Well, I got pretty whacked out when the check-in lady asked if I had the bill of sale. I said that I did, but not with me. The title proved ownership. She said, "Well, see what they say." After a somewhat lengthy wait until my ticket number was called, I was assisted by a charming, friendly young lady who processed my plates with great efficiency. I was perturbed that my title was taken, but a new NY one will be mailed to me in 6-8 weeks. Sigh. They were printed out right at the Lone Tree DMV. While this process was slightly more complicated than in Colorado, and also backwards to me--registration first, then inspection--it all went smoothly. I definitely prefer Medford to Riverhead, which was noisy, chaotic, and filled with people. This DMV is quite peaceful in comparison. Will be returning for all my DMV needs. read more

I went to the Meford location and spoke to supervisor Susan! This was a terrible experience. I have all the paperwork I need to get an enhanced drivers license so I'm able to travel on domestic flight. The rep said the social security name since I'm Catholic reads Luis Roberto Cruz 1st. My driver license reads "Luis Roberto Cruz" without the number 1. Susan the supervisor said she would call since last Friday and see if they would accept it and the outcome. I travel from Queens 64 miles away and I drove there again today which is May 2nd 2025 and didn't even receive a call back like expected!!! I had to drive all the way there to get Susan and find out that Albany still hasn't gotten back to her!!!! This is truly unacceptable and as a professional I would like a call back asap!!!! This is no way to treat your customers especially at a critical time like this when everyone is busy etc. I need answers read more

So my daughter needed an up grade to a class D license from a junior license went to DMV back in July and the paperwork was put in incorrectly. She was sent the wrong license contacted DMV through the website twice was resent the wrong license two more times then told that she had to go to the DMV in person to have this issue corrected. We were thought we were seen window four to have her picture retaken which was unnecessary. They needed to pull the paper from Albany then was seen at window 19 both representatives at the DMV as far as the person at window four and 19 were amazing. The issue did not occur until we had to deal with the supervisor, because the employees could not get the task taken care of without the help of the supervisor. supervisor extremely acted very much so entitled and on a Power Trip behind the counter, had no consideration for the amount of time that had been spent at the DMV lied about how long the process would take and then got belligerent and rude, and a very condescending tone. When asked how much longer the process would take receiving that was already, an hour of my time just to find out that the supervisor had only submitted the paperwork necessary 20 minutes prior to me approaching the counter after we had been already waiting for an hour. My daughter had to return to school because she is in youth and government and they meet until 8 PM telling the supervisor this information got nowhere except for more of an attitude having to deal with the supervisor at the DMV to provide information that only there and would have was an issue had to request to speak to another supervisor while the supervisor I was dealing with stood in the behind the plastic barrier speaking negatively about myself and my daughter where we could hear not really sure why the people that work at the DMV in Medford feels so entitled and are rude. It kind of reminded me of going to visit an inmate in prison and when you go to check in to visit the inmate, the police officers treat you like you are a criminal as well , just like the inmates, very rude condescending and clearly on a power trip. The supervisor refused to provide her name and dealing with a second supervisor tried to put me in line rather than check her staff about how they deal with the public shortly after dealing with the supervisor behold that was mysteriously faxed and received from Albany to the Medford Brand within five minutes of me approaching the new supervisor and dealing with the situation supervisor continued to pass the window, making comments, staring people down being extremely rude and not sure why she has a job still when she clearly has an issue dealing with the public must have a very miserable unhappy home life where she has to bring her drama and the sadness of her life into her work environment, where people are just going to get help being included in this yelp clear of her at any time because she carries negative energy and is the pure definition of misery loves company!!! She will waste your valuable time walking around shoving food in her face, while acting like she's doing work.... Watched these actions go on while waiting on paperwork she said would take 10-15 minutes. Why say a time if u don't have a time. The ONLY REASON WE HAD TO RETURN TO THE DMV WAS BC THE EMPLOYEE MADE AN ERROR ON THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK!!! They had no consideration for our time, wasted due to their employee error, which by the way no longer works there I was told by a different supervisor steer clear of the Medford branch if you want any actual productive help go to Riverhead. They're much nicer there and seem to be more thorough with getting the job done. read more

This angel on earth, patience of a saint with a "can & will" do attitude pulled strings to make me feel like less of an idiot. Dante should have included the DMV as one of the Circles of Hell. They say you can make an appointment. I enter the info online and get *nothing* in reply. So off we go! Visit #1, I'm asked to provide a 2nd proof of address despite fulfilling the online checklist requirements. Visit #2, "there is only one line in the computer for proof of residence" so my second proof means squat. I'm given a faux affidavit-like form for someone to sign that states I live at home. Of course anyone can write anything on that for but who cares? Security is not the issue - only fulfilling bureaucratic requirements and collecting fees. Visit #3, pass the general inspection and receive a number. There are 14 people ahead of me by number. After an hour there are 12 people ahead of me. getting processed 2 per hour. It's 2 pm now. Do the math: that's 6 hours until I get called. They close at 4:30. So I left. I've now spent the equivalent of a full day getting jerked around and have NOTHING to show for it except a car that's now out of gas and this review on Yelp. read more

