I found out a lot about A/Cs when mine went bad, like most people. We have 2, one upstairs and one downstairs, and one day the bottom floor stopped putting out cool air. I was thinking "ok here goes 2 or 3k$".Boy was I wrong. I called the number on the AC unit, it was in before I bought the house and figured the company that installed it would have the parts. Well they came out and said the parts aren't made anymore because they changed the coolant since it was installed and I had to replace the whole thing. Just one a/c unit would be 14k$. I was not happy with that but figured it must be the cost. Well long story short I called my wife and she said "no way". Too much. So I continued calling around and the best I could find was 11.5k$. I cannot tell you what a huge difference talking to her made and when I hung up I competent reassured. She did not pressure me in any way to buy and just gave me the facts. Which I agreed to before the install. Other than that, everything was as advertised from day 1. I could not be happier. They saved me close to 7k. When I ordered my Trane equipment on Oct 30th, I used a promo code for $500. On the next day and days after, I am getting SMSs a promo code for $1000. The company didn't honor this $1000 Promo Code. The equipment listed as in stock, but it is not. They offered me a less efficient one instead. Even that, I have waited for my Trane A/C for six weeks! Year later the air compressor goes out again- $1500. Plus $400 for new fan too. 1. Save money upfront, get shoddy work, have pain, and costs. oR 2. I admit I was skeptical. This company's price for a new AC was less than half of the other bids we had received. I checked out the models they sell and found out the were comparable in quality to the higher brands. The website had great information and the online chat person was extremely helpful. She even called me to answer my questions faster. Amazing! We went ahead and placed our order and within a day the installer had contacted us to schedule a pre-site inspection. Everything went perfectly from there. The unit arrived quickly and the installers were knowledgeable, careful (they put down a tarp to protect my floors), pleasant and polite. Was very skeptical of the service upon reading all the negative reviews. Called and spoke with a nice receptionist that confirmed they did have prior issues with bad AC installers in the past but have rectified those issues, which I thought was true. Sure enough after purchasing my units they assigned me to a non-local AC company (they will earn a separate review). The AC company came out to do a inspection but it's really a 'sales guy' that shows up. I can tell immediately, his job was to come and mark up the cost any way possible. I purchased (2) systems so the 3K install apparently wasn't enough profit for them. After 35 min, the AC rep works up a bill that comes close to 10K. I kindly asked the rep are all these items quoted necessary and he say 100%. I then explained with the purchase of the units through NewAC my total is now well over the quotes I received from other AC companies. He then smirks and tells me, I understand, your'e better off buying through us directly and we can give you a way better deal. He then admits they don't make much profit off NewAC deals because they don't profit off the equipment sale. I immediately called to cancel and was told the owner of NewAC would reach out, but never received a call. Then the AC company contracted contacts me and says we're sorry you want to cancel, how can we make this work. The gentlemen then states the items quoted were not necessary at all, not a surprise. I then spoke to NewAC about this horrible experience and still no call from the owner. My word of advice to anyone considering this company/process is that NewAC does not stand by or vet their installers, period. I'm very concerned if or when I run into issues they wont be much help with anything. This experience is very similar to why I don't use home warranty companies. They promise you the world but contract installers with set rates, equaling poor service and support. Unfortunately, I would not recommend them or anyone to go through this horrible process. Our old AC system had been working just fine, but it's a 2007 model pushing toward its end-of-life cycle for Tucson, AZ heat. Months ago, I decided to purchase a modern higher efficiency AC as a preventive measure rather than waiting for the old one to fail. I recently made the difficult decision (with advice from 2-3 AC guys) to replace my 12yr old AC unit. I got 4 bids and each was in the $7k range. Buying online from 'new ac unit' I saved ~$1,500. A nice ~20% savings. My concern was mostly with the installation team and installation timing. In my case it worked out great. TIMELINE On Tuesday I got bids. Tuesday night I pulled the trigger on an online purchase. I got a call at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday indicating that I was being assigned a local AC company to install (on Tue night when I placed the order the system assigned a Houston, TX install team, in error). By noon on Wednesday I was scheduled for an install for Thursday - the very next day, nice. It's October so I think demand isn't as high. Turns out, the installation was assigned to a company that gave me a quote on Tuesday (Precision Air), and so there wasn't a need to do a site inspection. Thursday the team of 2 showed up on time and away they went. It took all day and into the night (I had an additional register added) and so-far-so-good. It's only been a day and it's cool outside but I'm hopeful. That's my experience, so far. Good luck to all of you researching for a new AC unit. I bought 2 units last season. From the start my upstairs unit has not worked