The New Mersey Shopping Park located in Speke (not far from John Lennon Airport) is a massive…read moreretail park boasting up to 40 upscale stores of different varieties such as Boots, M&S, B&Q and HMV therefore there is a shop to suit everyone. In addition, there are a couple of common places to eat like McDonald's and Pizza Hut, yet I do feel there could be a little more restaurants considering the size of the area. Nevertheless, it makes a great day out because you can easily spend hours browsing each store as you walk around from one end to the other. The retail park has a bright and modern feel to it. No surprise it is so popular with visitors, with a huge car park to accommodate.

The answer is simple: encourage them and their friends to start their own band! Not only is it cheaper than going swimming, paint-balling or double bills at the movies, it's also more fun. You don't need to spend a fortune on instruments either. Right now, the Early Learning Centre has kazoos, maracas, jingle bells, flutes, wrist bells, triangles and glockenspiels from £2-£6. They also have acoustic guitars for £20, mini-drums for around £10 and xylopianos with multi-coloured keys for £15. My only tip is - hide the cymbals or suffer serious ear-ache!

It is an excellent store, very bright, airy, well organised and tidy. They have a huge range of make up on sale with stands dedicated to brands such as Bourgois, Rimmel, Max Factor and many others. They also have a large range of perfumes and ladies who work in this area who are happy to help and provide testers for you. They also have a large range of the usual products like shampoo, conditioner, hair dye, skin care, shower gels and travel items. The sell all the usual brands but also have an excellent range of Boots own brand items which are inexpensive and of a very high quality. There are often offers of either discounted products or for multibuys which can work out very well. There is a pharmacy within the store and this area has a large selection of medication, first aid supplies, alternative remedies and much more. The pharmacy staff are clearly very well trained in their jobs and are very helpful. There is also a large area of the store dedicated to baby and children's wear. The items on sale here are of a very high quality. You can get every sort of item here from a bib to a party dress. The prices are very reasonable considering that the quality is so good. The staff at Boots are very helpful. They are happy to show you where to find items and they are also able to give advice on the goods sold here. The staff at the till are also very friendly. The opening times have been very useful for me in the past when I have had a hair dying mishap. I've had to send a friend out to the store to buy something to rescue my hair!!

They have been in business over 52 years and recently moved to new premises from where they ship their cartons all over the UK. They can also supply recycled cartons and pallet boxes as well as sending their waste to be recycled at a plant in Oswestry who in turn send it back to the paper mills. I imagine most of their work is business to business but you never know when you are going to need 25 custom designed cardboard boxes. I checked these guys out when looking for double thick boxes for moving house but I found some free banana boxes from Morrison's.

You've got to love Firetrap clothing. The amount of unique little bits and bobs I've managed to…read morepick up from there over the years at the stores and sample sales is truly staggering. This is a great example. You can get everything here from simple vests and shorts to really quirky patterned dresses in unusual styles and super little jackets. The accessories are also supreme. Firetrap do some amazing shoes, for both men and women, and even some tasty scarves and the odd bit of jewellery as well as wallets. If you're at the more unusual end of the fashion spectrum and like to wear stuff that's slightly out there and outlandish, it's a great place to begin. The fits are very flattering and I find the fastenings tend to be designed for ease, with a lot of poppers being utilised. This store is a great addition to the chain and its location in the Met Quarter feels very high profile - not the cheapest shopping expedition, I'll agree, but the sales here are truly spectacular.
