The church has a revolving door of membership. The pastor had been confronted (at one time) about flirting and inappropriate gestures towards some of the more attractive women in the church. They seem to be more concerned about driving membership and weekly income than they do teaching scripture. Too liberal for my liking. read more

We have been members of this church for close to ten years. I don't know where Paul C. got his ideas about revolving membership and a flirting pastor, but he is way off base. New Hanover has a relatively new Worship Leader and the music program is fantastic. There are a lot of totally committed people here and the impact on the community has been wonderful. The preaching is totally about the need for salvation thru the death of Christ on the cross for our sins, and that is what a church should be all about, in the end. read more

Very good bible teaching Methodist church, family friendly church with great staff and good ministry and fellowship events

My observations about this church is that it is not made up of genuine Christ followers. The preaching was very "fluffy" and void of any real theology. However, I must say that it got better when the old pastor left. They never did a "real" alter call. Under the new pastor, however, they started to do a quasi alter call. I also found it to be filled with several cliques. I had been involved in a couple of small groups while attending there. What was disheartening to me was my experience in one particular small group. Firstly, the church allowed videos to be shown that directly contradicted the Word of God and basic Biblical doctrine. Secondly, while attending said small group, several of us shared life events that were experiencing at the time. For example, one person had major surgery and several of us chipped in to deliver meals, prayer and other support to this person. I, too, happened to be going through a major life event during this small group which I had shared with everyone. However, at no time during or after my life event (except 1 person as explained below) did anyone from that small group acknowledge the life event. Not that I had any expectations really because I did not really think about it at the time. However, in one of the Sunday morning bulletins I had read a story of a 1st time church visitor who was days away from having a baby. Apparently, she had several meals delivered to her after the baby was born, etc. during this time and she had only visited the church once. That's when I thought: Wow, there were like 10 or 12 other people in my group and not one delivered a meal. One person from the group did visit me and gave me a gift, of which I was very grateful, but none of the others bothered to send a card, an email, deliver a meal or even acknowledge the event. I thought that's what these small groups were about -- building Godly relationships and caring and praying for one another. I guess you have to be a part of a clique to get this special treatment. read more

My first visit to the church today. Impressed beyond words. I had been searching for a place that feels "like home". The music was magical. The sermon was beautifully spoken. I may have just found the place where my soul can enjoy the worship of Jesus and God. read more