properly. It has been hard starting "sounds like a car slamming through my living room." Every month it seems like I've had a ac company come out to fix the copper piping cause of the jerky ness in the compressor. The refrigerant leaks out and upstairs starts to cool. Thanks to new ac unit I haven't had to pay out of pocket. But it's been over 14th months, numerous appointments for a tech to come out to tell my family its fixed "it's not." 3 different companies, I swear I've developed anxiety over this problem. I will give John from new ac unit, some credit he is very nice and I know it's not his fault I'm having this issue. I just wish they would do the right thing and replace the unit. They been putting bandaids over a gun shot wound. As it sits now my ac compressor is about to become unbolted cause of the heavy jerkiness. It's in the picture. BUYER BEWARE! newACunit saids, "Price you see is the price you pay. No hidden fees." Reality: Installation will cost you at least twice as much quoted by newACunit. Expensive MANDATORY permit fees and MANDATORY extra new replacement parts for installation will at least double their quoted installation cost. Additional required parts are due to current code requirements for everyone, not due to prior "code violations" as he briefly mentioned might cause additional cost. newACunit saids, "I cut out the middle man." There is a manufacturer who makes the AC unit then there is a company who installs the AC unit. newACunit does neither. They don't cut out the middle man. They are the middle man which causes you, the customer, to pay a lot more money. I cancelled my order less than 24 hours after I placed it. newACunit lied and said they already delivered my AC unit. To whom they supposedly delivered it to, they never would say. They don't deliver the AC unit until after the subcontractor comes out to your home and makes sure you ordered the right size and type AC unit. I never signed an agreement with the subcontractor. I had to dispute my charges with PayPal who quickly ruled in my favor after carefully considering all the evidence against newACunit. read more

I am extremely satisfied with our experience with these folks. We got a few bids from a few other AC Companies before hand. We even had old Melvin come out and his quote was twice what we paid in the end. We got a 3.5 ton 16 SEER unit for our 1500 SF house. It's so quiet! We can't wait to see how much we will save on the power bill this summer! The install in the attic was very challenging. It was really tight, but they got it up there. We had another company see if could be repaired but when checking out the system, he told us straight up it was time to be replaced. Although I figured the online pricing was too good to be true and the install price would go up after the job site inspection which is "the catch" with this company, I was prepared for it and the total price was still overall very competitive. Here is what you need to expect if you are replacing a 13-year-old (or older) split system as I did. The install price quoted online is NOT reality! The install price quoted online is a perfect world scenario. Odds are likely you will end up paying at least 50-70% more than the $1,250 quoted online. I was expecting something like this being a little familiar with AC systems- the new stuff is never going to match up and interface with your existing ductwork, electrical supply, PVC, etc... It will need to be re-worked and reconfigured in most cases. Precision Air did the install in about 6 hours with a two-man team. The technicians Dave and Ryan were great! They were friendly, informative, neat and did a great job. I know it's January and not the busiest time for an AC company but I was still very impressed that my new system was installed less than a week after I purchased it online! What I would recommend for anyone thinking of purchasing from this company is that you get at least 2-3 quotes for "basic" systems from other companies first. This will give a range of what to expect to pay as long as you are not being sold on the top-tier "Cadillac" systems with all the bells and whistles. If you are an extremely Brand conscious consumer this company is probably not a good match for you and I imagine is probably the reason for many of the one-star reviews! Yes, there is certainly a difference between brands and if you really got to impress all your friends with that Bad-Ass, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Trane system with the Smartphone Thermostat App and you feel it is worth two or three times the price go for it! Personally, this will be the third home in which I replaced the HVAC with a new Goodman system so my experience with was first two has obviously been good. I do NOT recommend this business. Our entire experience has been stressful, frustrating, unprofessional and sketchy. Since installation, we have had nothing but consistent and ongoing problems. Several home visits to deal with multiple different problems. The installers even stated that the Goodman unit being sold to us always has a lot of problems which is why they don't sell it...but they sure took my money! In fact, they wanted out money in total before the unit was even inspected and were totally put out that I wouldn't pay until a passed inspection. Our unit has not gone out completely 2 times since installation and it's suppose to be a brand new unit?! Just don't do it. Stay away from this company, they clearly are not vetting their installers. Great way to leverage the Internet to circum-navigate HVAC price gouging. 4-Ton, 18 SEER, 2-Stage Split unit w/Air Handler, ALL in, $7,200.00. This included the $900.00 in extras that the installer tacked on such as 1) Disconnect upgrade to fused disconnect. 2) Thermostat wiring replacement from 5-wire to 7-wire in support 2-Stage operation and variable speed blower, 3) Emergency shut off trigger if the condensation pan develops a water level due to condensation pipe drain plugging up, 4) Raised platform to accommodate a larger area filter for more efficient flow as well as better pitch for condensation piping & 5) Replacement vent cover for where the old filter register used to be. Submitted paperwork Thursday night, they ordered the unit Friday and it was installed on Monday. I was in a bad way, over a barrel so to speak, and STILL it was 30-40% less expensive than estimates I had received earlier in the year from Home Depot and Costco vendors when I was planning in advance. Those big players really should demand more value from their vendors. Very rarely does Costco "not" win out on purchases at our house. read more

