The staff are extremely professional and helpful, and there are a lot of great programs for young learners who want to explore the world of books. In terms of facilities, there's not much to say. There are only four computers, and the selection of books is not that broad. That said, they do offer a lot of services for the community, although I would recommend against utilizing the preparation services they offer during tax season, even if you're a cheapo. Overall, it's a worthy local library, even if nothing stands out in particular. I've spent many hours of enjoyment and research there.

The NYPL isn't just loaded with books they have CD's, DVD's, magazines, newspapers, copiers, computers, and most importantly printers for when you run out of ink at home (happened to me countless times). I think what sets these locations apart is the size of the library, how quiet it actually is, whether or not its clean, and how dated its become keeping in mind that these places are publicly funded and change is hard to come by. I find this location to be pretty clean, quiet, but it is sort of dated. The building looks like it was influenced by some sort of 80's architecture. All in all this a good library but certainly not the NYPL's gem. I'd suggest this place and look forward to more reads!

There are also a lot of small couches that can fit 2 people each with tables at each one. This library is extremely quiet and extremely clean, even the bathrooms are very clean. I feel safe there as well because they have a security guard who sits by the front door of the library and occasionally walks around the library. The staff is very nice as well. I've also had great experiences picking up a book from the holding area section. There is also a huge parking lot which is convenient. Many Staten Island libraries do not have parking lots due to the location. I really love this library and will definitely be returning to study.

They also have music and movies too which is pretty cool if you're looking for a cheap (free) way to expand your music collection. One thing that is nice about this location compared to others is that this library is actually really quiet and is kept that way unlike other locations which tend to be more of a hangout. This location seems to be clean but is dated and needs a facelift which a problem with most NYPL locations. There isn't much more to add. I will continue to use this location and suggest you do too!

I also love the modern architecture and how the S51 and the Capodanno Boulevard express buses have stops just a few steps away. My interests are diverse, so I always find something when I go no matter what. Lately, though, I've been requesting books that need to be sent from other branches. I get an email from NYPL.org when the books arrive, and it's a pleasant, five-minute walk down Robin Road to pick them up. Right across the street is a tiny triangle park, and the beach is another two or three short blocks past that. Recently the deli re-opened. On a nice day this would be a great place to come with kids or friends (or both!), take out some books, get lunch or a snack, and go sit on the boardwalk or in one of the playgrounds that line it.

OTOH, it is more often than not filled with insufferably loud, obnoxious teenagers and adolescents. I love the idea of kids pursuing knowledge, but too often it's used as a pretext to turn a building utilized by many others for its intended purpose into a teen hangout. It's worth visiting if you're in Stapleton, but be warned. Don't go there for an hour of quiet contemplation and study. At least, not after 2 PM on a weekday.

I got to know all the old library workers and they treated us like family (there were a few who were nasty, but every place has one of those). I loved it there. It was like a second home. When it closed down for 'renovation', I was crushed. I didn't think it would ever open back up again, but just a few years back, I noticed they fixed it up and hired an entire new crew. I have to say, though I loved the old time-y, rustic feel of the original library, the new version isn't all that bad. It even comes complete with some really nice librarians. Well worth the visit.
