The food and service are excellent at New Wild Ginger in Huntingdon Valley. We love this restaurant, we have had 2 family birthday dinners here for groups of 7-10 this year. The staff is personal and accomodating to our party. The decor is pleasant and relaxing. I am vegetarian and there are lots of yummy options. Our family loves the appetizers and soups, especially the seaweed salad and dumplings, shrimp rolls, hot and sour and miso soups . My hubby has taken his mom here for lunch, and finds the options great. He often enjoys sushi roll lunch special. So many loves for dinner including eggplant, tofu green curry, massaman shrimp curry, and so so many others. Cant wait for our next gathering here. read more

This is the LAST time we will be ordering from New Wild Ginger. Before the pandemic I would literally beg to go here but it's obvious they don't care about their customers, which is uncalled for since my family spends $100+ dollars everytime. The first weekend of the pandemic we called around 6pm for takeout and were rudely turned away because they were too busy. Understandable at first given the unforeseen statewide shutdown. We called the next weekend around the same time and were able to order, however were told they were completely out of tempura (once again overlooked, were all new to this), and was given a wait time of one hour. Was told when I got there to pickup the food that it'll be another 30mins. Tonight we called again for takeout (at 5pm) and was told no more tempura, no more sushi, and not to expect it. I asked a family member what they want instead of their sushi, and was told over the phone to "hurry up". I couldn't believe it. The real kicker is that we were told 45 mins. When we went to pick it up , they kept stalling, and saying "another 15mins". WE DIDNT EAT TIL 7:30! If you're too busy PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING turn people away! Figured I'd give them another shot since we haven't ordered from there in a while. I ordered the spicy roll combo last night. Looked great! Ate it and...less than an hour later, became violently ill. Absolutely never again. Way too expensive of a place to get sick from bad sushi . It's funny to me that other reviews state that you shouldn't be upset that the sushi here is terrible ... if they serve a food, it should be fresh and not make us ill. So disappointed. We ate here last in 2019 and everything was so fresh and flavorful that I was shocked with tonight's takeout dinner. The seaweed salad was really spicy and not fresh at all. Tasted like it was previously frozen. The edamame were over cooked to the point the skins were wrinkly. My husband ordered udon noodle soup and it was decent. We found it a little strange that the broth was in a separate container from the noodles. My Buddha's delight (tofu and vegetables in a special Thai sauce) was completely bland. The tofu was supposed to be fried and it was pale. The broccoli was mushy. And there was barely any sauce. The vegetable mei fun was just plain rice(?) noodles with some shredded cabbage, and it had huge pieces of bland tofu. No flavor to the dish at all. Also, I ordered 2 Spring rolls and wow they are tiny! And $1.25 EACH!! I don't know what happened to this place, but I will not be ordering from them again, or any time soon. $50 down the drain. You can tell how subpar their ingredients are. It's also strange that restaurants are fully open now, mask mandate is done, and yet this place is still closed for dine in. What a pleasant surprise. We tried it here about 3-4 years ago and it didn't do much for us. I r k my we may of tried the drunken noodles and some Thai type dishes so that is probably where we went wrong. Then we discovered the other Chinese restaurant in the shopping center next door. That was our go to place and really good until Covid. After they shut down for Covid and reopened the food really went downhill. So for the last few years there hasn't been good Chinese nearby. We decided to give New Wild another chance and it was really good. I think if you stick to the Chinese dishes you can't go wrong. We had egg rolls, wonton soup, lo mein and sesame chicken. The egg rolls and wonton were pretty good. The sesame and lo mein were delicious. Would definitely go back for those 2 dishes for sure. As far as Asian cuisine goes in the bucks/Montgomery county area goes this one is pretty good. Service was a little slow though. In a restaurant that wasn't packed we waited a pretty decent time for our meal. The waitress forgot about my husband's request for artificial sweetener. She also appeared confused when bring out our soup. The food itself was fair to good. Nothing super exceptional. My egg drop soup was unsalted and soy sauce helped a ton! The crab Rangoon was absolutely disgusting. There was no crab only cream cheese. It was so nasty I made my husband eat the whole thing! My main dish, sesame chicken dinner box, was fair. The spring roll was good. The white rice was that of an average Asian restaurant. The sesame chicken was crisp, yet had some weird spice in the sauce. Wild Ginger sits in the corner of an aging shopping center (Justa Farm) and is easy to miss as County Line Road goes on and on with numbers that don't make sense. It is much bigger inside than it looks and always seems too empty, considering the huge menu that is able to accommodate any kind of diet. But we haven't gone there on the weekends. All of the vegetarian items are vegan, and there are quite a few appetizers and entrees. It is nice to see such balance on a menu. No MSG either. A beautiful fish tank greets you when you enter, and the fish will come over to you if you put your face close to the tank (of course you know not to tap on the tank). Try to sit on the cozy banquette in the middle of the room, against the fountain and under the tiny neon lights. We had scallion pancakes and some hot and sour soup. There is a large vegetarian section with vegmeats, which to me are a treat, especially seitan. I got the Forever Young ($12 and quit snickering), which was like an Asian hoagie, a crispy pancake wrapped around green beans and veggie ham with lots of steamed broccoli on the plate. He had the Mango Duck ($14) which was just ok, but being able to choose brown rice is a plus. We took much of the food home. It was a mistake to order a fried appetizer as well as a fried entree (did not realize the pancake was deep fried for some reason). Our entire meal was $34 before tip, so it's very affordable, and as other reviewers mentioned, BYOB. For some reason, it wasn't as good as the first time I ate here, and I cannot really determine why, maybe the lack of wine, haha, but we were already a bit intoxicated from a beautiful day. I would still go back because of the diverse menu and low prices and would just not overdo the fried stuff. Wild Ginger certainly does a brisk takeout business and is open 7 days a week. read more