UPDATE NewACUnit reached out to me to discuss my concerns below and have done their part to rectify the situation to the best of their ability. While not an ideal situation, I do give credit for them reaching out and working with me to find a satisfactory resolution to my issue. ****************** I purchased an AC Unit from NewACUnit.com in March of 2018. The purchase went smoothly and the representatives were helpful, but the mess started soon after purchase. A contractor was sent to my home to complete the inspection and recommended certain work be done and we agreed on a scope of work and a time for installation. On the installation date, a subcontractor was sent by the original contractor, which was a breach of the contract that I had signed with the contract. Also, according to NewACUnit, it was also against their terms with the contractors. After much back and forth with the original contractor, I contacted NewACUnit to discuss my issues with the process. They apologized and offered to send out Precision Air and Heating (separately owned company of the owner of NewACUnit) to inspect the work and also complete the Manual J calculation (at a cost to me of $125) and complete and submit the paperwork for an available SRP rebate ($400). As of 8/25/18, the rebate has not come to my home and I have called both NewACUnit and Precision Air and Heating and either get the runaround, or never receive a call back when I leave a message. I'm incredibly frustrated with the experience I have had and would have gladly paid more to a company to avoid this experience and frustration. While the AC unit is functioning properly, I would caution anyone against doing business with this company (or its affiliates) as the savings is not worth the frustration and lack of service. read more

We purchased two AC units from this company last summer. Their model is pretty honest and transparent because they list the prices online. The one disadvantage, in my opinion, is they don't actually do the installation, but rather sub it out to a different vendor. The vendor that installed our AC system upsold us on a 10 year service agreement where they were to perform preventative maintenance every 6 months. I normally don't pay extra for these things, but having to deal with our AC unit over the last few years, I just wanted to pay to forget about it. 6 months goes by and I reach out to the installation vendor and guess what...they're out of business. Crap! I thought I was out several thousand dollars for the 10 year service agreement so I called newacunit.com to see what they could do. I am giving them a 2 because I ended up not purchasing a unit through them. This is just about my experience with their process and customer service. Your mileage may vary. So my unit went out a few weeks back and I had a home warranty so I went through them first. They decided my 30 year old unit with a non-repairable compressor could be repaired so I went off looking for a new unit myself. I thought this company was unbelievable in their pricing and what they were saying they could do. I decided to contact their customer service to ask a few questions. My first one was when and how do I pay. The answer was when I placed the order I had to pay the full amount. My second question was about what happens when a contractor comes out and says I need additional things. The answer to that was, I would work with the contractor for anything beyond the scope of what I was sold through newacunit.com. Now for the reason I didn't buy through them. I asked what happens if I don't like the contractor or the process and want to cancel my order. There is a NO CANCELLATION POLICY. Wait a minute. So I place an order and pay $5k+ for a new unit without anyone coming to look at my property and I can't cancel if things go bad? That seems ridiculous. So they lost me as a customer and have a 2 star review because they had no way of cancelling if I was unhappy. No thank you. I did tell the person that sounded shady and I was just going to use someone else. They said Ok and that was the end of the communications. I would figure they would have at least tried to do something to keep me as a customer, but they were fine with being called out as shady and not trying to say something like they could add in a cancellation clause or something like that to make me feel better. Either way, I'm paying about $800 more for a new unit through another company who adds in a 12 year labor warranty and that came to my house and provided a binding estimate before I put money down. So the lesson is, if you want to put your trust into someone you never met, then they are probably a good company to use. My ac unit has been out since last Friday. After getting bids from other companies and feedback from friends I decided to purchase my new unit through newacunit.com. I made the purchase first thing Saturday morning after being told via