I LOVE NEW LOVE CITY! I signed up for the 2 week unlimited before even attending a class, which was a huge risk- but I'm so happy I did. I'm so glad this place is on ClassPass. I've been exploring a lot of new studios since I've had ClassPass, and by far, New Love City definitely tops my list. The space is chic and clean. Not far from the subway. The teachers are super nice and friendly. They have a cute studio space with complimentary mats and bricks. And it smells amazing (the worst when a studio smells like sweaty feet...). As for the class itself, I can't praise it enough. I took a 7:30pm Vinyasa class. The class flowed absolutely perfectly. I felt challenged but not pushed. I definitely was not bored as the teacher switched up the routine I'm use to and even threw in a couple challenging poses. I've been doing yoga for over 6 years and never experienced so much balance. Definitely worth a trip out to Greenpoint. (luckily for me, it's on my way home from work). It's not that easy finding this studio (has no outside sinage) but it's right next to Paulie Gee's. Two doors up to be exact. On the buzzer they're number 4 and labels NLC. They're on the 4th fl. "Did I just step inside an Anthropologie catalogue?!" Was my initial thought coming here. This studio is drop dead gorgeous and cozy. Staff is very welcoming and warm. Think original wood flooring and beautiful, modern light fixtures. I came here via classpass for their vinyasa class. Their vinyasa class was amazing and challenging! I did so many poses that I haven't learned until today. Now they don't label the difficulty of their classes but I would say the class I took was DEF not for complete neophytes to yoga. There is a fair amount of one legged chaturangas and opportunities for tripod poses. I wish I lived closer I would love to have NLC as my primary yoga studio. read more

I've taken the weekday 8:30 AM classes with Emily and Jen. I was fairly new to yoga when I started, so there was a bit of a learning curve. However, after 5 classes, I feel super comfortable with the flow. The sequences are creative and the playlist is poppin'. I would recommend this class to folks looking to sweat and move during their practice. Manduka mats, blocks, blankets, and towels are provided with the class. The mats feel clean and not stinky like at other studios. There are Aesop soaps in the bathroom which are such a treat! This place rocks and I love the vibe. I've been going to New Love City since it opened this summer, and I've really enjoyed every class I've taken. The music is amazing, the space is so beautiful and calming, and my absolutely favorite thing is how hands-on the teachers are. I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. But the thing that spurred me to write this review today is the one-on-one lesson I had with Jen this morning! Nobody made it out to the 8am class today after the blizzard except for me. (Can't blame 'em - I just happen to live right around the corner!) I was very nervous to be alone with Jen since I'm not very advanced in my practice. Jen was so attentive, patient and helpful. She made adjustments throughout the practice and helped me work on my basics. She helped me lengthen and adjust my back and posture, especially after some headstands, which felt so incredible. I can't believe I was nervous - this was the best hour of yoga I've ever done! It was such a treat. Not only did I feel like I was really creating the right shape for each asana (with Jen's assistance), I felt truly calm and focused upon leaving. After a weekend trapped in my apartment with the blizzard, I really needed it. Even if you don't end up getting a surprise private lesson, you will love New Love City! It's a great workout that gets the blood flowing and is one of my favorite ways to start the day. Thank you so much for making me feel so at ease, Jen! read more

Be prepared! Guard your heart because you're going to fall in love with this place. Yeah, I'll be honest. I've only done yoga once (that is after yesterday's session at new love city with Jenn). Being a relatively flexible/fit guy (on a male scale) and horribly inflexible (on a yogi?! scale) I was nervous walking in. I mean.. The place is beautiful and spotless, something that I'm not that used to in my day to day surrounding. I guess this is also the opportunity to reveal the time i spent admiring the bathroom set up and all the boutique products that were immaculate. Ok, enough with my fascination of the studio. As soon as I walked in, jenn walked me through the session and advised me to sit at the center of the classroom to observe and follow others throughout the session (excellence no. 1). She paced the whole class so well (excellence no. 2) while maintaining individual attention to every one of the students (excellence no. 3). The playlist was a good mix of upbeat and calming tunes (excellence no. 4). I felt no shame being the only person sweating like a dog in class (excellence no. 5) Well looks like this is the extent of the review I can write as a beginner, but oh man!! I live in Long Island city but I think I'll bike my way through Pulaski bridge to visit once again 'cause I felt like I was a different person stepping out of the studio. I've recently become a regular at NLC. I've enjoyed both the co-working and yoga. I LOVE the vibe (furniture, music, lots of beautiful light) and the kind, incredible staff. I find I'm able to get a lot of writing done here. I've taken classes with the owner, Jen. She's an amazing instructor: very high energy, extremely encouraging, and GREAT flow. I've been doing ClassPass for over two months, and in the process, I've gone to a lot of different yoga studios all over the city. And New Love City is ABSOLUTELY the best of all of them! I've only taken the 8:30AM class with Emily, but it's my favorite yoga class that I've ever taken. It's the perfect mix of relaxation and a workout, which is a balance that a lot of other studios do not achieve nearly as well. The music during class is fantastic and unique, and it really makes the time fly by! The sequences are different from most other studios, which keeps it from getting too repetitive - I'm never bored. My favorite part of it is that Emily really pushes you to do things you didn't know you can do. She repeats poses a few times so that you can explore & go deeper into it. They provide mats & towels, and the mats are top quality. The studio is so beautiful with a lot of natural light and clean white decor. It's been the perfect temperature both times I've been there. The class size is generally pretty small, which allows for a lot of individual attention. It seems like they do a lot of cool events based on their newsletter, and although I haven't had the chance to attend one yet, I really hope to in the future! read more

