopped doing the extra wide calf fittings. I am disappointed by this decision as this is problem so many women (big or small) suffer from. The clothing starts at size 14 and goes up to size 32, so for some larger ladies this store is a godsend. I find some of the designs really spot on but having said that a lot of their stuff is quite frumpy and overpriced for what it is. There are not enough on-trend items to tempt me to buy the clothes but I realise not everyone who shops in Evans is in the position of looking elsewhere. I think this is a missed opportunity as the plus size market is growing, and I hope Evans take this on board.