email that they should be able to install within 72 hours. I never had any communication from newacunit or Efficient Air, the contractor selected until Monday AFTER we reached out to newacunit multiple times. They assured us they would get Efficent Air in contact with us and they should be able to install soon. It is now Tuesday evening and Efficient Air has pushed back our install twice, not returned phone calls and won't even put our new install date, Thursday, in writing. We can't reach anyone at newacunit to help us either. My family has been displaced from our home for what will be nearly a week and no one seems to have any sense of urgency about it. I bought a Goodman 16 seer, model GSZ160421 from newacunit.com in August of 2018. I bought the 10 year parts/labor warranty from the installer they paired me with (US Air Home Energy). I was skeptical of buying the 10 year warranty, so I contacted newacunit.com to verify if the warranty was good if this company went out of business. They said yes, it would be through the manufacturer and so any company could do the service repair work if US Air Home Energy went out of business. Well, here I am a year later and the AC unit isn't working and US Air Home Energy is out of business. Apparently US Air Home Energy sold me an internal warranty, not a manufacturers warranty. I called newacunit.com this morning to see what could be done to rectify this and they said there is nothing they can do. Companies go out of business and they feel bad for me and everyone else this is happening to. Newacunit.com said I could sue US Air Home Energy and newacunit.com isn't wiling to help. They did offer me an air conditioning repair company to contact, but I let them know I am done taking referrals from them. So I'm out $3,700 for the 10 year parts/labor warranty. I saw online that Ace Home Services is taking over the accounts for US Air Home Energy, so when I called them, they basically bought the contact info for all of US Air Home Energy customers and will give me 1 free inspection/cleaning a year, but I'd have to pay for anything else. So I would NOT recommend newacunit.com to anyone. They referred me to a financially unstable install company that milked me for $3,700 and my air conditioner isn't working!!! From start to finish, what an excellent experience. I was referred by my parents and they had a great experience as well. The website is very easy to use and I had no problem determining the proper tonnage to order for our new unit. They pair you up with local servicers for the installation. I asked for the same one my parents had because they recommended them and the very next day I got a call to confirm that the servicer I requested would be calling me to setup the initial walk through. I had an excellent experience with this company. I had received five different bids from five different companies. I ended up saving $1500 from the lowest bid that did not even include the extra things we had done with our install. I unfortunately had to replace two AC units at the same time. I purchased two units through newaCunit.com and chose Clear Air as my contractor. The contractor called me within an hour and got to my house within two hours to take a look at our systems. He made some recommendations of things that needed to be repaired, or corrected etc. to make everything more energy efficient. These were things that had also been recommended by a few other companies, so I made an educated choice on which items to choose to have corrected. (I actually did everything he recommended minus the new thermostats which we didn't need). The install price of $1200 per unit was included in the list price. We did end up paying an extra $1700 in recommended items and we figured, since were putting in two brand-new units we might as well trust the professionals and take care of everything in the attic while they were up there. (We had a 30 year old system and a 15 year old system) The units were installed two days after I ordered them, the crew was professional, polite, and clean. My experience is pretty much what they say is going to happen. I did expect to pay a little more than the "basic" install they quoted because I needed a new thermostat and the duct work had to be changed. The one thing I didn't expect was the hard selling of an extended warranty. It did make sense though as the Goodman has a 10 year compressor warranty so I added the labor part of the warranty. Here is where my story is unique. Just after 10 months of the install my smart thermostat locked me out of the system and has a fault code. I made a call to my installer but then found out they were out of business! So I emailed newacunit and they replied that precision air and heating would take over the 1 year install warranty. This was comforting but at the same time frustrating. But they did make it right to a point so I have to give them credit. read more

I used NewAC unit to get a 3.5 ton unit. Saved a lot of money. GreenID installed my unit they did a good job and got it done in 1 day. Came back 2 days latter and rechecked to make sure everything was sealed. It cost more than the original estimate for a T-stat, fuse, and surge protector. read more

I got 3 estimates for our job. They were by far the most affordable for pricing on the a/c unit. I had an issue with the original installers selected for my job. When I voiced my concerns, the owners contacted me personally and worked with me to find an installer that worked for me. I cannot say enough good things about NewACunit. I was looking to replace our old heat pump for a couple of years. The quotes I was getting were between $8,000 and $9,000 for a new unit and installation. That was enough to scare me away, repairing the old unit was best alternative.