I had an appointment for Friday afternoon and when I went in it was PACKED. They handed me a form to fill out, including a very confusting one regarding proof (I wanted an enhanced license.) My appt was for 2:30 and I got there about 2:15. Although I was told I was NOT in the system (!) I had my email printout with the bar code and the lady took my photo and said the wait would be like 15 minutes. I'm shocked. The DMV really has changed how they handle folks. For a number reasons I've had to visit the DMV. Booking an appointment online certainly saved me time. Even if I had not, the greeters up front do a heck of a job helping you. Bring a pen if you're not sure of the paperwork required. If at all possible, avoid the summer season and try to visit during a holiday period. I was blessed with super duper fast times. Perhaps it was a stroke of luck. Right off the bat as we enter the office , there was this friendly greeter lady that asked how she could help us and guided us which window to go to. Who likes spending there day at the DMV, I will wait till while you raise your hands. But wait, they make it more convenient for you to pay Registration Renewals with the DMV pay machine. You just go right there and pay! Awesome........right? I was third on line so I thought to myself "In and out of the DMV in under 10 minutes, great!" I was so wrong. The lady at the machine could not figure out how to use it, she went at it for 15 minutes. No one had the courage to ask if she needed help, but we waited. Finally she moved on and I thought about clapping because the line was moving. Next lady was quick, the guy I was talking to while we waited was next. What do you think happened.......you have to laugh, the machine stopped working, it broke down! Is this some kind of joke? Why is fate so cruel! I immediately when to a employee to get help and she quickly told me "Just a minute!" She never even came back to help. But I was not going to wait so I jumped to the counter and just blurted out "The machine is down!" The lady got someone to look at it, and guess what she said....."I needed a ticket so I could wait." No way! This had to be karma because that guy and I joked about clapping when the nice old lady left. I gave this place two stars because the staff made no effort to help. I know this must be a difficult job and people sometimes don't understand, but there's still a way people should be treated when they come to visit and pay. read more

A solid 2.5 Stars. No one likes to go to the DMV, it's a total suckfest. My DMV in Vegas had a snack bar. they probably made a billion dollars off of that, and no they didn't have slot machines. I bring this up because Wifey and I have a business idea. A contract with The DMV for a by the minute hair salon or option for a glamor shot style photo. This may be a good option for NY to generate some extra income and could make for an interesting DL photo. There's some good food amongst the strip mall at this DMV and to tell you the truth it's relatively fast and my counter people have been pretty friendly and kinda funny. read more

What can be said about the DMV that is not a stereotype already. Here's my issue of why I'm even writing a review. The DMV now offers online reservations which is awesome and I highly recommend it. I've used it before both here at Medford and the Port Jeff location. When I went to Medford the last time I had my reservation print out and the employee who stands at the front wouldn't let me scan it even though the system was up and running. He pointed me to a line and told me to stand in it and I started the whole long process of waiting. After making some temporary friends while seated they told me that the number I had been given was not a web reservation number and to go back up to the front. So I went back up, where the same man was standing and I explained to him that I had a web reservation and I don't believe he gave me the correct information and I wanted to check in. He AGAIN pointed me to another line and said how if I got in it and waited to talk to someone they would help me out. I knew that this was completely wrong. So I basically waited until he turned his back and then snuck behind him to check in with the web reservation. Oh guess what? I got checked in and my web number got me seen right away while my other number that I was given was still not called. Lesson - the DMV employees don't even know their own rules. read more

Why do we still have DMV offices in 2012? They are entirely staffed by women, except the depressed private security guard that is there for SOME reason. Hint: if you offered friendly service and actually solved problems, you wouldn't have irrate customers who want to assault the staff. Or invest in bank-style bullet proof glass or something. The useless security guard just screams "YOUR TAX DOLLARS HARD AT WASTE!" Also, the people (I use that term loosely) staffing this particular location are the most miserable employees ever. Nothing like being talked to like you're a mongoloid because someone ELSE gave you the wrong form to fill out. It's awesome they have pens for sale for $0.25 too - piss off foundation for the Blind - you're the last people on earth that need pens. I really appreciate how the counter-trolls don't look at you while they're doing WHATEVER IT IS on their computers, or keep you informed about the progress of what they're doing. Oh, there's a problem? Call over another troll and talk to them as if the customer isn't right there in front of them. Don't ask the customer if they know anything about the problem (I did, and was right) and don't have a solution to the problem either when you can't figure out how what's wrong. It's the goddamn DMV - you do like a maximum of 30 different tasks - how hard is this to master? I should feel better about raging here, but I don't - because I know I'll have to be back soon. They should replace those pen machines with Xanax dispensers, scrap the security guard, and make the employees ACT like they're happy to have a goddamn job at all. read more

The website hours claim they are open on Saturdays at 8:00AM. I arrived there and waited for over an hour with a few other people coming and going. Needless to say they never opened. Apparently they open on whatever Saturday they feel like it. Terrible to waste everyone's time driving out there since it is the only DMV around that is supposedly open on a Saturday. Very inconvenient and inconsiderate of them not to have a consistent schedule for hours or atleast update the website as I am sure that wasn't the first time and wont be the last. read more

If you're getting the new enhanced license, you better make sure of all the necessary documents! Since I'm married I needed my marriage license(which wasn't listed on the forms I received in the mail)So the lady at the info/number window sent me home to get it and when I came back, she gave me a special number so I wouldn't have to wait once my picture was taken!! Low staffed, employees suck. This place sucks ass, I always come here and wait for almost 3 hours and waste my day off for them to tell me I need more things to get what I need. They don't even care that you waited hours they'll still tell you to leave and get the documents you need. Unbelievable, not a spot left to sit. We got our number left to go to lunch, left again to go shopping and back again. We still have 20 numbers with our letter C ahead of us. Who knows what system is used just to make like you feel like you are getting close. We are at an hour and a half wait right now. People are standing everywhere.