I took a class here for the first time on Sunday and loved it. Jen was great - not only did she have a fab playlist, but she led a great flow and was helpful in adjustments and helping us get the most out of each pose. I personally also liked the overall vibe of the studio and Jen herself. You feel like you're practicing in someone's apartment - mats and towels, and water are provided. I'm addicted to this space. The light, the decor, the music, the overall vibe, EVERYTHING! I co-work here and regularly take classes. It's the all-in-one package of good mind and good body. The instructors are vibrant, and knowledgable and after every class I say to myself that it was the best class I've ever had. It's the type of yoga that energizes you and brings joy. It's challenging, playful, grounded, and current. New Love City is beautiful, tranquil with white washed walls, 100 year old oak doors and sky lights that make you feel as if you are practicing outdoors. NLC will fill you with love and power. The vinyasa flow classes are challenging and open to all levels. Each teacher brings their own style and personality but all share the same passion. You will want to come early and stay late. mats and towels provided. From the moment the class starts with Jens meditative words you are transported. The Vinyasa flow is a series of building blocks taking you just to where you need to be in your practice. Jens classes are empowering, fierce and yet filled with compassion. I recently had to move back home to LA from NY, and the only thing I actually miss daily is New Love City. I have yet to find a studio that lives up to the bar set by those lovely ladies on Greenpoint Ave! The hardest thing to find in most yoga studios is the proper vibe and New Love City nailed it every time. The instructors are spectacular, the studio itself is warming and quaint. There were a lot of good decisions that went into creating New Love City. The great thing about yoga is that it helps your mind and body at the same time. Classes at NLC strike an ideal balance between a strong sweaty workout for the body without sacrificing the beautiful sense of peace and happiness yoga makes in the mind. The teachers here consistently bring their warm and inspired energy into class for sequenses that feel uplifting and invigorating. The studio caters to all of the senses, perfect temperature, lighting, tunes etc. Complementary mats, towels and shower make the whole experience that much more delux. I adore this studio! The space is beautiful -- really pretty and calming and minimal -- and the little bonus amenities like a nice bathroom and SUPER good mats are a major bonus. What really makes it is the instructors, though. I follow some of these teachers around the city, so having them come up to GP *and* be in a space that's sweeter than most is a total win. I can't imagine a more perfect place to lay down my mat. Inspiring teachers, incredible music, and an amazing vibe. I LOVE this place. Being in a pretty yoga studio is so important to me. When a space is beautiful, like New Love City's, it makes my practice feel sacred. You can tell the studio was lovingly created; it's just gorgeous. Natural sunlight pours in from the skylights overhead and bounces off the ethereal white walls, creating an open, airy vibe. This studio is warm and welcoming, just like the instructors. I'm really excited that I have finally found a place where the mood is playful and light with classes that are challenging yet accessible. This a wonderful place to practice yoga! The space is welcoming and beautiful, with a ton of natural light from multiple skylights. It's a place you could see yourself staying for hours, not just an hour-long yoga class. I am a runner who has only in the past year or so started using yoga to get stronger and prevent injury. Jen's classes are great for someone like me - energetic and challenging while gently guiding us towards how we can improv our practice. I've also taken classes with Emily for a long time, she is a truely inspirational and brilliant teacher! This place is wonderful. First of all, I want to live in here- it is beautiful. The mats are the best. I have taken 4 different instructors and I have loved them all. I usually take the hour long class, but I took a workshop here and it was hands on and really informative. Each instructor really tailors class to the types of patrons taking the class. If someone complains about being tight, we stretch a little more. If everyone seems advanced, we try some more daring moves. I love that! Music is great too.