The outside of Natural Village looks like a regular Chinese restaurant and the interior also does (the dining room is elegant, for a suburban Chinese restaurant) - on their plates, it's a different story. You can order traditional Chinese cuisine as well as vegetarian entrees - in fact, there are over 50 vegan selections on the menu! We ordered a variety of vegan selections and I recall the gluten sweet pork was unusual - it looked like pork, smelled like sweet pork, but tasted like a chicken-tofu hybrid with some consistency. Wild Ginger is my go to neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They have very good vegetarian dishes, particularly the General Tso's Tofu and spicy Tofu Hunan Style. Hot and Sour soup is also an excellent vegetarian dish. Besides Chinese cuisine, they have a busy sushi chef. Although it isn't the most creative sushi I've ever had, it's solid and definitely hits the spot when I crave sushi, but don't have time to go to Morimoto. The only complaint is slow service on Christmas. But it's understandable since there is a line out the door for the only place open on the holiday. read more

If you're Vegetarian they have a great selection. Im a huge fan of Tom-Yum and Wild Ginger's is good, spicy but not as tasty as Tien Thai Pho but Wild Ginger has an amazing imitation / non-poultry . They have very good pan fried veggie dumplings. I'd definitely recommend them. I uploaded an image of the Tom-Yum and Veggie Dumplings. I also want to say thank you to Wild Ginger for the low riding urinal. If any other restaurant owners read this please! please! get a low-riding urinal. there is nothing worse then going into a bathroom and knowing that you have to either lift the seat and hold your breath for what you may see under it or precisely aim and hope not to hit the seat and then you have to clean the seat. I don't know why it took me so long to come to this restaurant, which has officially become my favorite Chinese and Sushi spot! First off, They're OPEN on Sundays!! When we first arrived, we were a little weary about staying because the restaurant was completely empty. But the hostess/server told us that it was due to most of the surrounding businesses closing on Sundays, that they saw little business on Sundays. I'm SO glad we stayed. The decor was really pretty. As a vegetarian/semi-vegan, finding good, substantive food can be a challenge. Let me just say that they have a HUGE selection of meat free Chinese, Japanese, and Thai options, including faux meat (seitan). We split the vegan chicken dumplings, and I had the vegetable roll combo, which came with miso soup, and a salad with a red curry dressing. Everything was delicious and fresh! I can't find anything negative to say about either the food or the service. The people working there were so nice, and made it seemed like they really wanted us to be there. First, the woman at the front door didn't greet me when I approached the window nor thank me when I paid which was surprising and was a sign of things to come. Not worth the tip I had included! Tonight we ordered take-out with home delivery. We have avoided this restaurant because they seem to put broccoli in everything. But our daughter persuaded us to give them another try. We ordered Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Black Bean Shrimp, and General Tso's Chicken. We prepaid a 21% tip for the delivery person. THE GOOD NEWS? It didn't take the full hour we were quoted for the food to arrive. THE BAD NEWS? There was no eggplant. They charged us for and sent us broccoli in garlic sauce. The General Tso's Chicken also had broccoli as its second component. We called the restaurant to inform them the wrong dish was sent. We were told, very abruptly and rudely, that that is what "was ordered from the kitchen." I had gone over the order at least twice with the person who took the order. "Broccoli" sounds nothing like "eggplant," even if you are not a native speaker of English. My husband asked the manager what happened, and his question was not answered. The manager who handled the call said they would give us 15% off on our next order (we did not request or want this; a full refund of the charge for the broccoli would have been more appropriate). After telling my husband what they would do, and not answering his reasonable and calmly-stated question, the manager hung up on him. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU **LOVE** BROCCOLI. I HAD to rate this place a one star. If I could have rated "zero" stars I would have. I live nearby and saw some great reviews so I decided to try their takeout. My girlfriend and I spent $45 on their Phoenix & Dragon Fly Together (entree) , Sizzling Seafood Combination (entree) , Shrimp Tempura (app) and Fried Dumplings (app) . First, the Phoenix & Dragon. Description says "Two dishes in one. Tangy shrimp and General Tso's chicken." Well, there was litterally ONE small shrimp and the rest chicken. Wow. I would not call one piece of shrimp it's own dish. I do have to say the ONLY thing I liked was how large and juicy the chicken was. Second, the Sizzling Seafood Combination. Description says "Shrimp, scallops, lobster tail, w/ garden vegetables." Were do I begin... There was 4 pieces of shrimp, 4 pieces of small thin scallops, and the lobster tail.... Let's just say more like a crawfish tail. Yes, I know, this is a Chinese/Japanese/Tai place but come on. This meal was was basically all vegetables! Third, we ordered fried rice with BOTH meals and they gave us BROWN rice for both. Last but not least, I called back immediately after noticing the food and I was told by the guy answering the phone, "It is what it is. What you get is what you get" and then proceeded to laugh over the phone!! That was it. I hung up and just HAD to write this review immediately. So all in all.. As a vegan, Wild Ginger is my go-to place whenever I am in town. I usually call in an order when I'm leaving the airport and pick it up before I get to my family's house. I love the vegan general Tso chicken. Even my family, who are not at all vegan, have happily enjoyed it with me on occasion. My husband usually orders the Golden Pond, which is crispy seitan (wheat protein) in spicy sweet and sour sauce. The prices are moderate, but you get a ton of food. It's still awesome here--possibly even better. The staff is different and completely welcoming and attentive. The sushi chef is always welcoming us back and recognizing us as good repeat customers. He's been giving us complimentary salads the last few times we've gone and coupons that don't expire. These little things really make a difference to us.
